I call it turkey day....... just another day in my life that I am thankful for......

Shalom Mike,

The truth is, and what I'm trying to focus on is that the day is about More than just turkey.

It's about G-d.

So, why give a dead bird a place of honor that G-d alone deserves?

What's so fun about not giving honor to G-d for the day and for the blessings He gives us? I truly don't understand why anyone would choose to remove G-d from THANKSGIVING day and make it about a turkey. If every day is the same, then every day should honor G-d, not turkeys, right? That's what the Scriptures say.

Shalom Dear Friends,

Now, y'all might accuse me of picking at nits, but to be honest, it disturbs me to see this day of Thanksgiving being referred to as "Turkey Day." Oh my, what have we come to if this is how we see this day and all it stands for?

What can I say, I dislike turkey with a passion but the original charter from 1619 mught say it all - and I quote...........

"Wee ordaine that the day of our ships arrival at the place assigned for plantacon in the land of Virginia shall be yearly and perpetually keept holy as a day of thanksgiving to Almighty God."

People have reduced Thanksgiving Day to Turkey Day, and Christmas to Santa Claus Day(thats Bart Simpson for you, a popular cartoon character I might add).

It is sad to see things come to this, but this is what happens when people forget to keep God in the middle and pay more attention to the celebrations itself. Bart Simpson is right, we have turned Christmas into Santa Claus Day with all the commotion of presents, bills, shopping and overdecorating our houses. Sorry if I am being too blunt, but this trend can even be seen it the so called Christmas songs we(we as in We Average Americans)sometimes sing(song where Christ is

never mentioned in any way, but Santa Claus' ability to travel the world in one night is praised instead. Yet its still counts as Christmas song).

Clearly the holiday is all about giving thanks, but I think it sounds funnier to call it "Turkey Day"...so I do, sometimes.

By the way, Thanksgiving isn't explicit for Christians. It's an American holiday...my Jewish, Buddhist, atheist, Muslim, etc. friends all celebrate it, too. I noticed people equating it to "taking Christ from Christmas" and while I agree we should be careful always to treat the holiday as an opportunity to give thanks for all we have, everyone does that differently.

That's what the Scriptures say.

Good Day to you,

By the way, i do not read nor speak Hebrew.... i have a hard enough time with English... lol...

first off, I am not honoring a bird anymore then God..... I do not eat those things I honor.

what is the day really about? and which day do we honor more then other days? or should we honor the day at all?

I have fun with my wife, I enjoy life, I have learned that life is too short to be a stuck in the mud, I do Honor God, every day, one by giving thanks from the time i awake, til the time I lay my head down and my eyes go shut. I thank God for every bite of potato salad, macaroni salad, cole slaw that I place in my mouth, and even a bit of chicken salad....(three months ago, that is what we were eating at least twice a day, some days i was with out even cereal before going to work... if it was not for the fact the internet was paid for a full year last January, we would not have had internet since March)

I have been unemployed for 2 and half months this year, and when i could scrape even 50 bucks up, I was giving at least 5 in the plate and thankful for every penny.....

I worked a job, that I drove 40 miles to every morning and 40 miles back every evening, the job did not count overtime as overtime, and it was for 10 bucks an hour, did this for a month hand half, until the guy started cutting hours to 4 hours a day...... not even paying for the gas.... the last week i worked, i paid the electric and had not money left for gasoline, so i quit with no future job ahead.....

a month later, finally got hired on, with an initual offer of 15 an hour, and our pantry was almost empty, the freezer had a case of hot dogs (20 packs of 8 dogs) and the fridge has some dressings in it.... and maybe a gallon of milk..... I was thankful for the fore sight to have got the dogs when they were 47 cents a pack.....

after two weeks of watching the dogs disappear, and the shelves go even more bare, I pressed the company, every day for a start date and time...... calle them every day for two weeks......

then friday came, and they said be there monday at 8...... and then told me there was a mistake in the offer they gave me..... I was thinking so, let me work.... cant be that bad, even if they drop the offer to 9 an hour, i will be better off then driving 40 miles one way, cause here i can walk.... the lady said not, you do not understand, the reason for the delay was they were working on a better offer....

17.40 an hour..... my jaw dropped, and then my knees hit the floor, and I cryed and I gave thanks...

then for the next month, we ate mostly these salads, for it is a salad plant, and the over stock the employees are allowed to take..... every day, there was always a tub of salad..... one of the guys i work with, still laughs, asking if i have gotten tired of the salad yet....... Nope, not on your life, God is still providing..... and we were able to have a turkey this week, at under 50 cents a pound, a wonderful turkey... and I am thankful for every bite....... we will be eating it for at least a week....... we had it twice today......

you see, I have more to be thankful for then a lot of people think.... i have a roof over my head, our children are healthy and safe, our grandson knows Jesus heals..... and has even seen Jesus.....

we have heat, yet have only used the furnace twice a day for about 4 days now, and right now, it is turned off and it is 34 deg out side, expected to drop to mid 20's, this morning it was 22 when we got up and the furnace was still off, it was 65 in the house....

I thank God I can laugh, I can sing, I can dance, i can cry, jump scream, yell and well, you name it....

I thank God I can no longer crawl under a house, or dig a ditch or even operate a sewer machine (which was my lively hood up until this past april, when physically i could no longer do it, and being self employed, un able to afford any medical insurance, which we managed to get the bills from January paid off, and with Teresa on a medical leave of absense, with a back injury from work and workmans comp not covering it, ( medical or any pay ) we are doing wonderful.... and we are finding out how much God really does love us..........

God has allowed us to continue working in a ministry He set up for us, and well, I Love Hime more and more every day...... and we are just thanking Him that we have each other.......

this past week, God has lead us to a place, where we will be expanding our territory exceedingly, with very little budget..... He is an Awesome God......

which day is this???????

I know one thing for sure.......

NEITHER ONE OF US GOT UP AT 4 OR 5 THIS MORNING TO GO STAND IN LINE TO SEE WHO GETS THE FIRST BLOODY NOSE TRYING TO BUY ONE OF THOSE CHEAP PIECES OF PLASITC AND SILICONE, THAT PEOPLE CALL ENTERTAINMENT........

did you know that entertainment is satans cheap imitation of joy?????? and it can cost a person everything.......

anyways......

one day is no different then any other.....

and if I call it Michaelmas day, or any other name, it is still just a day.... not exalting it over God, just calling it a day by a name......

I am not calling it Turkey day to offend anyone.... and if you are, i am sorry,

good day

Thanksgiving for us a kid growing up always meant family and taking time to realize just how blessed we were. Now all my family is gone and my husband is sick with cancer. I'm having a hard time doing anything . But you are right the holidays should and need to be brought back to what the real meaning is.

Shalom Rustyangel,

I am so sorry that your husband is fighting cancer. I pray that the L-rd's grace and healing will surround him and also that G-d will give you peace.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
