axxman, why are the existing laws protecting the homosexual from discrimination not good enough? why is it necessary for them to create additional laws?

Are world is falling. I really don't think they should be hired in the first place. But that is not the issue i am concerned with. What i am concerned with is Government interfering with the Church. Separation of Church and state is what it is but for them to intefer and tell the Church what it can do is wrong.

Yeah I was kinda wondering that myself. Only thing I can think of is there must not be a EEO type of designation on it.

You know how ALL businesses have to have that EEO thing posted somewhere in the business (usually the lunchroom) so that everybody knows their rights? Well I haven't looked at one lately, but I am pretty sure that "sexual orientation" is not on it. SO I'm guessing that this bill will add that to it.

That would explain why places like churches and private schools and the military wouldn't have to participate. Thats the only explanation I have.

there are laws that prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation.

CAN YOU USE THE EEO COMPLAINT PROCESS TO CHALLENGE DISCRIMINATION BASED ON YOUR SEXUAL ORIENTATION?

While discrimination based on sexual orientation is not a violation of federal civil rights laws, such discrimination is not permitted under the Department of Commerce Diversity Policy and may be a prohibited personnel practice under the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978. The formal EEO complaint process is not available for allegations of discrimination based on sexual orientation. But, if you believe you have been discriminated against because of your sexual orientation or perceived sexual orientation, you may contact an EEO Counselor. The Counselor will try to resolve the situation informally. An EEO Counselor can also give you information about forums for raising a violation of the Civil Service Reform Act.

if they feel the EEO laws need to be ammended, then ammend them without writing entirely new laws that are already covered elsewhere. however, nonprofit faith based organizations need to ALWAYS be exempt from that clause, which is probably why it is not currently part of the EEO protections.

I have seen some of the buisnesses in my area that do include that it is wrong to discriminate against sexual orientation. But why is there another bill trying to become law? I have no idea. We don't need new laws, we need to enforce the laws that we already have.

It doesn't have anything to do with the church. Turns out it's a bad law anyway. We should have the right to hire and fire based on any reason we want. Period. If somebody wants to be a bigoted idiot and not hire, say, Koreans, for example, he should have that right.

Turning it now to homosexuals (which, as has been pointed out, is a choice), I should have the right, as a business owner (not that I am one, but if I was), to determine the criteria on which I will hire or fire somebody for myself. My ability to make this decision doesn't make it right, but it makes it mine.

Why should the government (which, let's face it, isn't exactly loaded with role models of ethics and morals) make a moral decision about my business?

the government is always stepping on the rights of business owners.

i am just wondering how we are supposed to minister to these people if we cant work/socialize with them? why are we trying to get rid of an opportunity to show the lost how the body of Christ works??? i would think working with someone a great opportunity to minister!

you know, i know a guy who got hired by the salvation army (they only hire Christians). he admitted to me a very big secret a few weeks ago ... he is not a Christian! you know what else he tells me? that most of the time they are good but sometimes the things that come out of their mouths! :whistling:

he is getting to see how the body of Christ really works. He tells me that he respects how they pray every so often and how they stand on their faith when things are tough.

like i said, we are forgetting to love. we just want whats comfortable for us.

It's not so much about that, though. If you as a Christian want to hire non-Christians -- or anyone at all, more power to you. My dad runs his shop as a Christian, and expects those he hires to respect that, but he's perfectly happy to hire nonChristians and witness to them as he can.

The point is, in this country, the government shouldn't dictate who we can hire and why.

ENDA would make it illegal to fire, refuse to hire or refuse to promote an employee based on his or her sexual orientation or "gender identity." Such acts would be considered crimes subject to severe penalties. For a list of the co-sponsors of ENDA, Click here .

And that's bad why exactly? You should never hire or fire someone based on their sexual orientation in the first place, that would be like firing someone for being a woman, or hiring someone for being a man.

why not. what has sexual orientation got to do with business? It doesn't even belong in the workplace. So why do they need a special protection.

I would fire them as well as any hetero that was practicing their sexual preference in my business in a heartbeat. their supposed to be there making me money not worrying about heir sex escapades.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
