Why isnt anyone telling me to just not do it?

Maybe because it's better for you to just do it :24: ..........it's a great confidence booster. If you're speaking about your Dad you just speak from your heart. Pray about this, Giaour; the Lord will tell you which way to go. I can SO identify with what you're feeling. In my case, if I wanted the promotion, I had to get over my aversion to speaking to groups. You might find that, by learning to speak before an audience, you are able to serve the Lord in a whole new way.

;) ok I too come from a church where women do not speak ...the only exception being when you give your testamony at your baptism...so

GIAOUR DO NOT DO IT you will not mind that you had the oportunity to maybe reach out to someone and touch them for the Lord....it wont matter to you that you are being disrespectful towards your dad, your pastor ( who has such faith in you and believes that what you have to say will be of help to others ) and who was the other person you are being disrespectful towards :taped: ...oh yes GOD :taped:

have you read about Jonah ????????

Moses begged God not to use him too ....cant understand that ...I mean like you they were being asked to speak up in front of friends and family that love them ...well they were werent they ??????

Now do you feel better that someone has told you what you wanted to hear :24::)

Love you sis and will be praying for you when YOU SPEAK UP IN PRAISE OF GOD :noidea::o:o

Your relationship with your dad must be very special for someone to have noticed and wants you t speak of it. And it's what? Father's Day? :o Will he be there?

What a gift to give him!

Sis, we all have fears. I'm right there with you on speaking in public. There's something I've been contemplating as well, becasue I'm so throw-down shy. But it boils down to the end result, ya know? Like, in your case, after it's all said and done, what will be the result? Will you feel good about it? Will your family?

Think of picking someone out in the crowd - a family member - and talk to them. Stare at them the whole time, since this is your first time. Someone that you're comfortable with. If you can do this, and get through it, you're fear will take a step backwards. It may not completly diminish, but it will retreat a bit.

If it's a serious phobia, and it's totally impossible, then talk to your pastor. Perhaps it's something that could be written down and read by another? However, coming from you would make all the difference in the world. :o

Pray about it. :noidea:

Well, I can't say I have had that feeling, but my pastor has and now he is great at it...many people have over come the fear of talking to people. Now I actually love talking in front of people. Maybe it would be different if I had to teach or preach...but I will be praying for you. This first time will be the hardest...after that it all gets easier...

Sister,

I can relate to you, I struggle almost everytime I stand before people to speak.

Problem with that is being a Pastor, Teacher and being nervous they don't work very well together.

As a few others have already said remember first who you are speaking about, Speak from the heart, if He is there focus on Him and think about Him blocking everyone else out, and understand this most of all.

Don't worry about what you say or even how it comes out because if it is from the heart, it will be just fine.

The subject of Love and how much you love someone should not be hard to express but sometimes it can be.

Besides as someone has already said here on these boards, you don't seem to have any trouble expressing yourself.

Remember if your Dad is there focus on Him if not pick someone who wants to see you overcome your fears and focus on them.

One other thing I might add, My Dad died 7 years ago and oh how I wish I had an opportunity to speak to Him, I miss Him greatly, Sister this is an wonderful opportunity that you must not let pass by.

If you do there may be a day when you will regret that you did.

Praying for You

Dug

Hello,

I find that love takes care of the whole bundle. If I remember to look out at my audience and look at particular persons and love them and smile at them. Then from on it is just a sharing of what is to be said.

And although you really could just say "no" and no one be hurt by it and you be more comfortable, it truly is not a good thing to be ruled by fear. And certainly you do not want your fear to rule you to such an extent that you just do not show up.

Bless you. We all have a fear somewhere that we have to deal with. You are not alone.

Just Awesome and your Dad will be proud of you!

If you get nervous, remember what you wrote: He was always so proud of me and would make a big deal over every accomplishment no matter how small it was. He taught me to have confidence in my abilities and the belief that I can do anything that I set my mind to.

Because you can and trust me some day when your Dad is gone and your having a bad day full of regrets you will remember this and be blessed.

Dug

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
