A lot of people are not comfortable with listing their name so you may not get a lot of replies.

Ray means “protection.” It's a shortened version of the name Raymond, which means “wise protector” or “counsel hand” when translated from Old German.

Certainly I have lived up to that name at various times, and other times not so much. However . . . I was really named after Ray Charles, an black singer in the early 50's because my older sister loved the music of that singer at the time I was born.

Why oh why didn't my parents stop that crazy idea I will never know .. . . . .

Please don't ask me to sing 'Georgia' . . . . LOL

My current name will pass away.  I don't know what my new name will be.  But I know it will be the right name

Revelation 2:17

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

Revelation 3:12

Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

Biblical names and numbers add to our understanding of scripture. Do you know the meaning of your name?

My name, Dennis, means “follower of Dionysius, a Christian saint.” My parents were not Christians at the time, and believe me, my lifestyle was anything but saintly.

Has anyone ever considered Hebrew and Greek names in the Bible, the meaning of hundreds of them, incorporating them and associating their names with Biblical study?

With our Western minds, we generally give little thought to naming our children, with the meaning of the name (generally with exceptions of course). In the ancient Hebrew-Jewish world, did they officially name their babies as we do, just before or after birth?

Some were a primitive type of surname, i.e., Simon Bar-jona, the family name of the apostle Simon Peter—‘Bar- Jona’ or ‘Bar-Jonas’ (Mt 16:17).[1] Simon meaning “he who hears,” but there is much more to that, as with every Biblical name.

Most Hebrew names were not associated with a son of the father. Many Biblical names and meanings give us an accurate glimpse of hundreds of their personalities, traits, characters, circumstances, or calling.

Other than by divine intervention with hundreds of names in the Bible that accurately describe the above. How did the father have the insight to know their child’s character, personality, traits, or calling as newborn babes?

Name Dennis.jpg

Shalom, @Dennis1209.

My given name is "Roy," a Teutonic name meaning "red." I have considered using "Adam," it's Hebrew equivalent, which also means "red," for my "nom de plume" or "pen name" in the books I'm writing.

Most Hebrew boys are named at their circumcision, on the 8tn day after their birth. In the Bible, the son or daughter is named based upon the circumstances or the feelings at his or her birth. On rare occasions, such as our Lord's birth or His cousin's, Yochanan's birth, they were named first by an angel of God.

I think it's fun to read through Genesis, look up the name given to the person being born, and see what it meant and read the account of that person's birth to see why he or she was so named. There's usually some reason in the name. I also find it interesting to note how the original name sounded and was written and compare it to how it was transliterated into English characters and the names we find common today.

For instance, the name of our Lord was and still is "יֵשׁוּעַ," (Strong's H3442) which I transliterate as "Yeeshuwa`," which suggests how the name originally sounded: "Yay-shoo'-(g)ah," in which the "`ayin" or "`" (sometimes called a "back-tick") represented with the "(g)," is like a swallowed "g" sound, like when a child tries to immitate a frog's croak in the "Gunk! Gunk! Went the Little Greek Frog" preschool song. It means "He shall save" or "He shall deliver" or "He shall rescue." And, one can learn this from Matthew 1:

Matthew 1:19-21 (KJV)

19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just [man], and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. 20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying,

"Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS (Greek: Ἰησοῦς = Ieesous = Hebrew: יֵשׁוּעַ = Yeeshuwa`): for 'HE SHALL SAVE' his people from their sins."

Contrary to popular belief, "יֵשׁוּעַ" is NOT the same name as "יְהוֹשׁוּעַ" which is transliterated as "Yhowshuwa`" and given the English spelling "Joshua" or "Jehoshua" (in Numbers 13:16 and 1 Chronicles 7:27). It means "YHWH saved," "YHWH delivered," or "YHWH rescued." Note: These two names are not even spelled the same in Hebrew! Now, the GREEK language may have confused them in trying to transliterate them into Greek letters, but they are NOT the same name in Hebrew! The "yod-" prefix (y-) is the THIRD-PERSON, SINGULAR PRONOUN form of the verb. The "yod-hei-vav-" prefix are the first three letters of God's covenant Name, "YHWH," also called the "Tetragrammaton," Greek for "having four letters."

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
