Why do I need to see a fake version of the "gospel" in order to dispell the darkness and become 'credible'? My case against it is the TRUTH of Gods word and His spirit living within me.

I hate to say it but if this movie is causing people to lose their faith then they never had it to start with.

Even the man who wrote it admits it's a work of fiction! It don't get no plainer than that.

Let satan sift.

If one does not have strong enough faith to withstand this man's fallacious arguments, then they SHOULDN'T read it! And yes, there are those who shouldn't, and I say that with objectivity, not scorn. But to those who feel called to apologetics, yes, we need to maintain our credibility, for the sake of others, for the sake of their souls, even for the sake of the brethren whose faith is challenged by The DaVinci Code or whatever other hogwash is being spread on any given day.

And yes, the guy started out saying that it was a work of fiction, but in a recent interview, he told the interviewer that if he were to re-write it as a non-fiction, he would not change the "facts" in the book ("fact" was his word...certainly not the one I would use).

To put your money in the pocket of the actors and producers who spew out this garbage is to take part in their sin.

Did I not already explain how I would read and view this story for free?? Read the whole conversation.

I guess i'm a little curious to know why christians feel they need to see it, knowing it is false???

When presenting your case against something, people who are arguing for it rarely consider the arguments of people who have not seen it. It's a credibility issue: what are you going to believe more? a first-hand, eyewitness account, or a secondary or tertiary source? Logically, a first-hand account is usually far more reliable than a third-hand report tainted by two other people's world-views.

I can't see how filling your head with lies can help you present the truth. :noidea:

*sigh* I JUST explained that.

I will read this book and see the movie.

Why? So that I'm not just hearing Joe-internet's second- or third-hand information on it. I need to read it for myself to gather my arguments against it. I do this by fact-checking the whole way through, both compared against the Bible and historical accounts (accurate ones, to the best of my knowledge). So, in reality, I'm not filling my head withh lies, I'm ultimately filling my head with the truth to ARM myself against the lies. Solid arguments simply cannot be founded on hearsay. Capiche?

From what I have heard, the whole thing is a stumling block for young new christians who are seeking for the truth which is written in God's holy word.....it's called..blasphemy

Well I do agree with you on the fact that all this false teachings from the movie could indeed be a major "Stumbling Block" for new Christians. It's the responsibility of more mature Christians to help them through that though. I personally won't get into an outrage over the movie, because I know there is no proof and everything in that movie are lies! I have nothing to worry about because I just believe what God's Word says and that's all.

It's a BOOK! Don't give a novel the same power as the Bible. ronelleh, there are other threads where you can read what I think about the Code. I think Christians are getting bent out of shape on this one for nothing.

it would be one thing if the book was simply a novel but at the beginning of the book the author claims that the book itself is factual..........

I may be out of shape for it but I will NOT support it nor those who do.

Thats a strong word - blasphemy. Hey, I read the book and saw the movie, and I dare say IT WAS A WORK OF FICTION!! It did not rattle my Faith System.

If anything, it may have had me thinking, perhaps Jesus Did marry and have a child, how wrong could that be? After all, for him to be the Messiah, didn't he need to 'fullfill all the law and prophets'? Which may have included, marriage and family things?

I find it amusing how one work of fiction could cause such division. I've read plenty of works of fiction, such as the Nardia Tales, and that didn't make me believe Lions could talk in real life. Sure those stories had a 'moral', a plot and so forth. DaVinci Code does as well. It was NOT based on a true story, there was no murder of any Louve personnel, and the Author never actually met any person who was from Jesus' blood line. It just, for me, is a very good drama. Makes a person think, but it did not make me question the nature of God, or second guess his love for mankind.

I suppose if a person is a devoute Trinitarian, and believes Jesus is GOD the father, then it could rattle your cage. So does the very idea of a 'virgin birth', to many people. For me, tho, it was a great work of fiction. I enjoyed the entire movie more than I did the book. Does that make me the 'anti-christ' -- I THINK NOT.

I've noticed that the thing to do today is to 'go see' or 'read' all the smut that Hollywood or whoever puts out, in the name of making oneself more equipt to evangelize.

Probably if just those calling themselves christians would stop lining these peoples pockets there wouldn't be a reason for damage control in the first place.

If you want to help those being deceived then ((boycott)) and take care of the root first.

I don't think he said that the book was factual. I just read it again and what he said was that the Priory of Sion, Opus Dei,and the art work, architecture, documents and secret rituals were true.

well, I know that Opus Dei is real, but I personally have a problem with the Priory thing. The artwork and the other things are a reality, but I don't know that I would agree with his interpretation of what artwork was saying.

Like most Novels, he took a group of things that are a reality and played with them to make a good "Fiction" story. Using things that are realand putting them into the realm of fiction to make the novel come to life.

He did not say the book was true. I do disagree with the Priory of Sion being a reality

I personally think this book and movie is good in the long run, for anyone who would give credence to this movie as being real is in real trouble spiritually....... maybe this will bring it out and someone can discuss it with them and save some souls.

By the way just in case you want to know.... I enjoyed both the book and the movie as a pure fictional presentation. It has already made it possible to discuss the real world with several people who would not have asked about things had they not read the book.

Of course there is always the remote possibility that the Priory of Sion worked it out so we would not believe that they existed..... Hey, things happen...... :emot-LOL:

After having read the book and seen the movie, I fail to understand how anything written or shown in the DaVinci Code would even bring QUESTION to the Diety of God. They mentioned Jesus getting married to Mary Magdeline, Jesus was supposedly God's son, born of a woman, living on earth as a man. Why would the possibility of him getting married and having offspring throw off HIS purpose on earth?

I would think God would have wanted him to experience everything that other men have the priviledge to?

Just my thoughts.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
