"anyway I don't believe Baptizm saves you, "

So you are saying Peter was wrong in his epistle where he mentioned the baptism that now saves you? 6 months ago you became a Christian? Well I really hate to debate this topic with such experienced teacher!

Seriously, blessings to you and may God continue to extend his grace to you.

This subject has gotten a little heated here. I really don't believe there was anything I said to make you think I am trying to be a teacher, I'm sorry but that comment was uncalled for. I only know what I have read in the Bible. Anyone can be Baptized...it's what is truely in their heart that saves them.

Amen Susan :)

By the way .. this is what I mean before when I said I didn't realize the can of worms I opened on a "Christian" forum.. I meant that it become a bit to heated and people were making various remarks that were uncalled for. I wasn't talking about you when I said that before either :) What I am trying to say is, let's try and keep this discussion going in a Christian manner.. one that glorifies God. Not shooting other down, ok everyone? :):)

1Peter 3:21-22 Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you--not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience--through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, after angels and authorities and powers had been subjected to Him.

Peter says that baptism saves you, but then went on to explain that it is not water baptism that saves you but rather Spirit baptism. Sometimes an inexperienced believer who can read what the text says has a better understanding than a person who has been indoctrinated into a false religion of self salvation by sacraments.

Whoah, are you serious? I know that water baptism doesn't save you.. but what is spirit baptism and how do you believe we get this?

and Davids confession that he was conceived in sin sort of disprove your assertion that sin does not infect all of us.

OK, this is a bunny trail . . .

If you look at the way David was treated as an outcast by his father (i.e. had David out in the fields while presenting "all his sons" :) to Samuel), it is reasonable to believe that David was not a legitimate child.

Thus, his claim to being "conceived in sin" means just that - his conception was from a sinful union.

***

OK, back onto the path. . . .

This argument you are bringing about creation, here is what the verse says:

Ro 1:20 - For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

You used this verse to discount my claim that I experienced a touch from the Lord when I got baptised, correct?

OK, first of all, I fail to see how this verse applies to that.

Second, it says that "His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made," so I fail to see how you can claim our view of God through creation is unclear. :)

Third, it's really sad that you accuse me of not knowing the presence of the Lord because I had an experience that disagrees with your theology. If you knew what the presence of the Lord was like, if you ever felt it, you wouldn't be arguing this way.

When John the baptist was performing water baptism, he told people that Jesus was coming, and that He would baptize people with His Holy Spirit.

Mark 1:7-8 And he was preaching, and saying, "After me One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to stoop down and untie the thong of His sandals. "I baptized you with water; but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."

Luke 3:16 John answered and said to them all, "As for me, I baptize you with water; but One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to untie the thong of His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

When Jesus Christ came, He explained also that you must be "baptized" or immersed with His Holy Spirit in order to be saved. This is what is referred to as being "born again."

John 3:3-7 Jesus answered and said to him,

Unless a passage specifically states it is spirit baptism, than it isn't spirit baptism. :)

nebula quote:

"Thus, his claim to being "conceived in sin" means just that - his conception was from a sinful union."

That's ridiculous. Even the NIV says:

For I know my transgressions and my sin is always before me.

Against you you only have I sinned.

and done what is evil in your sight,

so that you are proved right when you speak

and justified when you judge.

Surely I was sinful at birth and sinful from the time my mother conceived me.

Are you seriously going to say this has anything to do with David's "illegitimate" birth? He is confessing the sins of someone else in these passages? You have got to be kidding!

That has to be the worst interpretation of Scripture I have seen to date and that says a lot. Its amazing how people will attempt to deny original sin. Sorry for my harshness but that is absurd.

Why wasn't David treated like a true son, then?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
