Can your pastor come and just 'bless' your room?

I don't understand, what's this about?

And why would it need to be a pastor, don't all Christians pray?

Kinda reminds me of a few months ago, when the Pope "elevated" one of the California missions from a "cathedral" to a "basilica". And all those statues they have, that supposedly possess spiritual power. Sounds like a bunch of hocus-pocus to me.

I have also heard of a story regarding occultic type trinkets. Once they were gone, the sleep terrors disappeared.

In addition to all that was said, how about sleeping with your Bible?

Does a Bible (a physical object) have spiritual power? If so, then how is that any better or different than any other "trinket"?

No, it does not. However the knowledge within it can put you into contact with the maker of this world which does.

Dear Hippo,

I know exactly what you're going through. Briefly, I've had demonic dreams most of my life as a result of being a practicing witch and dabbling in Satanism. Since I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord the dreams are fewer. So this is what I wanted to say....

When you have these dreams, if you're able to speak, shout His praises. Worship Him out loud. The last time this happened to me was a few months ago - there was a black cat walking the length of my bed but was not on the bed - it was right above it and I got that eerie feeling. I started saying to myself 'praise the Lord, King of Kings, Lord of Lords etc. and nothing happened. Then I said it out loud and I woke up briefly, thanked Him and went to sleep soundly. That realization of saying His name and worshipping Him out loud gave me a better understanding of 'there's power in His name'. I found that there truly IS power in His name. Demons will flee. Give it a try.

If you cannot speak while dreaming/sleeping, then please pray before you go to sleep.

I mostly always pray before I go to bed. Thank you all for your posts, and your prayers. I haven't had an attack in a while praise God.

I do however still struggle with fear. I sing praise songs, and quote verses. And I know there is no one ot fear but God. Do any of you experience grippling fear??

Dear Hippo. You will be in my prayers for I know the fear that can come with this type of thing. Some things you might want to look for are any book on horoscope, any type of dreamcatcher ...stones such as quartz etc. There are many things we don't view as being 'occultic' but in essence are. I was involved in paganism and kaos magic and all things dark at one time. When I got saved my pastor and another lady came in and annointed my house with oil, prayed throughout each room, and we got rid of 5 or so big 30 gal trashbags full of tools and stones and books and things. Our God does not give us a spirit of fear, for perfect love casts out fear, so try to just rest in His Love and protection when these things happen to you. I, from time to time wake up frozen to my bed with only my eyes being able to move. If nothing else just say the Name of Jesus, it causes them to tremble for they know the awesome Power of Our Lord! GLORY!

May the Peace that passes all understanding be yours.

The Bible itself has no power, but the Words within it sure do. Mayve sleeping with it would allow closer access to it, so that when an attack occurs I can just flip it open and read it, it can also be a conscience thing.....you know like when you are trying to memorize something, and you put it junder your pillow, and it seems to stick more.

Well, yes, any and all can pray. But not many Christians (at least where I am at) are familiar with the ways of Satan, how to deal with Him, and whatnot. THe Pastor, (or anyone) would bind up the spirits, annoint the house, plead the Blood of Christ over it, for protection as well as to loose anything bound to the house. And we all have that power, but sometimes, especially if you are under heavy spiritual warfare do not have the strength to pray and to kick out the spirts in the name of Jesus.

What is a bunch of hocus pocus??

It is strange and it varies from time to time. It starts with a paralyzing fear, and I know that it isn't of the Lord (for fear is not of the Lord but of Satan). Sometimes I am wide awake and sometimes I am dead asleep. I try reciting Scripture, my mind goes blank, and I can't even speak. I see dark hovering shadows sometimes dark figures. It's really hard to explain without you thinking I am insane or making it up, but I'm not. In the dreams, they are worse, than when I am awake. I hear voices, and they are really oppressive type spirits. I wake up gasping for air sometimes, because I can't breathe. I don't know if this makes sense, but I am trying. They are different each time, and sometimes they are almost like premonition type things, because a couple of weeks later, that scenario happens...other times, I get just pralyzed with fear. I'm sorry if this isn't making sense...

I know that spirit. Met it in Tunisia once. You mustn't fear it. The only power it has over you is fear it uses that to make you fear more. Laugh at it. Know you're safe in light and ignore it when it offers you the world on a plate and whispers fulfillment of your desires.

It can't hurt you it isn't allowed to unless you let it in. It will go away when it see's you aren't having any of it.

I think it's silly to believe that holding a physical object can really bring spiritual protection. Whether it's a Bible, a rabbit's foot, or a statue of Buddha. It's no better just because it's a "Christian" obhect.

Reading a Bible, educating yourself in the ways of the Lord, is something different entirely.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
