Backontrack, I graduated from High School in 1970. When I was in 8th grade we practice Christmas carols for weeks, then during school hours we walked around town Christmas caroling! I remember prayer in school. I am not saying that we should not fight to clean up the schools, but I really don't see how sending a child to public school is going to help. Jesus had many followers, but He never sent the children to evangelize the Pharisees!

Do you have any suggestions as to what we should do to take the schools back? I do see taking my daughter out of school as a mild statement, but that really was more because I loved her and am accountable to God. I also contact my senator, representative, and anyone else I can. In California they just made it illegal to say mother and father in school. Would my leaving my daughter in school have prevented that? I am thankful that there are Christian teachers who are teaching in the schools, and I really think that they are needed. But shouldn't they be doing the fighting rather than the children? It is a delimma, but if I had to do it again I would never have even put Mandy in kindergarten.

1971 me!

No you are right taking her out, I took my 9 year old out and put him in a private school, Lutheran even though I do not believe everything in their religion. We must remember as I stated many times most do not have this advantageous option and it is these I worry about. We have became so complacent about our Christian values in our world that we no longer fight for them. Could you imagine going back to the birth of this nation and retracting all mention of God out of the Constitution? Basically that has and is happening in our country and our schools right now and they are being attacked big time by the minority. Why do we just sit by and do nothing, as we are the majority right! This is our future generation in these public schools who will one day run this country. Is this important you bet and we must either fight for equal rights or let these kids rule over our home schooled kids and us because they are and will be the next majority. It is very scary because what we do now will protect our kids later. What are you or what would you do to protect you child right now? I bet almost anything! What about the future? Often times we forget about that. :noidea:

I don't understand any of what's going on in this whole nation. Yes, Christians are in the majority, so why are we allowing our rights to be taken away? There is a bill being introduced to the House of Representatives tomorrow H.R. 3685 (ENDA) which, if passed, will force private business owners, churches, Christian radio stations, etc to hire homosexuals (and any other type of sexual wierdness). So public school is just one major area where we are dropping the ball. Some of the problem, in my opinion, is that Christians understand that Christ taught us to love one another and to not be judgmental. But we forget that Christ was not tolerant. He loved the sinner but not the sin. We, too, need to love the sinner, but be vocal - with love - about our government.

I know this is a tough problem for many parents, but sometimes I think that if every Christian pulled their child out of school, it probably would be just a very short time before some major reform took place.

Why is the Christian majority letting our rights be taken away? Up here in Canada I don't believe we have a Christian majority. Sure, something like 85-90% of the population calls themselves Christians, but I'd be amazed if 10% practiced the faith or attended the church regularly.

In my religion class every student but one identified themselves as Christian (a class of about 30) and yet today when we talked about marriage it was the teacher along with me and about 3 other students who opposed homosexuality. The majority follows a version of Christianity that resembles secular humanism with a nice little tamed god to make us feel better when we're upset.

Okay, when I was in grade 5 we had "sex education".

When I graduated, sex education was just being talked about. Personal Hygiene was taught in all girl and all boy classes. This was only 1971. It scares me to think what this world will be like if Jesus doesn't come back before you reach my age.

I had sex education, but it operated under the assumption that males would be having relations with females and their was a major emphasis on the dangers of sexual promiscuity. I don't even want to think about what sex-ed courses are talking about now.

Being only 16, I hate to ask, but have to ask, at what age and grade were you when you attended sex education???

I don't remember for sure, but I think it was as early as grade 4 and 5 when they taught us about male reproduction, and in grade 6 they explained the female role in it (very generally without details). In grade 7-9 we learned most of the details.

6th grade we learned about it, and then freshmen year in highschool we had a sex ed class. It mostly dealt with organs, and how the body works.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
