This is about what scripture teaches and Alice is not advocating the truth. The friends of Job spoke with empty words, and the Bible records these statements...the statements are not true, but the Bible records truly what was said.

Sorry, but I fail to see the point here. Where has he come out in favor of something anti-Christian? I have on an old LP album Roy Acuff doing a song entitled "A Sinner's Death" in which he portrayed the part of a person dying apart from God and the horrors faced by this character-was he promoting we all die sinners apart from God? Will you criticize him as well and say he was promoting sin? Come on now-use a little bit of common sense. Not trying to be mean, but JMHO.

The message of Alice "promoting this" comes from his use of "I"  "I wanna be God" "I operate on hate" "I am not a Christian"

I still think you are misinterpreting his message.

Try going back and reading these songs - what is he saying about a person with the attitudes he is presenting in the song?

I don't see him glorifying this attitude, but showing how rotten such an attitude is.

Look, I can appreciate your convictions about bodly proclaiming Christ. Yes, I would like to see that, too. However, I've interacted with many a non-Christian, and I can tell you that in-your-face Gospel messages just turn people off! The only ones the in-your-face Gospel does not turn off are those who are actively seeking (and even they have their limits in this). So, how do you make someone a seeker? Wouldn't you make them question? And how do you make them question? Why not give them a message they will agree with, but put some twists to it that present what they believe as not-so-great?

Also keep in mind that no one is perfect. Whether he is living a life that is pleasing unto the Lord - is this my job to decide? Hey, if you can find the words of people who actually know him personally and say they don't believe he's a Christian you may have more of a case.

But actually, I had heard that Cooper spent time palying gold with R C Sproul!

Imagine someone questioning your Christianity because of your choice for a username. Hey, I know lots of Christians who take the verses about having no fellowship with darkness to include fantasy novels - and I've known Christians to include Lord of the Rings in that mix. Look at the culture that the Lord of the Rings series created. Goodness, even witches and neo-pagans love the series and haven't got a clue of the Gospel message.

So, why not attack J.R.R. Tolkein's Christianity for creating the fantasy culture?

I have held off on this thread a bit too long. He is from my home town. He has plenty of fruits of the Spirit out here. He even does charity golf events (for the person who thinks he hates golf). Moreover, he is a dj on a local station. He talks about news items about God. According to my husband, the talk is always reverent, not demeaning. I dont know for sure if he is saved, but I beleive there is a good chance that he is.

I know there are still plenty of things in my life the Lord is working out in me, it is likely there are somethings the Lord is working out in him too. None of us are squeaky clean.

I'm always disappointed with the cultural brand of christianity which says we all have to look a certain way, speak in christianese, and dress in our Sunday best to be "included"

Yeshua's congregation was a bunch of tax-collectors and reformed prostitutes. I bet they wouldn't get a very good reception in American churches, eh?

Yet they turned the world on it's ear.
