It's lots more fun if there's a real person there. I heard a tape where this guy asked the telephone solicitor: "May I ask, Tim, what is your connection with Mr. ******?"

He answered he was just a telephone salesperson, and the guy said: "Well, the reason I'm interested in your phone call, is because you have called the scene of a homicide investigation....uh, hang on a minute Tim? Hey! Get a sample of that brain tissue on the wall there before the coroner shows up, and be careful not to step in any of the evidence.... OK, Tim? Are you still there?"

And eventually got the guy convinced that he was going to have the local police department in his city pick him up as a 'person of interest' in the "homicide" in Cleveland! It was one of the funniest tapes I've ever heard, and so I use it now whenever they call.

It gets wonderful results!!!

kabawd, the issue is, they shouldn't be calling in the first place. it's illegal for them to solicit to numbers registered on the do not call list.

furthermore, if you don't listen to the recorded message, you won't know what button to push to make sure you're removed from their list, and the phone will ring regularly until you finally do.
