I was doing ok at a college and then I left because I got depression and things after that just got worse and worse. I realize I should never have left. Where was God in this? Why couldn't he have watched over me and taken better care of me and helped me through instead of watching me collapse and begin a downward spiral into misery?

A couple of years ago, I was very very ill. My hubby was just revealed to me as a drunk. I was so ill. I was sure I was going to die. The docs couldnt figure out what was wrong with me. They were talking months of hospitalization, surgery, long term treatment. The best I could hope for was amputation. The worst was death. At times I felt like I was being punished, and my drunk husband was being rewarded (he was getting to do all sorts of fun things to help him recover from alcoholism).

Where was God in all of this?

He was right there with me. I had to turn away from my chosen field of medicine. Medicine was failing me. Medicine wasnt fixing my health issue. I had to turn to the Lord. I had to give Him my anger over my hubby. I had to give Him my frustration over being so ill. I had to turn my life over to Him. Then He healed me. All praise and glory to the Lord.

Instead of blaming the Lord. Instead of complaining about where He is in all of this. Give praise to Him and draw closer to Him. Maybe instead of "where are you God?" you should be saying "I trust my life in your hands Lord, Your will be done."

Praise GOd for HIS ever faithfulness and love for us. HE is ever near to each one of us. Priase GOD for the healing in you, sister Jade and I so agree DOK with all Jade has said here.

To get the right answer, you must ask the right questions, Where are you in all of this? GOD is ever near! Draw closer to HIM and HE will draw closer to you. What is it we need to learn about GODs ways and about our ways to live in the full life , the abundant life HE has for us in JEsus? Oh Lord show me myself and change my heart Oh Lord, make me more like You!

With all the questions you are having about family, life, let God lead you and not think HE is not with you because you don't yet understand all you have grown up with or how to live a life differently than any abuse or unhealthy family life or any other nuimber of things you might be dealing with. GOd will show you what a healthy spiritual family is like. He is the True Father and is love and trustworthy. The love and freedom of trust. Keep following HIM and when you find failures, accept it and go on and let GOD lead you. HE is ever knowing and omnipresent, it isn't HIM when we don't have what we want or know what we need, it is US!

May your walk in Christ deepen and trust abound!

Create in me a clean heart oh Lord. May HE make you more like HIM and may you know HIM, really know HIm. Then you will not doubt HIm anymore.

Lovein Christ,

elkie

Little Sister:

Sometimes we don't know why we go through the things we go through. It's probably for some of the reasons previous posters have stated here. Sometimes it just seems like we get the short end of the stick, and God doesn't really tell us WHY.

He does tell us that '...all things work together for good to those who love God...' In other words, God has given us His word, that He only does what is best for us, and He leaves us to believe that, or not to believe it as we choose......

what doesn't kill you most generally makes you stronger....... from all this I think there are things to come that you will be much better equipped to handle. Just remember to thank Him when the times come and you realize what this was all about.

My first question would be....did you seek Him? Do you have a personal, thriving relationship with Jesus Christ?

there have been so many times in my life when i thought God had taken a vacation and forgotten to send me a postcard. but in retrospect, i can look back at those times and see that when God remained silent to my pleas, it was invariably because i kept fighting for MY will, not His... it was always times when i wasn't listening to Him... not submitting to His will. this caused terrible depressions, and waning of faith, and that's not even to mention the calamity that would come to my life.

and then every time i finally broke down and submitted to His will in my life, the blessings started pouring in, the depression lifted, and my faith became stronger.

perhaps there is a battle of wills going on between you and God?

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed

he was walking along the beach with the LORD.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.

For each scene he noticed two sets of

footprints in the sand: one belonging

to him, and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him,

he looked back at the footprints in the sand.

He noticed that many times along the path of

his life there was only one set of footprints.

He also noticed that it happened at the very

lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he

questioned the LORD about it:

"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow

you, you'd walk with me all the way.

But I have noticed that during the most

troublesome times in my life,

there is only one set of footprints.

I don't understand why when

I needed you most you would leave me."

The LORD replied:

"My son, my precious child,

I love you and I would never leave you.

During your times of trial and suffering,

when you see only one set of footprints,

it was then that I carried you."

Footprints is a beautiful poem, but sometimes I think it's offered prematurely. Before we can assume that someone was being "carried", we have to determine if they were walking with the Lord in the first place. Until we can offer real hope and direct her to answers she can cling to, I think we need to evaluate what her relationship with God is like. Maybe she hasn't responded to Him initially for salvation yet. If that's the case, no matter what verses, experiences or beautiful prose we share...it wall all fall short of meeting her primary need: to know God in an intimate and personal way.

The point is,m not all is as it seems. You can't blame God for not being there when you choose to go off the path of righteousness. God is there for those who call on Him through trials and victories.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
