Does anyone besides me get tired of hearing that same old dried up prosperity teaching that seems to dominate the

television ministries these days? Don't get me wrong, I love those who are teaching and preaching, and God forbid that

I judge anyone for I too could fall into the same temptation. But today I just had my fill so I began to study the poor,as

written in the Word.

No where have I read how Jesus told the rich man to sell all he had and give to the poor and you will

be even more rich! No...Jesus told him to take up his cross because that rich young ruler had set his heart on his finances

rather than on the Lord and the things of God. Is todays prosperity teachings causing much of the church to set its heart

on finances? I believe it is. The poor in the church are actually being chastened for being poor!

But the Bible says...

Romans 15:26

For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem.

And look at what Paul said here in 2Corinthians 6:10 "But in all things we commend ourselves as ministers of God: in much patience, in tribulations, in needs in distresses...

as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; AS POOR, yet making many rich (not financially!)

When I look at the saints at the time of Christ and how they suffered, how they gave up everything to follow Jesus, not

expecting to gain bigger houses or fat bank accounts, but to reach a lost world for Christ.

Where is the priority message of salvation on our televisions?

It was always my belief that the Lord gave us t.v ministries to reach lost souls! How can that lost, lonely

person in a motel room late at night relate to someone preaching the message of sowing and reaping? (as taught today on nothing but finances most of the time)

How can that lost soul that has no home and is living out of a suicase in his

car be ministered to if all he hears is send me this and you will get that?!

People are dying all around us. Jesus is the answer! Yet no one even has the courage to put a bumper sticker on their car

anymore that has John 3:16 on is because after all, they might have to let their light shine, too!

And here is what truly got me today when I heard some saint make a statement like we are God's children so we

shouldn't be poor...we should be decked out in the best of the best...we shouldn't have to even look at a price tag..............and ofcourse lets don't forget the Lord had laid up the wealth of the wicked for us...

yes that is true...now look at Jesus...He is right now preparing a mansion

in glory for us...the things of this world will all pass away...but the wealth that is laid up in heaven will be eternal.

James 2:5-6

***"Listen my beloved brethren, has not God chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of

the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him? But you have dishonored the poor man..."***

It all boils down to this sowing and reaping principle: If you sow to the flesh you will reap corruption;

but it if you sow to the Spirit, you will reap life everlasting.

Love people! Let them know their is a heaven to gain and a hell to shun! Jesus showed us how to live and told us how to live and even sent us His Spirit to give us the power to live it! I pray if anyone reading this is bound up by this worlds stuff and the desire to get, get, get...that the Lord would set you free and make you a true blessing to that lost soul that needs to hear an un-watered down gospel.

I am so thankful the Lord has blessed me so that can I give when I see a need. But my motive has to be one of love. ...there was a time in my life that all I had to give was "the poor widows mite". You have no idea of the sacrifice it took to give out of my need when I had hungry babies to feed...but the love of the Lord and a willing heart turned that sacrifice into praise as I took joy in giving...and my babies never went without...even if it wasn't the most expensive on the market.

I love giving to the Lord! I know He will take care of me because He said if I seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, He will supply all my needs. I don't have to sow finances to get finances. I do have to sow to the Spirit to have life... And sometimes the Father just delites in giving me something special that I just wanted cause I wanted it :-)

I agree; I'm totally fed up with the 'the more you give the more you will get' nonsense. I see this all the time on the 700 Club (not that they are the only ones) where people make their testimonials about how they gave money they couldn't spare to the 700 Club and they were blessed with financial windfalls. It's just not the way it should be, IMO. The Lord's gift to us is free.

I am with you Sister. When I read about the ministry of Jesus, he always was with the poor, the needy and the sick. If you read about the sheep and the goats, they were all poor.

Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.

i was going threw the topics and i came across your topic you need to also understand that if god wants to bless a person he wil as he does care also for us and i can share openly wear he has done this many times in my life i am of the streets i have no family and if i was to follow what it said in this gospel i needed also to belive what it said in this gospel other wise i would not be hear sharing what christ has been doing in my life

yesterday i got placed in a goverment job as i have been cleaning ful time its as if it was gods timming teling me to close one page and open up another page i have no skils but a lot of life experiance i got a ph cal from the main boss asking me if i was intrested working full time before my citazen ship is aproved to live in the philippines i am a case manager and i deal with foster kids kids whoes parents no longer want them they knocked sevral people and decied to give this position to me as i did two week course with life with out barriers my skils are with troubled youth but i stuck to cleaning goverment buildings and have done a lot of voluntry work with in this comunity as i work with troubled aborigonal youth

what ever i have jesus saves is of god my home was a run down motel today i have a roof over my head clean clothes a bed with linnen a washing machaine tv and my own computer which was given to me i never asked to have this yet gods hands have been on me ever since i came out of jail at the age of 18

you said you are tired of this prosperity teaching i can say that a lot of people are tired of this as wel but look at king david a shepherds boy who was looking after his fathers sheep and to be placed in a mansion with many concubines and the leader of gods army god had his hands on king david ever since he was young

joseph sold to slave traders by his brothers who threw him in a wel right threw out the bible their are storys wear god has blessed his people we just need to also be open to this and stop being so negative

he also prottects us threw our storms in life on the weekend i nearly lost my wife to be her and her team wear coming back from a staff meeting from anther island in the philippines they wear in a little ship 5 hr trip back to the main land at one stage they wear getting ready to go home to god as this last big wave that hit threw the supper cyclones that are going threw the philippines know the staff and the non belivers thought at one stage it was over yet my partner her pastors under her sat and prayed threw out the ordeal as she was asking jesus to give me a dream teling me she is safe and that she loves me i was up saturday praying and standing in the gap for her and i got back from prayer meeting last night and i read the email she sent me before the power went out again and today over a million people in the philippines are with out power and three more strong cyclones are due to hit

i have a lot to be thank ful for even when others seem to cause doubt or plant seeds of doubt

so when i came across your topic and read what you have said i thought i would add

we are a blessing to those around us and every time god bless me like this i give to those who i know who are in need and often he has given things back to me

this job pays wel and when i move to wear i am going to be living i have work right up until my citazen ship is aproved to live in the philippines and the money i have is of god as wel for my visa and citazen ship as wel and enough money for me to survive on

when my partner puts all her monthly pay into tithes god doubles it she lives on $300 filapino dolars and that has to last her a month when she does this she just belives that god wil put this to his good use never expecting nothing but he blesses her makes sure her and her family are fed bils payed for and looked after

i am sorry you are feeling this way i understand wear you are coming from as i too was very negative until the holy spirit bought this up to the surface to be dealt with

This is what prosperity means to me:

Psalm 23

1The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

this i recal to my mind therfore i have hope it is of the lords mercies that we are not consumed because his compassion fall not they are new every morning great is thy faith fulness

god is faith full hes ful of compassion his mercies are new every morning as a beliver you know all that

but simply knowing its not enough for it to do you good you have to recal it you have to remember it again and again

in order to rekindal your hope and to stir your faith so make it a point to remind your self of gods faith fulness

every morning remind your self of the benifts that are yours in jesus

what are those benifts psalm 103

1 he forgive all your sins

2 he heals all your diseases

3 he reedems your life from destruction

4 he crowns you with loving kindness

5 he satisfies your mouth with good things so that your youth is renewed like eagles

6 he executes righteousness and judgment for you against oppression he sets you free

7 he makes known his ways to you

8 he gives you his grace and his mercy in times of need

this is what the lord has been reminding me threw reading psalm 103 this morning and i am ever so great full for what he is doing in me and the blessings that come my way when satan trys to steal my joy my peace i remind him of the good things that the lord has done for me and last night as he tried this i kept on reminding him over the prottection the lord has had over my life and the blessings that have come my way
