I'd let it go. I was taught that expression and never even knew it refered to "jews" per se....I just thought it meant to "haggle" over price....nothing racial.

That's just me....I wouldn't say that expression now....I wouldn't want to offend anyone but I never thought of it in racial terms. I figure the pastor doesn't know any better either...

Biblically, if yuo catch a brother in sin, you go to him in private first.

If he doesn't listen to you, then take your concern to the church leaders and then to the church body - correct?

If he still doesn't repent, then treat him as soemone who is in need of salvation.

As for taking this to the media - remember what Paul said about taking our grievences to the ungodly?

Keep judgment of church members within the church; don't take it out to the world.

It just means to "haggle" over a price of something. It's an old expression and I never even thought of Jews when I heard the expression....

But again, once I realized that Jews were ascribed as being rather frugal and clever in bargaining over trade, it didn't seem particularly offensive to me....I wouldn't mind being thought of as frugal myself.

maybe if you asked God to reveal more of this man's heart to you. Do you know if it was just a spell careless thoughlessness, or does this man have prejudices he might not think as serious? With all the anti-semitism going on in the world today, I would make sure your friend is on the right side. I wouldn't let it go, at least in prayer, since he has a position in the church.

I was recently informed that the word Gyp was derogatory toward Gypsies. I guess I am a little naive.

Regarding the media? They have enough garbage on the church.

I would confront him one on one about this.Tell him that it bothers you.He may not realize that it has hurt someone by saying this.Always approach with love

I would quietly go to him and gently tell him that his choice of words was not good, and why. Point out how using offensive racial slurs isnt appropriate or reflective of the Lord. After that, I think I would let it go. If you make too much of it beyond a private word, then your scene becomes offensive and doesnt reflect the Lord. Just my view.

He should be kept responsible for his words in front of the church, this is so wrong to use these words for putting a blame on somebody.

Didn't the Jews suffer enough, I see this as looking down at the Jews.

Yes, it is a racial slur and very innappropriate. Would he use racial slurs deragatory to other races from the pulpit? I hope he listens and it doesn't have to go any further.
