I love the fluidity and poetic structure of the kjv.

It takes time to get used to some of the language but it is so much more beautiful than the current translations.

For the KJV only people, why do you take this as the perfectly preserved translated bible, when even the translators of the KJV 1611av didnt believe that? And they stated so on the preface to the bible.

I don't know that the Apostle Paul realized the importance of his epistles when he wrote them, but they are accepted as the Word of God. I would say that the translators likewise didn't realize they were being used of God to give us a perfect English translation, but that was the final result nevertheless.

I would have to disagree and say that the KJV is not perfect. It does mistranslate some words. The KJV is the Bible I mostly use aside from the Recovery Version.

Lets test this.

In Genesis 1:1-2a It says " In the begining God created the heavens and the Earth, and the earth was (note that word) without form and void. Now upon careful consideration that makes no sense. How did God create the earth without form ( waste), and void (empty).

Isa 45:18 KJV testifies.. For thus saith the LORD that created the heaven; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, (vain is same word use in Genesis for without form) he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.

This would seem to be a contradiction in the word. But let us take a look at that word was. That word 'was' is translated become or come to pass. That same Hebrew word is also use in the case of Lots wife stating that she became a pillar of salt. I would say that that word was is rightly translate became in light of Isa 45:18.

In the beginingGod created the heaven and the earth and the earth became waste and empty.

The KJV is a wonderful version, but the english language is very poor. Let us thank God for concordances and and the many other tools at our disposal.

I am a believer in the pre-Adamite race theory. That states that God did not create the earth without form and void originally, but that was the end result of a judgment that came upon the world between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2. It is my opinion that there was a world filled with dinosaurs and what we now refer to as cavemen, and that they existed before the story of Adam and Eve but were destroyed. That cannot be proven conclusively, but it is my opinion. I don't believe this was a mistranslation.

Hey! I believe that, too!

I am a believer in the existence of the pre-Adamite World as well and Scripture plainly shows this to be true. Another thread has covered this.

Psalm 23....

Hey, that's on my signature!

It's something that God impressed upon my heart when I was first saved :24:

Stephen, I wasn't kidding when I said that has kept me sane, it really has. When my son was killed, I just kept repeating it over and over and over. I bet I said it a thousand times or more, Its what I held onto, and still hold onto!

:th_praying:

I know just what you mean, SP.

I have found it a comfort on far more than one occasion, to help me get through this life. Not only because they are comforting or inspiring words, in a human sense, but because they have proved true for me :emot-crying:

Btw, I didn't know about your son, and I'm very sorry about that.

I am so sorry about your son. :th_praying:

I lost my son too, and Psalm 23 was a great comfort to us as well.

Alright, I'm refraining to merely comment that I do not agree with the Gap Theory between Gen 1:1 and Gen 1:2 :)^_^

For the KJV only people, why do you take this as the perfectly preserved translated bible, when even the translators of the KJV 1611av didnt believe that? And they stated so on the preface to the bible.

I agree with what Butero said on this, but I still have one small issue... would anyone mind discussing Psalsm 12;6-7 in relationship to where God's preserved Word is? I understand that David said "thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee" but notice, David "hid" it in his heart, it wasn't already there. The thing is, we are not born knowing scripture. It is something that has be learned just like a parent has to teach a child "don't touch the stove, it's hot" or "it's wrong to steal". We have to learns and we aren't born knowing the bible in and out, so with that in mind, where is God's preserved Word at this point here on this earth?

Psa 12:6 The words of the LORD [are] pure words: [as] silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

Psa 12:7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
