I believe in providence, not luck. If I want something specific for someone, I wish them God's providence, where others might say "Good Luck"

I say it out of years of conditioning, but I'm slowly getting off it, there is no luck when G-d is involved.

whoa....we are certainly not gonna be able to say anything anymore cos of its x-greek god origins eh

but yea....i do agree with the whole luck thing. even if we put our faith aside (which we cant, but just to make a point) luck is just a word, how do people expect an empty word to just work wonders, might as well say wish u good potatoes.

i am in the middle of my finals right now (u can pray for me for those if u wanna ) and i have got into the habbit of telling anyone who wishes me good luck that luck doesnt actually change things. i say it in a casual way so some people might miss the point i am trying to make.......sometimes i add in "u can pray for me instead ". i bet i get the "religious freak" look from them

which reminds me of soemthing that happened one time. i dont remember how we got to talking about luck and how it really is just a word. ...changes nothing. but yea....we agreed that praying would be much better. i dont remember what it was that was happening in my life at the time but she said to me she will pray for me as we parted ways. my friend is Hindu. i didnt know what to say so i said "thank you".

I thought Loki was "a bad guy" - the god of mischief and misdeeds, or sometrhing like that.

Saying, "Good luck!" is a way of saying, "I wish you well."

But - is "wishing" any more Biblical than "luck?"

I'm with the others - I'm trying to uncondition myself from saying, "Good luck," - yet I am mot sure what to replace it with.
