I hate putting up posts like this as I would rather be encouraging to someone else. However, something is wrong in my life.. most likely spiritually.. but I just don't know what it is. Praying seems so weird all of a sudden and the bible seems almost plain but still has God's fire. I can't listen to the messages in church.. one of my teachers at school told me I was immature... I just don't know what I am doing wrong. I keep thinking I have gotten rid of unconfessed sin as I keep praying but something just seems wrong with my spiritual life. Help?

hurt possibly? Remember we are to live a life that pleases God. In doing that we will be successful. We wont always please man - man has a way of never being satisfied. One person will say we are responsible, another will say we are perfectionists. God will say'I am pleased with you'.

Are you a fairly new believer?

it sounds like the honeymoon is over and you are learning to walk by faith

It would be difficult to diagnose what is wrong in your life when we know so little about you. I do know we all have periods of time when we have dry spells, at least I do. I think sometimes it is just Satan working me overtime and other times it is just the Lord testing my faith. So many times we rely on the mountaintop experiences to keep us going, but it is in the valleys that are faith is really tested. Faith is not based upon how we feel, so at times when I don't feel very spiritual I have to remember that the truth is I am in Christ.

I don't know about you, but I journal during my quiet times. It is very helpful to me in my relationship with the Lord, but it serves another purpose as well. During times when I'm feeling like God is far away or I'm having a difficult time reaching him, I go back and revisit those journals and I am encouraged over again through the times when I did hear God speaking to me in remarkable ways. Maybe if you would begin journaling it might help you.

Kitty lover,

I think we all know what you mean, especially as yod said, if you are a new christian. A lot of people think that they have to look for ways to please God when they first become saved. Not necessarily so. Receiving Christ as your Lord and saviour is the most pleasing things you can for God. The most important thing you can is to try and live a life that is not pleasing to Him.

If you belong to Him, just your loving Him and being obedient to Him is pleasing. Merely giving someone a drink of water, you are doing it unto Him. Everthing you do to Glorify Him is what He asks of you. Nothing more. Read your bible and pray for understaning and, hey, you are a winner.

in Hin.

i had a similar problem not to long ago. i write, and my inspiration comes from God.

well i hit a dry spell. it felt like God had quit talking to me. i didn't understand, had i done something wrong. during my dry spell i read alot. one day i picked up a book that was on grace. i read this book, and immediately became angry. it said that no matter how hard i tried, i would never earn my way into heaven. it didn't matter that my church attendance was perfect, that wasn't good enough. so here i am caught in a sticky situation. i believed that if i went to church, and basicly led a good life that i was going to heaven.

well this book shattered the bubble the devil had me trapped in. John 3:16 says that whosoevr believes in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. i have known that piece of scripture most of my life, and never undersood it. grace is a gift it can't be earned. i didn't understand this. i thought your deeds got you into heaven. not something freely given. the only advice yhat i can offer is to search. your answer is there in your Bible. Jesus gave his life for you. take comfort in that.

may all your days be blessed

Honestly, I don't think I am that much of a new christian. I first went forward for salvation 7 years ago and did nothign with that salvation except go to church and learn nothing(except that God works mightily in people's lives). I went forward for "assurance of salvation" about two years ago and have been trying to serve the Lord since. Definitly a new christian compared to others, but in my mind, not so much. These past two years have been filled with so many valleys in which the Lord showed me that there a path on the mountain to the top.. but I guess I've never really been on the top of that mountain. The spiritual growth that I keep hearing about, for me it seems stagnate. The Lord is always working I know.. but I can't see that right now. I am trying to figure out what it is because normally when the present circumstances occur, there is a sin. However, I keep wondering what that sin is. Honestly, the one that comes to mind, I keep wondering if it is sin... out of fear of the future. Maybe that is it.. I am just not sure. My writing has become childish, where before, in the chat room many thought I was in my early twenties... The thought is continually crossing my mind that I have gone back to those carnal ways that I love and use to indulge it... In my mind, ever since a trip with my youth group... it seems as though that has come back... It was one step forward and three steps back...

Maybe, at this point, i just letting my mind wander and rambling on about something that I shoudlnt' worry about.. but I can't help but be concerned about my spiritual growth and wellbeing... I know it means a lot to God.. and I know that I cannot be used by God unless I am right with him... I just wish I knew...

Hey thankyou(you were writing while i was  )

You are right, I can be thankful for that gift.. the gift of Christmas...

To search God's Word? ... His word is so big.. how can I find an answer just by reading a little bit?

Don't be dismayed. Put your trust in the Lord and he will guide you. I promise you the answers are there.

Look at the story of Job. Job lost everything but his faith, and because of his faith everything was restored to him. Not to mention his ordeal had made him stronger. So please don't be discouraged. Just curl up with your bible, fix yourself a nice warm cup of hot cocoa and begin reading. above all pray for guidance. Remember, ask and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you (Matthew 7:7 KJV ). So my dear begin seeking, and you will find it. I bet you will also find many other things in the process. Life is about learning, and you learn something new everyday.

Kittylover, I haven't read that you spend much time in the word, and as for me that was/is a problem. If you have not completely read through the Bible at least twice you should do so. Each time you pick up the book, ask the Spirit to show you somehting that you need to know to be helpful for the Kingdom of God. It has helped me several times over this nearly 60 years of breathing.....

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
