TV psychics and those who advertise in your local paper are charlatans.

My mom had a friend who seemed to have some real ability. She was even tested at Johns Hopkins. She never talked about it except to close friends. She NEVER charged a penny when she shared info with someone, though she could have used the money. She felt it was a gift that should not be exploited.

No offense intended Daughterofking, but any follower of Christ who goes to a psychic has some serious problems. They are not trusting in Christ but in the words of soothsayers. I think most people here are going to respond that psychics are pretty much fakes who speak in generalities and who know how to separate people from their money, but I think your question reveals a more serious concern.

I would recommend that you speak to your pastor about this. If your pastor does not counsel you to move away from these things then you should seek a new church. Like I said I intend no offense but I think your question reveals more issues about your faith than can be properly handled on an internet web site forum. If you don't understand how attempting to see into the future is incompatible with the Christian faith then you are indeed in need of real guidance from someone grounded in the faith.

I am ashamed to admit that I spent thousands talking to them

Dear sister, i'm worried about you spending thousands on anything other than the Lord's work.

The money you give them is supporting their abominable practice. I would go so far as to say that some of them are just playing-you, ripping you off, a scam. And the rest are consulting evil.

Please flee from these folks. They are not more "in the know" than a random fortune cookie.

I have to be honest, DaughterofKing, but you seem to be very spiritually immature. I don't mean that as an insult, I promise, it's just that you have recently posted several topics with questions that a mature believe should know. I'm not sure what your background is, or how you've been raised (whether you have godly parents or not), but I know you stated that you are 25 years old in another topic. I say this out of love, and because I genuinely do care..but I think you need to start feeding yourself the Word. Get some accountability, surround yourself with believers who are wiser and stronger, and learn from them. Start reading books about faith, doctrine, theology, but most of all pray and read the Bible for yourself. Ask God to give you wisdom. He'll be faithful to do it. I'm not saying it's wrong to ask questions, that's a wise thing to do, but alot of the times that's the lazy way of getting the answers. I know this because I do it too. But I have people in my life who require me to learn some things on my own, they challenge me to dig deeper and find the answer instead of just having it handed to me.

Again, I hope I haven't offended you, I hope instead that I've encouraged and challenged you to grow and start pursuing wisdom. Start with the book of Proverbs, if the rest of the books are intimidating. When people ask you questions that you don't know the answer to, determine in yourself to find the answer by researching it. If someone tells you something they say is the truth, test it to see. Check to be sure it lines up with Scripture. These are all ways that you will grow and become wise. I hope this helps...

Are psychics for real? I am ashamed to admit that I spent thousands talking to them and smetimes they seemed to be accurate, are they for real?

This is a good question. I believe that real psychics have the gift of prophecy but from another spirit. This is why it would be dangerous to seek counsel from psychics.

Acts 16:16

Once when we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit by which she predicted the futrue. She earned a great deal of money for her owners by fortune-telling.

The following verses show that Paul casted out this spirit in the Name of Jesus. This spirit therefore was not of God.

Only seek the counsel of the Holy Spirit, not other spirits. The bible tells us the Holy Spirit is our counselor and comforter. Any other spirit will lead us in the wrong way.

I believe the same goes with horoscopes, astrology, etc.

There may be a temptation to seek counsel from psychics, tarot cards, or maybe mediums but these are dangerous.

Be in the Word and in prayer. The Holy Spirit is our comforter.

Here is a question for all of you who seem so sure of yourselves. How would you classify receiving a "word of knowledge"? Is that psyvhic? Or, is that Spirit led ministry? What is the difference? If the psychic tells the truth and reliably points to and honors God, could it then be another gift of the Spirit?

Here's my two cents worth. Of course, we need to be careful who we listen to. Of course, discernment should be exercised. And, yes, consulting psychics indiscriminately is just inviting demonic oppression. But, I don't think we should just say, across the board, that anyone who claims to know something they shouldn't know is spouting evil or under the influence. That is just lazy Christianity.

Daughter of the King, it was a good question.

They are real, just as Satan is real. They receive guidance from the devil.

Speaking of psychics LDStudent,

Have you examined the life of Joseph Smith very closely?

Daughter of the King, it was a good question.

Prophecy usually involves telling the things that will occur in the future, timely messages, and knowledge of the personal things in the lives of people. The word of knowledge on the other hand comes from study or things experienced by everyone. The knowledge of the personal things is different from the 'word of knowledge'. The 'word of knowledge' speaks of things that can apply to everyone whereas the prophet's word of knowledge is specific to the person's life.

A psychic who tells the truth and honors God is most likely a prophet of God. Psychics know things from the spiritual realm. There are also false prophets...these can be people who are receiving prophecy from unclean spirits or who are prophesying out of themselves (making things up). To discern prophecy we have to see that it lines up with scripture.

In discerning truth from deception, I believe that God is faithful to reveal it to us if we pray and open our bibles.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
