regarding meaning of "glory".......

The greek word simply means esteemed. Keeping the sixteenth century term "glory" for the translation is something I think of as an emotional error by the translators. It was more poetic than precise.

In my esteem the meaning was simply stating that the first human was born of God's high esteem. He was the crowning glory, the finishing touch, of all creation. In the same way creating the woman separate from the male, or as some like to think - creating gender last, was putting the finishing touch on the creation of the human race. Woman is the crowning glory of the creation of the human.

To think of it as anything more than that is to build extra bibilical theories and it destroys the beauty of the message.

G-d is referred to in masculine terms because it best describes His covenant relationship with His children. The issue has been beat to death here, and to me is a mute discussion because the words of the Bible cannot be brought into question.

Jehovah's (our Heavenly Father) matchless Holy Covenants do indeed center His children of faith. And whenever He appears in Holy Writ, it's always as in masculine terms & I.D. Sinful man always runs the risk of chasing a gender flip-flop; not so the Creator-God.

Why does it matter?

I am not trying to trivialize the question, but from a relationship standpoint to Christ, does pondering this question help our faith or simply cause disputes, or does it not really matter?

I do think we see a patriarchal structure proscribed in scripture for the church on this earth, but that is different than totally assigning God a particular human form and characteristic. If we are literally all one in Christ, male, female, etc, how can God be just one or the other?

God clearly identifies "Himself" with male pronouns, but the Church has always believed God is in reality BEYOND concepts of sex identification. It is solely for our convenience that He so identifies Himself.

I beleive that god is his own "gender". I don't beleive he is a male or a female. I beleive that us humans have male and female, but god is his own thing, different from humans.

A preacher on TBN told me this, and I beleive it.
