God only gets the odd glimpse of me because of my rebellion. As much as I want to stay in the light, he darkness still overwhelms me.

This is one of those things that makes no sense to us and has only a paradoxical answer.

God looks at me and sees a wretch, a sinner, a worker of inequity. He cannot stand to cast His eyes on me and His Word says he hates me.

Yet, for the sake of Christ, he also looks at me and sees the perfections of His dear Son. He views me as perfectly holy and righteous and sinless.

We cannot reconcile the two. The cross of Christ is where God meets man and how he views us is not as important as how God views His Son if we are in Him.
