Speaking into someone's life

I've heard the expression many times "Just speak into their life......"

What does it mean to you and how, practically do you do it?

I could be mistaken, but I think "speaking into someone's life" means to encourage somebody (usually verbally, of course) in a heartfelt, meaningful manner, sometimes (if not most of the time) with scripture.

what works for me is this when speaking into someones life i find by being my self helps by getting to know them also helps and finding out what they like this could be anything and when you pin point what hobbies they like doing you can bring in gods word and share how he changed your life

i see it like this we are an open book to those around us and we can be the only christian they ever know as most will not step foot into a church

don't be scared to be your self as its point less trying to be some one you are not or try to imitate those more wise and mature go by the holy spirit leading and pray quietly and ask the holy spirit to lead you and give you words to say

i always do this and its such a joy bringing someone to the lord

this is one way of doing this

as a mentor when i am given a young troubled youth to work with i go by these steps

one its a two way relationship not a one way relationship

am i willing to learn from this young person and am i willing to see things there way and learn to listen and hear what they have had to struggle with and there life story

as i am guiding the young person who is in my care i work on trust and i also want to learn from them

so this is how i see what speaking into some ones life means for me

Its a religious psuedo-babble word for "encouragement", but it usually amounts to someone who has no clue what they're talking about giving you advice you didn't ask for.

You make it sound like saying "bless you" after a complete stranger standing next to you sneezes.

Honey, encouragement is so very different than "speaking into someone's life".

I have never before encountered it until only recently and I can tell you that the word encouragement does not clearly portray what it is like to have someone really know you, I mean really know you, not just a casual aquaintance, someone who can tell there is a difference in your attitude through an email. . . REALLY know you. And that person speaks to your heart from their heart. They are not afraid to get to the "heart" of the matter with you and really draw you out of your shell to help you become the Christian you were meant to be. THAT is what "speaking into someone's life" means.

with emphasis on the words 'their life' - the difference between empathy and sympathy.

for me, if i cannot identify with their situation, i should use few words maybe just a hug or a smile or as the bible says 'speaking with a psalm, a hymn, etc., but if i can identify, it is my duty to share and lift up, letting my brother or sister know they are not alone.

I don't know about "speaking into their life", but I am presently reading a Beth Moore book entitled "Praying God's Word". The book teaches you to connect scripture with prayer. It's very powerful!
