As God knew me since before the creation of the world, it doesn't mean my soul was in existence. He created me at the appointed time.

The point is in order for God to know Jeremiah before he was formed in the womb, means he had a soul before he was formed. His soul came first before he was formed. The instant sperm and egg meet and come to life, there is already a soul that God knows. Sperm and egg become a living being as soon as they meet.

Well I guess it could mean that, or it could mean that God is all knowing, he knows all that is seen and unseen, and he knows all that has ever happened or will happen. Thus God does not need to create your soul prior to conception for God to already know everything about you. Every event that will ever happen in the universe was known to God before he created anything.

In fact, pre-existence is a false doctrine promoted by the Mormons and some sects of Islam.

This is why I like a Bible with theological footnotes throughout it.

But this to me also tells me that each life is valued by God. Wether or not a bunch of cells has a soul, (which to be honest I am not 100% sure about)God created those cells and all life starts with those cells. If those cells are capable of growing and multiplying on their own in a petri dish and are cells that equal a human being some day, then who are WE to decide those 'cells' are not valuable? God is the creater of all life, and is the creater of those cells that will = a human being. They don't compare to cells such as some strain of bacteria cells are whatever, these cells are LIFE! Therefore they are extremely valuable and they count to God even though you may not think much of them. As I said, I believe life starts when sperm and egg meet, wether that be in a petri dish at a fertility clinic or within the mother's fallopian tube. But God does know our names well before we are even conceived. Therefore I believe he is familiar in a way with our souls before they even come into existence. He is all-knowing isn't he?

By the way, I never claimed pre-existence, as I said in an earlier post on this thread, I do not believe in reincarnation. The ED in formed to me strikes me as meaning actually formed , as in complete with a formed heart, lungs, etc.

I believe that our souls grow with in us from the time of conception. I also believe that Adam's spirit died when he transgressed, that's why we have to be born again of the spirit, but his soul, which was marred, because of sin, lived on and we are inherent of his soul. I believe our soul is renewed at the point of repentance and receiving of the holy spirit.

But I wouldn't debate because I don't know anyone that does really know. It is unproveable. Adam is the only ceated member of the human race. We are all born of the flesh and our sin tainted souls have been handed down through the generations.

Just another POV.

:D

I believe this too except I would say body, soul and spirit. The spirit being impoverished at birth until renewal through the Holy Spirit.

Creationism-moment of conception.

The problem with Creationisms ideal, is that IF God creates the soul and then puts into the baby at the moment of conception, then he has created a imperfect soul one that has sin nature. This is contrary to what the bible teaches. God is perfect therefore cannot create a imperfect soul.

If he did create a soul that is flawed with sin, then that means he has a sin nature.

When he created Adam he created a perfect man. Then he created eve.

God breathed a spirit/breath of life into Adam, he didn't do this with eve! So that means that when he made eve from adam the soul and the spirit were split off from Adam when he created Eve and a Unique individual was formed.

Then Eve sinned against Adam and Adam sinned against God. This started the imperfection. Since then man has transferred a sin nature on down, as well as man has only recieved a soul and not the spirit of God until he accepts christ.

There's probably an obviously answer but what is the basis for belief that the soul is eternal?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
