Hello.

I was wondering what a christians opinion on extra-terrestrial life is.

Do you believe there is life on any of the galaxies/planets?

My personal belief is that there are hundreds of billions of planets out there, what makes Earth so special?

If you don't believe in extra terrestrial life how do you picture yourselves reacting when we find proof of life on another planet?

I like to use this equation in applying logic to my opinions.

R * FP * NE * FL * FI * FC * LN = N = number of advanced technical civilizations emitting detectable radio signals.

R = mean rate of star formation averaged over the lifetime of the galaxy.

FP = fraction of stars with planetary systems.

NE = mean number of planets per system with environments suitable for the origin of life.

FL = fraction of such planets on which life does develop.

FI = fraction of such planets on which intelligent life rises during the lifetime of the local sun.

FC = fraction of planets on which advanced technical civilizations rises.

L = lifetime of this technical civilization.

This basically means 1 million of the 100 billion stars in our Milky Way galaxy have planets which have developed advanced intelligent civilizations. If we consider the astronomical fact that there are over 10 billion galaxies in the universe, each holding at least another million solar systems, one may start to think that we may not be the only life in the universe.

I wouldn't doubt if there is life on other planets. God created the entire universe for His own glory...it makes sense that some form of life could exist on other planets. At the same time, you will not find intelligent lifeforms capable of emitting radio signals. For one, if this was occuring, we should have already run into them. And secondly, more importantly, man holds a special place for God because we are created in His image. This means that of His physical creation we are the only ones that hold advanced intelligence and culture. While all animals have somewhat of a survival intelligence, humans have one that surpasses this, and we are the only biological creatures that hold this. You will probably find biological life on other planets, but you will not find advanced intelligence.

Wait a minute, you're getting ahead of yourself. Scientists have more evidence to suggest there is such life capable of emitting radio signals than you have for your opinion. So far, you haven't given me any examples. It's actually very probable that intelligent life exists out there.

Errt, we're not talking about "angels", we're talking about physical beings, made using carbon, like us.

Have you got any reputable sources from space exploration scientists to suggest that your theory of beings coming to earth & raping the woman could be correct?

Plus, saying that aliens raping women brought floods is going a bit too far. Why on earth would it bring floods?

A trouble-maker would be someone who doesn't actually respond to a reply and just cries, "not enough" without justifying such a claim.

Of course this issue is often brought up and portrayed as a threat to the Christian faith and that is why the mainline press always gets so excited with any new discovery of possible life beyond our planet. They believe if they can prove there is other life then they assume that destroys the truth of the Bible for some reason. However that is not really the case since the Bible doesn't really say anything one way or the other about the issue.

We live in a conspiracy culture now and that is why shows like Art Bell and others do so well. As culture and education decrease, superstitions and belief in silly things seems to go up. People have great of faith in things like flying saucers, voodoo, and the occult in all forms and they do so based on the flimsiest evidence. If God chose to creat other life in a distant galaxy then that would be fine with me. However, I am still waiting for Michael Renne to land his spaceship in Washington DC like in The Day the Earth Stood Still and I am also not holding my breath. Unfortunately they usually seem to fly and land in distant rural areas with few witnesses and they never say take me to your leader.
