By obeying my husband I am obeying God. I trust God 100%.

You must be very young.

A husband does not automatically become the same as God. He is still human. He will make mistakes. He will mislead you. If he does and you obey him then you, not he, is responsible for what you do that is wrong. You are ultimately responsible for your actions whether good or bad. Your husband is responsible for his actions whether right or wrong; he is not responsible for your actions.

There is an OT verse somewhere that says we are not to trust the

Glad to hear that you are in a better relationship.

You see though you just revealed where the seat of the will and mind is. It's in the heart not the head. :)

Huh????? I did not trust this decision based on what is in my heart, I trusted God. God is the ultimate authority. You feminists make no sense! :whistling:

We could begin with this verse.

Matthew 15:18 But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these things defile a person. 15:19 For out of the heart come evil ideas, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 15:20 These are the things that defile a person; it is not eating with unwashed hands that defiles a person.

Ephesians 5:21 "Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God." That is exactly what it says and what it means, within the chain of authority God set up. It cannot mean that everyone is of equal authority or there would be chaos. Imagine the Pastor for instance deciding he wanted to begin an evangelistic outreach, and as the authority in the church began to assign jobs, along with job descriptions. Then you had a layman in the church tell the pastor that he didn't agree with the ministry, and wanted the pastor to submit to his will and scrap it and do a completely differen't type of outreach. If this means we are literally equal and submitting to each other on an equal basis, each person would be eqully right in expecting submission. Obviously, that is not the case.

But there is no mention of any chain of authority in the whole of Ephe. 5. What you are doing is eisigesis. You are reading into Scripture something not inherent in the passages you are reading. Start at verse 1 and read through verse 21. Do you see anything about chain of authority, chain of command, etc. NO! You don't.

The only reason that you add that in is because you cannot conceive of any other kind of relationship involving submission. You are just the type of man that Paul was trying to reveal a more compassionate, attentive, supportive, and humble way of relating to others. Paul had a very difficult task set before him. In that era the average free man was so privileged that it was difficult for them to see outside of the box of preeminance of self.

"Power always thinks it has a great soul and vast views beyond the comprehension of the weak; and that it is doing God's service when it is violating all His laws." --John Adams

You know the term 'selective hearing'? It makes me think of certain people on this thread who are very blatantly ignoring so much scripture that is so clear a kindergartener could understand it. They try so hard to find something they can twist, and then they run with it, leaving the rest behind.

I agree with you Emily. Most people have some form of selective hearing.

We attach meanings to words based on our experiences. This is why the word game is so revealing, where one person says a word and the other says the next word that comes into their thinking. We also have certain cultural influences that we carry with us attached to certain words and concepts, that can be very difficult to change. And depending how and where we came to know Christ as our Lord and Savior most Christians have certain denominational religious errors that we may carry with us for the rest of our lives.

Real communication is not an easy task.

Shalom Martin,

I hope you did not mean this as condescending as it came across.

Age has nothing to do with trusting G-d!

I am not young in age nor in my walk with the L-rd and I agree with Emily Anne's post 100%.

We are to obey our husbands BECAUSE when we do we are obeying G-d. G-d's design is for wives to obey and submit to our husbands and we are to TRUST that G-d will lead our husbands. No, they are not G-d, but the Scriptures say they are accountable to Jesus, their Head. And we must trust that G-d will teach them and mature them and lead them to be the leaders He has called them to be.

We are not to look at our husbands' failings and justify our disobedience based on the fact they are not perfect. For by doing this, we are distrusting and disobeying G-d to be G-d in their lives.

G-d has ORDAINED the husband to be the authority over the wife and home. If we do not submit to that authority, we are being disobedient to G-d Himself.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
