interestingly enough, the film indicated a very obvious (to me) denial that mary, mother of Christ, was to be worshipped or elevated to a level of diety. i find this interesting because of the Catholic perspective, and because mel gibson is catholic. how did it do this? in His response to mary from the cross. "Woman, behold, your Son" (note the capitalized Son).... "Son, behold, your mother" (note the lowercase spelling of mother). when those words came across the screen, it stood out like a beacon. if the film had been in english, without subtitles, that distinction would not have come across.

1) Mel Gibson is NOT a catholic, he's a lefebvrist and, therefore, a heretic.

2) Mary a "deity"?

Mary worshipped?

I've defeated that nonsense so many times since I came here that there's really no need to seriously debate it anymore :help:

Does the movie appear to link Jesus' suffering to HIS MOTHER in a way that portrays her as being a co-sufferer with HIM? Does it appear that HE is drawing STRENGTH from HER by eye contact at crucial times during the movie? Does she cry out at the end of the crucifixion, "Flesh of my flesh, bone of my bone, I want to die with you"?

I just thought of this picture with this question.

(I'd past it directly on here, but since the picture is copyrighted, I don't know if that would be legal. But please check it out!)

:help:

lefebvrist - does that mean he is opposed to the ecumenism of the Pope?

"Flesh of my flesh, bone of my bone, I want to die with you"?

What I thought of in regards to that statement was about Adam and Eve.

Gen 2:23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh:

Then when he later ate the fruit from her hand, he could have been saying in a sense, "I want to die with you".

I had never heard of Longinus either until recently. I had only seen brief references to the spear in different articles. There happen to be three possible locations where it is said to be kept to this day. I certainly don

How did she get the name "Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face"?

Following the biblical tradition, when people entered religious life, they took a new name to signify their new call from God. When she entered the Carmelite Monastery to give her life to God, Marie Francoise Therese Martin took the religious name "Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face." Therese had great devotion to the Infant Jesus, and her spirituality was a childlike simplicity and trust in God's love. In Lisieux, the Carmelite Monastery had a great devotion to the suffering Holy Face of Jesus that was reflected on the veil of Veronica. This included an outdoor shrine in the cloister garden. Because Therese was constantly looking to see the hidden Holy Face of Jesus in everyone and everything, Therese took that second part of her religious name. She explained: "I desire that, like the Face of Jesus, my face be truly hidden that no one on earth would know me. I thirsted after suffering and I longed to be forgotten." Her religious name, Sr. Therese of the Child Jesus and Holy Face, therefore came to signify what she was about and how God's grace was working in her.

I just watched an official review by 3 leading columnists on the History Channel.

They showed snipits of the movie and gave commentary and interpretation. Two of the "reviewers" claimed to be Christians. One of them most clearly wasn't a believer..but a phoney, (he didn't believe in the bible..that told me all I needed to know about him).

Then Joel Siegel, a professing Jew, was astounded with them . He marveled at their reviews, which were "mixed"...they liked the use of Aramaic and Latin in the movie...thought it added to the movie but didn't like the bible being taken so literally. (Go figure).

The Jewish reviewer, on the other hand, said, "You guys are supposed to be Christians and you say these things?!" He was absolutely blown away that anyone who claimed to be a believer would make some of the remarks they did.

The movie made a very powerful impression on this Jewish reviewer, almost as if he'd gone away from the film wondering, "Maybe he is the Messiah...just maybe.."

I sensed him actually wondering..."Could it be?"

Mel Gibson said in an interview that this book was part of his inspiration to write the script for the movie.

See page 100 and compare it to the above quote from the Satan figure in the garden:

But Satan, who was enthroned amid all these horrors, and even filled with diabolical joy at the sight of them, let loose his fury against Jesus, and displayed before the eyes of his soul increasingly awful visions, at the same time addressing his adorable humanity in words such as these:

The more controversy I hear, the more I want to see it...so to decide for myself. So, I guess that settles it...I'll go.

You have totally understood the doctrine of grace wrong and that

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
