is glaobal warming real? i dont think it is deniable to anyone who is paying attention. is it caused by man? some say so, but i look at the evidence that all of the planets in the solar system are warming up at the same time. coincidence?

and there is of course evidence in the geologic record of past high and low temps on the planet. are we simply entering a different phase of a natural cycle?

i see two problems. the first is the earth is warming up. this is not our problem, it is God's and he is the one controlling the sun, which is where the warming is coming from. i am not the least bit afraid of what the lord does.

the problem is man. he is poisoning this planet. its not like we can choose a different meal like daniel and his friends did(another diet story, all you swine diners out there). our earth gets rain from the same sky as china, and we breath the same air as india, and the atomic radioactive particles from the war in iraq continues to fall out of the sky all around the globe.

the bible says that except those days be shortened, there would no flesh be saved. i dont agree with the "man is causing global warming" crowd. but i do think the direction they want to go in is the right one. we need to clean up our act. the earth is truly our mother, and we are not honoring her at all. that means a shorter life for all of us.

I understand but I take what you write with a grain of salt. After seeing how you treat people, deny scripture in favor of saying "God told you" (as if you are infallible when "hearing" from God), and how you neglect your family, I don't see the reason why I should put weight into what you write.

Regarding the topic, I've seen the satellite images of the ice melting. I'll post them if I find them. Whether the cause is environmental, natural, due to pollution....I don't know. Either way, once you see the images, it's pretty hard to deny that the earth is definately warming up. What was your point?

Some left wing scientists have so politicized science and destroyed their credibility that even if global warming were true I wouldn't believe what they have to say about it. And the fact that a buffoon like Al Gore is using it as the basis for his next run for President makes it even harder to believe.

Agreed that these radicals make it hard to believe, but Global Warming is a fact. We have seen a steady increase in temp, rising oceans, loss of artic ice, etc.

The debate, really, is over whether this is caused by man's actions, natural actions, or a little bit of both.

Does anyone remember (or even those who couldn't remember back that far could look it up and read about it) about 30 years ago or so when everybody seemed to be panicking about "global cooling". People were saying things like "we are heading into another ice age and the lakes are going to freeze over, oh lackaday, lackaday, woe is me, the sky is falling".

Well, then I learnt not to take things too seriously.

It does seem to have become obvious lately that something drastic is happening to the earth's weather pattern, definitely. We have had unprecedented storms just about everywhere in the world, the area where I lived in up until two years ago has had major flooding every year for the past 6 years or so and just two days ago a large part of the country was blanketed in snow and the roads were "treacherous" with wind and rain (and most of us are unequipped to cope with this). My son works in "logging" and they will ususally do their work no matter what the weather is doing and just "put up with it", but he was home by 7am on Monday and I haven't been able to go to work this week either as I work in "the mussels" and the weather has made mussel harvesting impossible. Also "climate change" (or maybe something else) has meant that the mussels that are grown in the sounds here are a lot less and a lot smaller than they were in previous years. Of course, all this is "nothing" compared to what has been happening in other countries, I've heard some real horror stories.

However, having said that I believe quite strongly that man most certainly is NOT causing global warming and no matter what we do or any amount of money we give to "environmental groups" or government agencies is going to make the slightest bit of difference.

Global warming is probably a cyclic thing. It sure is nothing new, I was reading about Julius Ceasar's first visit to the British Isles, and he found evidence that grapes had been grown in the south of the country. (And Gee, he must have been "kicking himself" because he wasn't around when the weather changed to "tax" people for it).

The idea that man is responsible for global warming must be one of the biggest scams perpetrated recently (the "millenium bug" comes a close second) and the creation of the "Kyoto protocol" (mainly, I believe, thought up by Enron) and governments seizing on it and telling people "we will fix it, just give us bucketloads of money to do it with" is really cynically playing on peoples' desperation - or stupidity. If Al Gore really believes in this weirdo theory, then I pray desperately that he never gets a "foothold" in the White House.

I have read just about all I could find on this issue, mainly so I could counter peoples' arguments that "we should be doing this, that and the other for global warming because it is all our fault" and most of the time the "science" that says that global warming is "man's fault" is referred to as junk science and it would seem that scientists really have evidenced that the "popular theory" is a load of rubbish, but these findings have been supressed because it is more financially viable to say the opposite. If you have trouble believing this just consider that global warming is simultaneously occurring on other planets (I had an really great article called "global warming on Mars" but I just can't find it now, I probably could if I had all day to look, but I don't).

Our own PM proudly signed the "Kyoto protocol" "on behalf of NZ" (though there was no public discussion and this was very much a personal decision, I believe that she should be personally liable for the money that has been lost through her actions) and now she has the cheek to say "NZ was behind me". The PM's words at the time: "We have the potential to make money out of this and NZ doesn't want to miss out". So far, it has cost us half a billion dollars. This is the sort of thing I mean when I talk about "government is evil".
