1Cor 12:30  Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?

To me, this is the simplest answer along with various functions in the body and those things are not static. The Head of the Church will use members as needs arise…in a healthy assembly. Maturity is almost but not always of importance.

But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

(Hebrews 5:14 NKJV)

This verse is speaking of an important principle.

You know over all what is the OP saying is it good? Yes praise GOD. Sure it may not be the way some of us would have posted it.. prasie GOD awesome to be different but this is all for Christ. To know Him better.

So I see is best to stop now for when the Holy Spirit/Holy Ghost/Ruach Ha-Kodesh is talked about best to walk very very very softly. You know no one has really ever sinned against me as Daivd said agasinst thee and only thee have I sinned and done this evil in your sight. I ask Him to forgive me every day for things I have done wrong. So I need to sometimes force my self to see the good in others not the things I don't like I don't agree with.

I not here to control anyone... pffft can't control my wife HAHA playing smile. To grow even stronger in the lord we are going to love and forgive. These kind of things stop the holy Spirit in our lifes.  Why I say what are we focusing on? What does He see?

In this passage of scriptural facts Peter and John went to Samaria because a lot of people believed by the preaching of the Gospel by Philip who did amongs them a lot of miraculous things.

Those who believed they were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ BUT  non of them had received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Then Peter and John prayed for them and  when they place their hands on their heads THEY RECEIVED the HOLY SPIRIT.

Acts 8:14-24 niv

14 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to Samaria.

15 When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit,

16 because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

17 Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

18 When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, 19 said, “Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.

JESUS WAS ‘FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT FROM CONCEPTION.

Mat 1:20  But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

Jesus had the fullness of the Holy Spirit.

Jhn 3:34  For he whom God hath sent [Jesus] speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.

Jesus did not need to be water baptized.

Mat 3:13  Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.  But John forbade him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

Jesus did not need to be Spirit baptized either.

Mat 3:16  And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Jesus, having been filled with the Holy Spirit from conception, was anointed with the Holy Spirit at His water baptism. This was not an empowerment (for He already had the fullness of the Spirit for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him) but rather a sign of His Father’s approval and beginning of His public ministry.

As to asking for the Holy Spirit, there is no command to do so but the example was to Israel, not Christians, and this was to be a Jewish sign given of because of belief that Jesus was the Messiah.

Jhn 4:10  Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

Jhn 7:37  In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

There is no term in the Bible “baptism IN the Holy Spirit”

BUT

There is a baptism BY the Holy Spirit INTO the body of Christ.

1Co 12:13  For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

We are baptized with the HS the moment we believe.

Rom 8:9  But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

The disciples in the upper room had already received the Holy Spirit by Jesus 50 days prior.

Jhn 20:19  Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost.

At Pentecost, the disciples were anointed (baptized) with the Holy Spirit for SERVICE, just as Jesus was. They did not receive MORE of the HS, just a public recognition of God’s power in them.

Mrk 1:8  I indeed have baptized you with water: but He  [Jesus] shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

Act 1:5  For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

The filling of the Spirit is something I don’t understand but I ask to be filled nonetheless, the same way I ask to be anointed and that God would fulfill His promise of John 14:26 “to bring all things to my rememberance” before I teach. So, I don’t get drunk and pray I be totally under the HS influence as I teach.

Eph 5:18  And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

Our experiences should never dictate doctrine no matter how real they seem. God may do with you what He doesn't do with me and vice versa. I'm happy you speak with tongues but it is not a proof of anything. I don't, yet we are both born again and Spirit filled.

1Cor 12:18  But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

1Cor 12:30  Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?

Keep studying

. It is better to ask for understanding than power.

Blessings.

Jesus had the Spirit, like we have the Spirit when we get saved.... but He was NOT baptized in the Spirit until the Holy Spirit descended upon him! That is when He had the power to do miracles... not before. The word baptize means immersion. Back to the water example I gave, Jesus drank from the Holy Spirit without measure, but He was not immersed in the Holy Spirit until He was 33!

In the Baptism of Jesus, the Holy Spirit came down upon Jesus like a dove... in Acts 2, the Holy Spirit came down like tongues of fire... and they were ALL filled with the Holy Spirit!

I don't agree. I told you why from Scripture. You are on shaky ground making such statements that have no Scriptural proof. Just because it is not recorded doesn't mean it is not so. Consider "And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen." John 21:25 Study more and ask for understanding. Blessings.

John 21:25 is saying that all the miracle Jesus Christ did during his ministry before the Cross are not recorded in the Gospel of John. And the disciples and a lot of other people were the witnesses. Jesus Christ did the miracles in open space in public in the presence of many witnesses.

@LastDaysJames

said that Jesus Christ did not make miracles before his baptism in the Jordan River and the descending of the Holy Spirit upon him.

What does he want to say with that?

One of the things is that Jesus Christ did not have the power to do miracles before his baptism in the Jordan River. And his baptism by the Holy Spirit at the Jordan River.

For one thing we do not have any record of Jesus Christ doing a public miracle before these events at the Jordan River.

What we have is that Jesus preach from place to place "repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand". And without reference to any miracles. And we do not have any knowledge of what Jesus was telling them at that time.

Now. We come to the other suggestion of him trying to apply that to the believers of Jesus Christ.  Which needs to be discussed.

You can disagree - but I think the bigger point is missing! Even if you are right, and Jesus Could - I did not until after his baptism by the Holy Spirit.... Why.... Because He was setting the example for us to follow, and showing us the importance of being filled with the Holy Spirit before we do anything else; and before we can move in power! Back to the ever so important command Jesus gave..... "wait for the promise..." That promise is the infilling of the Holy Spirit; and look at the power manifested through acts because of the power the infilling of the Holy Spirit brought!

We too have access to that same power; but like the disciples, we also need the infilling of the Holy Spirit..... If you want a non-biblical good example; check out the stories that came from the infilling of the Holy Spirit in the "Azusa Street Revival" of 1907! People like Smith Wigglesworth came out of that revival; and the power he had was insane!

You keep telling us we can access this 'power' from the holy ghost, but you cannot remember how you got it, nor tell me how I can receive it. According to scripture, the word of God.

Simply tell me in your own words, then,  backed up with scripture, what I must actually do to receive the 'filling/power' that you continue to say I need.

Do I have to get re-baptized in some special way? Surely you can tell us about when a new seeker comes to your church to receive this baptism/power/filling how it happens, James. Thanks, Sower...

There is no special way or recipe for the "baptism of the Holy Spirit".

First of all stop judging your self because all believers had the benefit of the Holy Spirit to open their understanding and the need to believe. Before they believed. And it continues after. This is why we speak the word we believe is blessed by Jesus Christ. From now on you should only used the words Jesus Christ. Like I believe in Jesus Christ instead of I believe in God.

When you say the first one you promote the need for a Mediator and suggest that any one who says I believe in God do not have God unless they have the forgiveness of sins in Jesus Christ. We are Jesus Christ children. He is with God and his children are with God.

When we believe in Jesus Christ we received the spirit of adaptation something from Jesus Christ. From his Spirit. From his life. We are recognized in the spiritual world by his spirit in us.

After the resurrection Jesus Christ breath in his disciples and they received from his Spirit. The Spirit of Life eternal. That's what is happening to anyone who believes. Jesus did not do that to all the other believers.

You do not have to have the baptism of the Holy Spirit in your life. The Holy Spirit is not the one who died for you to saved you. Jesus Christ is.

But we can always could have the living word of the Holy Spirit in us. The gifts of healing is one of them. The prayer of faith is another thing. Gifts of healing is another it is a gift even the person doesn't understand.

We have the Bible read the book of acts or just asked Jesus tell him I want to experience this in my life. Seek nock and the door will be open. It is available to any one who wants to and is patient and who does not give up. Visit some Pentecostal churches. They are not going to harm you.

They do not need to have everything right. Because is given by faith.

I do not need to be right in everything, just post an overview.

I know someone with the gifts of the Holy Spirit who had to go and take his daughter out of the hands of a strange cult. He said the Holy Spirit told that he is equipped enough and the Holy Spirit will be in control and not to be afraid and nothing will harm him.

He said things happened in there of the Ocullt world and he felt the fear alive all over him and to make him run away and he said I stayed because nothing will hurt me that what was told from the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Spirit said to him his daughter is protected and anything that comes against her will not succeed. An underage girl.

He said: This is my daughter and I am taking her home.

He said I did not plan to say those words they just came out of me without thinking about them. He said I only planned to asked her if she wanted to come home.

This is the part when Jesus said the Holy Spirit will put the right words in your mouth what you need to say.

Not sure how you got me being againsed Catholics from??? But I will say this being a Catholic does not save you! Any more than being a Mennonite saves me (I am a Mennonite by blood, and there are some in my culture that think that is enough) We are both saved by the grace of God through the Blood of Jesus by making Him Lord of our life!

The Bible states very clearly how one receives the free gift of eternal life, which is salvation.  Eph 2:8 says that we are saved by grace through faith.  That's it.

The Bible is also clear that all believers are called to make Christ Lord of our life.  1 Pet 3:15.

To make Christ Lord falls under the category of works, and works don't and won't save anyone.  So we must be careful with our words and stay with what the Bible says.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
