Interesting post penfold.

I have a question on this mans thought procedures however.

Would God have Noah call the dinosauers to board the ark only to die shortly after because of a climate change? I mean God would know what changes in climate would occur after the flood. After all (Besides being all knowing) this is not the first time that water had covered the entire earth.

Also according to most scientist, they believe that the dino's lived and died off millions of years ago (Of course thier carbon dating could be way off and also there is really no proof to the age of the earth according to scripture, it leaves it pretty open, it does however give us an idea of how long man has been around and it is no where near this). This would not fit in with the timing of Noah and the flood which happenend approx 4-5,000 years ago.

As Christians we believe that the dinosaurs were buried during the Flood of Noah.

Maybe some but not all, I for onr do not believe that ther was any dinosauers on the ark, again I state my reasons for it above.

JiG2 - Noah was instructed to take EVERY beast of the earth on the Ark, I see no reason why this would exclude dinosaurs, certainly there is no scriptural reference to any exclusions.

The measurements for the Ark have been mapped out and it has been calculated that it would comfortably accomodate all of the required creatures including infant dinosaurs or incubated dino eggs plus the food required, despite the fact that God has been known to sustain people without food or water for very long periods and could have done so with the Ark if it was his will.

Aside from buying into the theory that dinosaur fossils are millions of years old rather than thousands (which is also scientifically plausible) theres no reason to assume that dinos weren't on the Ark

Would God have saved the dinosaurs knowing what brief lifespan lay ahead? dunno. Would he have created Adam and Eve knowing full well that they would fall into sin and all this chaos would ensue? Dunno, but he did. Everything that God does has purpose, from the tiny atom to the Mayfly who lives only 24 hours, to the death of his Son. Personally I dont see God as a fatalist, I see him as a powerful, meaningful, purposeful, loving and above all incomprehensible God. He does what he does and I only understand a billionth of it. :-s

An interesting side-thought is that the genealogies indicate that the earth is roughly 6000 years old, at least in its fallen state and that we are entering the 7th millenium. I note in revelation that Yeshua will reign from Jerusalem for a thousand years of peace, or you might say "rest" (which increasingly more christians believe is right around the corner) and it does make me wonder if God has intended a parallel between his 6 days of labour and 7th day of rest, with mankind having 6 millenia of labour and a 7th millienia of rest, just food for thought

carbon dating has been proven to be woefully innacurate, 10 year old dog bones were dated 1000's of years old.

I know someone who works in a geography dept at the local uni and she says all the senior geographers know that carbon dating is a load of rubbish and that there must have been a world wide flood.

The millions of years part of theory comes from the human thought that things take a long time to change. This in part comes from plate techtonics theory that says it takes x amount of years for the plate to move x amount of inches.

The plates are in their current position and they have just worked out ( ) that the land used to be in one lump!! (i could have saved them years of research by reading just one ancient book!)

They have worked backwards from their current position using the x amount per year theory and arrived at millions of years.

Plates can move very fast though (think asian earthquakes) especially if you believe in a God who can do masses in a "twinkling of an eye"

I am not anti science- I think science can really help us understand the world God has made for us and make our faith stronger.

Thankyou everyone for your thoughtful replies and considered discussions. My question still remains however. Since God asked Noah to take a minimum of two animals of every kind onto the ark, why are there not dinosaurs roaming the earth today. Given that the larger dinos might have been thought of as threats, Dragons etc why would the smaller animals that were herbivores, the smaller carnivors and even the omnivors not be in existance now? We have reptiles such as the alligator, crocodile but nothing more than the carnivorous. I doubt that all dinos were reptillian, I believe there may have been mamalian dinos.

We need to think this through, or if anyone gets a revelation from God....let me know

The ones that DID survive, such as crocs, geckos, iguanas etc... we dont call them Dinosaurs because theyre not dead and fossilised and they dont look wierd to us...because we're used to them. But they were all contemporary to uncle Rex and his terrible mates :) If you want to see a living dinosaur, you dont have to look that far.....

Hunted down? please the things where as tall as skyscrapers, and longer than 10 tractor trailers end to end what in the world makes you think the 12 indvuadules are going to be able to kill even one espicealy if you concider the leval of tecnolagy that they had to work with. I mean for crying out loud the first bow's and arowrs wuldent even be invented for nearly another 50,000 years and to kill something that large with such a small groupe each person would need a high powerd rifle and would need to be expert mmarks men at that

a few overlooked issues:

1) Not every dinosaur was a T-Rex or Brontosaurus (the likes of which would have died from lack of food resources) i.e. After the flood the only remaining dinosaurs would have been the ones on the ark, meaning that there were not that many smaller dinosaurs for carnivores to feed on making them harder for Rex to HUNT and catch, especially when he's hungry and tired. Herbivores would suffer too as much vegetation would be ruined by the great flood. The premise of this domino effect is a widely accepted reason for the extinction of the dinosaurs anyway, but is usually attributed to a meteor strike or an ice-age, rather than a great flood.

Point taken. Just one thing though Gen says Gos told Noa to take abord two of every unclean thing and seven of every clean thing. Going by this there would have to be at least two of every spices of dino brought abord

2) The Ark landed after the flood around 5,000 years ago. Technology was advanced enough to build boats the size of football stadiums and towers the width and height of small villages (see Babylonia) :-)

I seirosely dout that it was that short a time agaio sence all arcoual finds from only 5,000 yeast agaio where much to advanced for anyone in Noas time to be able to comtiomplate much less be able to use.

Dont get me wrong I am a creationist. I just think that the calendor is missing something, that the time line has been misplacedsomehow and that we are working on a completely difrent time scale than we should be.

3) Said technology would be ample for the hunting of smaller, fierce dinosaurs for trophies (such as the infamous raptor which ranged from the size of a dog to about 6 ft tall) for food and out of fear. You know most animals can be killed when stabbed through the eye or the temple.

perhaps if you can get an adquit shot in. But don't forget even the smallest of thses thing are more than capable enof to defend them selves and would still be able to take down a human becouse of there supiorr hunting skills, aka hightend sences, stelath abilty ext ext.

I for got the name of this one but they where about the sise of a chiken and hunted in packs of 30 to 40 or more, numbers where there advantage, so neturaly they would probly breed faster than rabits.

The Dragon Myth:

Widely held to originate in EGYPT around 3,000 BC (Roughly the same period as the flood/Ark)

Also common in Babylonian culture around 2,000 BC

Chinese Dragon Myth and culture seems to have its genesis between 2,000 and 1,000 BC

From These 3 main points of Origin the culture spreads out through India, Eurasia, Europe and eventually the Americas.

Check an atlas, it paints an interesting picture :-)

You know there is still one creature on the earth with the name dragon and displayes all the trats that you find in the old legonds.

LOL you know the Kamodo Dragon that lives prmarley in southeast Asia.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
