Hi all.

I've read the discussions or so for a year and a half, and I contacted someone about the debate board. Perhaps it is best left here for other interaction. I have a person I've invited to engage on the subject of the King James Only controversy. We held a debate on this a few years ago on "Charisma." Now, I'm sure some of you will ask, "Why not have it there?" Well, he's been banned from "Charisma," although he still somehat deviously posts under two other similar names - but he continues to make reference to me. I'll see in the next couple of days whether he shows up. You will find two sides - my cheerful one and I'll let you see what you get with him.

He has taken this argument to Amazon enough and a few of his reviews have been removed - so take that for what it's worth. I like a lot of y'all. As you can see, I registered over a year ago, but I'm really just now getting around to it all. I'm in seminary at Dallas, so I hope this will be rather exciting. Incidentally, I will be taking the 'denial' side. I do not believe the KJV to be the 'only' Bible in English (or for that matter any language). I say this in the interest of full disclosure up front.

Thanks,

Maestroh

I have been involved in several debates here at Worthy Boards concerning this subject, on the side of KJV only, and believe another debate on this same subject is a waste of time. Both sides have laid out their case in several threads and nobody that I know of has changed their mind. I seriously doubt you are going to add anything new that will make me suddenly throw up my hands and say, "I guess I was wrong all along."

Have you read the previous threads in this web-site to see if there is a new argument you can add that hasn't already been mentioned? If you have and still think you have new evidence to add to the debate, I will be glad to look at it. By the way, I think the KJV only view is the minority one anyway. My feeling on the subject is, if you want to read new translations, more power to you, but I will stay with the 1611 version. I believe the Textus Receptus to be the only reliable manuscripts and the KJV to be the only fully accurate English translation and have only become stronger in that position through prior debates.

By the way, though I don't agree with your position in this matter, I am glad to see you decided to share your views. You've been here a whole year and haven't posted till now? What took you so long? Welcome to worthy boards.

Butero and I disagree on KJV only but I take his side on this post and ask what can you add that is going to change anyone? This is a can of worms that doesn't need to be reopened.

Again I would like to quote what a pastor once said about this subject. "I don't know the best version, but I know the worst version. The UNREAD version".

Isn't funny how we can get all tied up in higher critical issues and miss the simple message? Even saved humanity has a tendency to be one big contradiction. Hello Maestroh...Are you going to Dallas Theological Seminary or Southwestern or some other school?

Yep,I would agree there. A forum isn't likely to change anybody's mind.

Your Pastor is indeed right.

For me the only bad thing about some translations is that the poetic nature of certain passages are ruined. Take Psalm 23 for example.

1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. (NIV)

1 The LORD is my shepherd; I have everything I need.(NLT)

Some of the poetic nature gets lost in the NLT.

But this I will say. I have had great experience with the KJV, NIV, and NLT. In some instances one translation has been more understandable than the other.

And of course we have this new entry in the modern era.

HOLY BIBLE:TEXT MESSAGE VERSION

"In da Bginnin God cre8d da heavens & da earth,"

Grace to you,

The position of this Ministry is to build up and Edify the Body on the Word of God and with the Spirit of which we are all born again. We shall know each other and be known by our Love.

There is so very much work to be done. The heads of wheat are full and the Harvest is Nigh. Let's get to work.

I do not think a hearty debate is a bad thing. However a debate where Coarsness is the standard will not be allowed. The fact that your friend has denied the Terms of Service at another online Ministry doesn't present a very good picture.

Let's use our God given discernemnt and move forward for the Kingdom today. Souls for Jesus Saint's, out of the gratitude of our Saved hearts. ;)

Peace,

Dave

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
