No I think the majority of what you hear is that "Leave it to Beaver" is an O.K. ideal, but don't beat yourself up if you can't live up to it.

Don't be so hard on yourself. There are some here that agree with you to a point. I too have fond memories of the 60s and I wish I could live in mayberry. The point is though, that there have been some positive changes made since then as well. I think maybe those times seemed more innocent because I saw them through the eyes of a child. The news was some boring show that my dad watched so I didn't have a clue what was going on in the world, which brings me to the point that the world was still a relatively mysterious place at that time, which made the cheesey sci-fi movies seem like great possibilities. :)

Life is loaded with pros and cons. ;)

Well, I don't necessarily miss the 'good ol days'. Think about it, back then, we couldn't fellowship on the internet like this. :b:

I lived through the 'Leave It To Beaver', 'Father Knows Best', and the 'Ossie and Harriet' days, they were good days.

I think the implication has to do with a couple of things:

First, Dems claim to be the progressive party to carry American in the future. My US government professor gave us his definition of liberal and conservative. Liberal - progressive, the willingness to think we can come together and solve problems (abbreviated). Conservative - the unwillingness to change. To recall past failures and learn by them. btw- my professor is a liberal. He doesn't seem to think that the past failures of liberalism should be regarded as a reason not to move forward with their ideas. I started to challenge this with him in class, but then I thought NAH!, I just need to pass the class, let it go.

Second, it implies Reps, and in particular the evangelical Christians who pushed Bush over the top in 2004, are simple minded.

This sort of "education" is why - in just one generation - the "liberal" agenda is going to triumph. It rather reminds me of "education" in Stallinist Russia. "Get rid of any educationalists who 'question' the state and teach students to 'toe the line'".

One thing about the "Ozzie & Harriet" days was that teachers and professors weren't allowed to "push" their own political agenda on the students.

"Education" should be absolutely neutral and unbiased, not indoctrination into the way "we want you to think".

If "studying" is going to be this way now, think how it will be for the next generation.

I wasn't alive until '73, so I missed those days. Do they all feature families in the suburbs?

I'm single (looking), and live in a big city, so I can't relate to their lifestyle. I don't know if they were Christian, but I pattern my life on Christ, not random TV characters. (Not to sound harsh) :emot-highfive:

Women in the house and the men out at work?

I believe this to be a biblical notion. It beats having strangers raise our kids while we pursue the american dream. :whistling:

I agree that this was a good thing, and your right it does beat strangers raising our kids. I find it strange that people that don't like this concept are the liberals. What does that tell you. I too grew up in "those days" You will notice we did not have the drugs we do now, no drive by shootings, no gangs, we never heard of AIDS. We could let kids go to their friends and let them walk home at night without the fear of someone kidnapping them and molesting them. Our schools didn't have metal detectors, and those of us who grew up in that time didn't spend time in jail. Yes they were good days, I wish they were back. This world today is just to self absorbed, we are more interested in making money then taking our kids to Sunday School. Yup we've come a long way baby...to bad it's in the wrong direction.

In public, you're not allowed to talk about the good ol' days unless you're finding fault (which usually means finding things that are Politically Incorrect). Those were the good days. I'm sorry I was born too late to enjoy them.

Vexillum - what is this about. Who says we can't speak in public or state what we want. Seems everyone can do that, but Christians? :whistling:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
