It sure would be nice if we had some men come in here and share with us how it is hard to love thier wife.....

We certainly can be unlovable at times... :whistling:

It does tell us men a few things -

  • Col 3:19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

1Pe 3:7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

Sometimes she cannot get beyond that feeling and thinks I do not love her . . . or respect her opinion in matters and she will hold a grudge . . . yet regardless I must do what I am convicted is best if I do truly love her.

Sometimes people just need to reconsider just how did Jesus love the church? . . . since we are instructed to love our wives as such.

Jesus did not cater to the church's whims and desires, rather He did what was necessary to protect and preserve her so that she could have means and opportunity to prepare herself to be what she was called to be . . . holy.

    • 2Co 11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it;
26 That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 That He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

1Pe 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

Re 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

True love doesn

Now why isn't there a huge argument going on in here like the other one? lol. I think the most beautiful picture of marriage (and specifically a husband's role) is found in the relationship between Hosea and Gomer. Now that man had to love an unlovely woman....

Excellent point Tah.

I wonder why the men arent complaining that they HAVE to love their wives?

:)

Exactly.

The thing is, you're not going to get a lot of responses from men on this because the men that fit this criteria aren't going to admit it; they always see themselves falling short or at least are humble enough not to think they are the shining example. Really, the requirement to be a husband is much harder than we think; "head" of the household means we put the interest of our family before our own. You can't just accept that new high paying job if it's not going to be beneficial to your family. You can't spend money on the toys you want because you have your children's educations to pay for. Being a husband/father is about being sacrificial.....which is hard and we all fall short. I imagine that you'd always feel inadequate, like you weren't doing enough. Not a husband yet, so I wouldn't know. :P

I asked my husband for examples of how it was hard to love me and he blushed... :21:

Can't say as I blame him..I would hate to be asked that question... ;)

Then he said the Scripture that came to his mind was in Proverbs...

Pro 27:15 A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike. ;)

:24:

Good thing my feelings don't get hurt to easy...

And he said it with a smile on his face...

Careful what questions you ask ladies...the truth can hurt...... :24:

Anyhow..I can sure see how he would have come up with that Scripture...

I am afraid I could be counted as one of those contentious women at times...

Boy did he have to work at loving... :24:

Praise God he persevered... :24:

I liked your posts blindseeker and AK...

Ladies...do you really want to know how hard it is for your husband to love you? :whistling:

I would suggest you ask with a heart that is open and willing and wanting to change to be a better wife... :24:

Otherwise the poor guy could have a contentious woman on his hands... :24:

It doesn't matter how hard it is. He, as an obedient son of God, must do it anyway, with all his might. It is hard for anyone to love like Jesus, and that is precisely what a husband is called to do. Precisely why marriage is a solemn decision.

From what I can tell...some wives are just hard to love! :whistling:

Marnie's role for her ideal husband: pastor, poolboy, lawnboy, chef, masseur, accountant, stand up comedian, plummer, electrician and all around miracle worker. :24: I can't imagine why I am single.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
