I pray to my Father In Heaven because that is how Jesus taught us to pray, and I close my prayers with "In Jesus Name" because we are told to pray in Jesus name.

BFP

Exactly.

I start all my prayer's ( when I do pray ) with the Lord's Prayer.

I pray to God through Jesus. that is all we are to do. Saints are dead christians, and they haven't got the hearing for prayers, as they are too busy worshiping Jesus! Praying to saints is idolatry.

I have worship and prayertime and journalling for about an hour each morning while it'still dark, and as the Bible tells us, we need to be praying without ceasing--so with a prayerful attitude, knowing that the Holy Spirit is my constant companion, I talk to Him often throughout the day. It is a blessed life! But I need to get up earlier, as I need more time--maybe as the Lord leads, I will try to get up earlier! Not fun sometimes, but it is a good discipline. Put it off for years, but now that it is part of a routine, I can no sooner miss that than I could a meal!

Blessings!

If you do pray to the Saints, do you think they have any power to act on your prayers?

The reason I'm asking is because I currently go to a bible study, mainly because I have so many questions that I want answered. However, sometimes you can't come out to the people you know and ask a stupid question like this. Hopefully, the people in this chat forum will help me resolve some of the dumb questions that I have.

I read all the responses and you guy's are so smart in the Lord and all makes me so glad I am part of this site.

The Bible teaches to pray without ceasing and that

^ Yeah, that's what I've read, heard about, or have been taught to do as well: that we should pray each morning and have that personal time with God/Jesus before we start the day. Sadly though, I do not do that on my own really. I prefer to sleep in as late as possible, lol, but it would be really great to be able to do that too.

But I also agree with the way you put it about praying to the Saints, I don't like it, but wouldn't fight over it because I know that opinion on that is denominational, but I agree that praying to them should be something akin to idolatry. I think it's horrible, quite frankly, because it's kind of like worship of the dead, right? to respect the dead, sure, honor them but don't replace Jesus with them. I don't see how we need even dead Christians to intercede on our behalf when it comes to talking to God, that's exactly why Jesus died for us. Isn't He the One referred to as High Priest? He's all we need. It makes sense that we can talk directly to Jesus and God and the Holy Spirit through prayer, but it doesn't make sense to think that we could reach anyone else in heaven through our prayers. Not meaning to be offensive, I just think it's better if one leaves it at Jesus or God or the Holy Spirit as One we should pray to.

Those who became the children of God through the Lord Jesus Christ, should pray to the Father in the name of the Lord Jesus, because He said that whatever they ask in His Name the Father will do it.

Those who were not reconciled with God through Christ, can have only one prayer that the Father will hear and answer; when they ask God to save them. Then He would show them through His Word why Christ came, and how He can save us. After one is saved, he can go to the Father by prayer, but only in Christ's name.

Sin separated us from God, so that we have no right to ask the Father anything else before reconciliation would take place.

Since it is written that the Lord Jesus is the only Mediator between God and man, to pray to anybody else is plain blasphemy. Besides, where is it written in the Bible that those who died are omniscient and omnipresent and that they can hear our prayers? Nowhere, --- the idea is plain superstition, --it has no biblical support.

Christ is the only Way to God.

lol wether I pray to God Jesus, or the Holy Spirit, I'm praying to all of them cause they are God, and they make up 1 God, I always close in prayer in Jesus name, cause it's in Jesus I am saved and free from sins.

No, honestly the saints* I don't pray to cause they are not God, they have no power in my prayers, why would I pray to the saints? The bible says pray for the saints, not to them, Jesus is the only one who I pray to.

I pray to God all day long

We are called to pray without ceasing, and it is so easy to talk to God, He doesn't need any fancy words, just be yourself. :o Even though God knows whats on our hearts, He still loves us pouring out our heart to Him.

When we pray like this, our eyes remain on HIM and we draw so close to God, it is the most wonderful feeling as He draws close to us.

No I don't pray to Saints, who are they anyway??? :noidea:

Great question. You should pray to those in heaven, who are part of the Body of Christ, who can help you in your struggles, or for whatever reason. Saints do not have the power to grant your prayers by themselves, only God can grant our prayers, but the Bible tells us to pray for each other. If you were to ask me to pray for you, I would. I wouldn't say, no, dont ask me to pray for you, just pray directly to God. Of course I wouldn't, I dont think any Christian would. It is a good thing to ask people to pray for you. That's why we should ask the Saints to pray for us. They bring our prayers to God. It's really about a great community.

This can be seen, for example, in Revelation 5:8, where John depicts the saints in heaven offering our prayers to God under the form of "golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints." But if the saints in heaven are offering our prayers to God, then they must be aware of our prayers. They are aware of our petitions and present them to God by interceding for us.

So pray to Jesus Christ, pray to God, and pray to the Holy Spirit, but it's also a great idea to ask others who make up the Body of Christ, including friends on Earth and Saints in Heaven to pray for you as well.

Not once. Not once does the Bible ever say that we should pray to any dead person, or request to any dead person to pray on behalf of us. As a member of the Body of Christ I have direct access to the throne of grace through the blood of Jesus, by which I may enter boldly.

The prayers of the saints are my prayers!

I have a formatted prayer that I pray. Most people would say that's not a good thing, but I've never had prayer experiences as wonderful as when I pray like this. It's not a repititious type prayer. Rather, it's kind of like, I thank God for all my blessings, thank Jesus for what He did for me on the Cross, etc....So it allows for much variation, depending on what's going on in my life. Prayers for myself come second to last, so obviously prayers for others are before. I really have to pick and choose in this area, because I could sit and pray for others for hours. I usually pray for some set people like my family and leaders at church, but then I pray for whoever God's put on my heart after that.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
