I don't personally use any translation except the King James Bible, because it is the only one that comes from the Textus Receptus, the original manuscripts used by the early church. The other translations come from numerous less reliable manuscripts found in various caves.

In addition, if you believe that God preserved his Word, all translations cannot be equal, because they say differen't things. I didn't always hold to this view, but after comparing modern translations with the KJV, I have seen so many changes, I won't have anything to do with the new ones anymore. I would suggest you compare scriptures from your Bible with the King James Version and see if they say the same thing. Then you be the judge.

The Modern King James version uses the Textus Receptus too.

And if you want to compare how the KJV you use deleted things, I would be more than happy to show you.

The doctrine of inspiration applies only to the original autographs, not to translations and not to the manuscripts we have today. All translations are the result of committees of men, doing their best to present a readable, honorable version of very old documents. Knowledge of the original languages increases all the time, which is why I maintain--sorry Butero--the KJV is unreliable. We just know more now than when it was translated. Further, the NIV does not cut out verses or parts of verses. Portions in question appear in the footnotes. I have met John Kohlenburger, one of the translators of the original NIV and know him to be a godly man, filled with the Holy Spirit and a very able historian and scholar in both OT Hebrew and NT Greek.

If someone removes any part of any bible, be it KJV, NIV, NkJV, NASB, it becomes a fake. And that goes for the ones like the amplified who add bits in. God hand picked his writers and it is my belief, that His translaters were hand picked as well, even if they didn't know it themselves. God must have known there would be some blockheads like me in the pipeline and I have no trouble with the KJV

It doesn't surprise me that people attempt to change what

God's message is to suite themselves. Yet it saddens me!

Since the topic did come up I do have a question someone may

be able to answer about comparing bibles.

I have 2 on hand bibles KJV and the NAB and many others on

the web. I really like them both.

My question is when comparing the contents I am stumped as to

why the books of Tobit and Judith are left out of the KJV, so if

anyone has the answer I'd appreciate it.

No arguments though I'm really just interested I hold nothing

against the KJV I still like it too!

God Bless!

:)

:) Butero,

Thx for responding so quickly, yes both Tobit and Judith are in my NAB

but I'm not sure if there's more than one version of the NAB mines is

the Saint Joseph Edition.

I really like being able to compare bibles and I will try and find out if

my esword can get the earlier editions you mention, if not I'll be on

the look out at bookstores for them.

God Bless!

I'm glad I could clear that up for you. Other books of the Apocrypha include:

1 ESDRAS

2 ESDRAS

THE REST OF ESTHER

WISDOM OF SOLOMON

ECCLESIASTICUS

BARUCH

SONG OF THE 3 HOLY CHILDREN

SUSANNA

BEL AND THE DRAGON

PRAYER OF MANESSEH

1 MACCABEES

2 MACCABEES

That is interesting that your Bible would include Tobit and Judith and leave these out. By the way, you should be able to get one of these Bibles from Gullions Christian Supply store. That is the local Christian Book Store I usually do business with. While their physical location is in North Carolina, they are also on-line. http://www.gullions.com

God bless you too. :)

 again lol,

okay my NAB has all on your list except for the following :

Esdras 1 & 2

Susanna

Bel and the Dragon

Prayer of Menessah

these also are not in my KJV

So now I'm really anxious to actually read these missing

books lol, you've peeked my interest extremely lol!

God Bless!

I don't agree with altering scripture to the point that

it no longer means what God intended it to mean!

I have been predicting for years that the result of all the modern translations would be the printing of new Bibles tailored to fit the audience. If someone wants the Bible to read in a certain fashion, they will make one for them. They began this with the gender neutral abomination and the New World Translation, but it won't stop there. There will be more subtle Bibles especially promoting the doctrine of the churches they are marketed to. To outright remove "difficult parts" of scripture and admit it is pretty bold, but translations like the NIV have already been deleting and changing portions of scripture. It will only get worse. Best bet, stay with the King James Version only.

Good to bring up the translations that we already have. I think when I first started out in the faith, wanting a new Bible I was more trusting of the translations that were out even though I was still concerned about what might have been lost in the two thousand years since Christ. Maybe it was beneficial in the days of the Catholic Church that they didn't translate the Bible and pass it out to everyone because then they would have likely done just this, with adding and subtracting to the Word of God. At least then their method was just to keep a great majority of people from actually being able to read it (part sarcasm but something to still think about). But anyway, I actually worried if modern Bibles were ever edited in this fashion and we just never knew about it. That's worse, and far more scary to me because those re-printing the Bible don't even have to tell us what they've done. sure, with the older versions we should know but it's not like everyone today can have access to the older translations. Like you said, I guess that does make it a good thing that at least there's still the KJ version. Perhaps it's older than political correctness.

:whistling: I was appalled by this guy's statements though. Sure, some of us might have expected this sort of thing to happen sometime, but I just cant believe it. The things he's actually unafraid to come right out and say.... it's horrible! I mean, I think it was one thing to really feel that way even when one calls himself/herself a Christian and attends church and all that, but I can't believe that these guys are actually taking out portions of the Bible. What ever happened to humility!? I can't believe this!! And here some of us are thinking that Americans are bad for being materialistic and horribly selfish and just completely idiotically misled by the pleasures of this world!! See! I just want to say, that in some small part at least, this just has to prove that without Christ telling some of us to, people wouldn't likely even be kind-hearted and giving and concerned for the less fortunate. I bet they think they have good fortune either from their own merit/hard work/efforts or just because they're so good the rewards are evidence of how deserving they are. Sorry about the diatribe, it's just wow, just think about the kind of access people with those beliefs could have to newcomers to the faith... I can't imagine having only a few copies in circulation that weren't in some way edited to please the hearts of evil, selfish men. :emot-highfive::whistling:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
