It's pretty common knowledge that most Jews lean toward the Democrat party. The reason generally given is because of what happened during WW 2. The party in power that brought about an end to the war was FDR and the Democrats.

I still don't understand this ..

the dems are not that supportive of the Jewish community from what I have seen..??????

Just because FDR was helpful does not mean the "today" dems are...

There has to be another reason...

What could it possibly be..:noidea:

WWII has nothing to do with Jewish affinity for the Democratic party.

Jews tend to be very liberal, politically. They're movers and shakers in the Democratic party. Most of the don't support the zionist policies of the Republican party. And, Evangelicals scare them.

Funny how some people who don't know what Zionism is, are so quick to run off at the mouth about what constitutes a "Zionist policy." You obviously are nothing but a propaganda parrot. The US has never had a "Zionist policy."

I would not mind critics of Israel so much if they were not so historically illiterate. The "Zionist" United States reject calls for help from Israel when Israel was under simultaneous attack by 6 Arab nations in 1948. The "Zionist" United States has allowed Israel to fight every war on its own. The "Zionist" United States under Carter, has kept Israel from being energy independent by forcing Israel to give back the Sinai, which Israel legally took control of after being attacked by Egypt in '73, has supported the Palestinians over Israel on many occasions (both Repbulican and Democrat). The "Zionist" Republican government was one of Israel's most virulent critics when Israel bombed Saddam Husein's Nuclear facility. The "Zionist" Republican government is the one that started the downhill slope of "peace process" beginning with George Bush Sr. and the Madrid Peace Conference.

The "Zionist" Republican government is the chief author of the "Road Map to Hell" that is currently still in play. The "Zionist" Republicans favored the withdraw from Gaza and continue to favor the withdraw from the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Those are not "Zionist" polices.

Here is what Zionism is:

Zionism is:

  • The National Liberation movement of the Jewish People.
  • It is the modern expression of the ancient longing by the Jewish People to return to their land and live as a free people once again.
  • It is the desire to secure a modern state for the Jewish nation.
  • It is the conviction that the Jewish people has the right to live in freedom and security in its homeland.
  • It is the determination to aid and encourage the return of any and all Jewish refugees of the Diaspora who wish to return home.
  • It is the concern for the safety and security of that modern state, and the desire to see it strong enough to defend itself and the Jewish people as a whole from any present or future existential threat.

Anti-Zionism is the denial of all the above. If the above description were instead applied to ANY other race of people, the denial of those rights would be called hatred and racial prejudice/discrimination. The standard of course is altered when Jews are part of the equation.

Also, nothing in the above is anti-Arab, nor can it be deemed "colonialistic," or "expansionsist."

Honestly the Jews cannot win for losing. If a Jew is generous, charitable and an advocate for human rights, then he has an ulterior motive (usually accused of having aspirations of world domination), if he is not so generous and charitable, then he characterized as typical "greedy" Jew. No matter which party he votes for, no matter which direction he turns, someone will find a reason why a Jewish person is bad because of the decisions he makes.

I suggest you check out this article for enlightenment: The Democratic Party and the Jews

Some excerpts: (but do read the entire article, it's too long to reproduce here)

The Democratic Party has been a congenial political home for many American Jews since the era of FDR. The party welcomed them into its ranks (along with many blacks and urban dwellers) and its programs comported well with many values Jews cherish. The Party was also seen as one that had offered help to the doomed Jews of Europe, opposed prejudice, and supported the fledgling state of Israel from enemies that boasted of its plans to destroy the state.

Conversely, the Republican Party was perceived to be a WASP enclave, isolationist in its outlook, and weak on support for Israel (though George C. Marshall under the Truman Administration advocated abandoning Israel to the tender mercies of its Arab neighbors).

However, these views are now anachronistic and need to be revisited.

The loyalty American Jews have shown to the Democratic Party is increasingly not appreciated or reciprocated. As the Jewish population faces demographic decline, the Democratic Party is increasingly beholden to groups for which Israel is of no importance whatsoever (unions, for example). Several groups that form the core of the Democratic Party have anti-Semitism rates that are higher than the American population as a whole. As the party skews to the left, it has increasingly adopted the anti-Israel philosophy and attitudes that animate so many on the left.

In an era when over half the world

Here's an item on the U.S. Jewish mindset. From Arutz Sheva:

Mainstream American Jewish organizations largely have refused to aid the thousands of Jews evacuated last summer from the Gaza Strip, the majority of whom, fifteen months later, are unemployed, and none of whom received permanent housing promised by the Israeli government, WND has learned.

The former Gaza residents have appealed for help multiple times to major American Jewish organizations but say they were mostly rejected.

Meanwhile the U.S. Jewish groups, most of which supported Israel's withdrawal from Gaza, raised over $300 million for northern Israeli communities battered by Hezbollah rocket fire in July and August, including large sums of money for Arab villages.

Also the American Jewish organizations recently initiated a major task force to raise money for underprivileged Israeli Arabs.

"With few exceptions, we have received almost no help from the mainstream Jewish American groups, which grant billions of dollars per year," said Dror Vanunu, a former Gaza resident and the international coordinator for Friends of Gush Katif, a major nonprofit organization representing the Gaza Jewish refugees.

Vanunu said the U.S. Jewish groups "supported the Gaza withdrawal, telling Americans it would help bring peace. They see us in a political light, but it shouldn't be this way. There are now thousands of Jews who are without permanent homes and whose children are having major problems.

Howard Dean's wife is Jewish isn't she? I don't see being Jewish as necessarily being pro-Israel. I mean.....you don't have to be Israeli to be Jewish; you can be Jewish and live in any country of the world and not all Jews are pro-Israel since Israel is a separate country and all. A small minority of Jews even consider the Israeli situation as being harmful to the rest of the world's Jewish people of many nationalities.

I'm white anglo saxon protestant but I sure as heck don't support all other predominately white protestant countries policies.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
