Why are books quoted in the bible, that are not in the bible. In the new tetement, as well as the old testement, there are quotes, that are not from biblical books. example:

Jude 14 quotes from the book of Enoch. The book of Enoch is not in the bible. Now one of my friends thinks that in his book, Enoch exposed or revealed something that the people who put the bible together, did not want the public to know. So it was rejected. This is weighing on my brain so I'm just looking for clarifaction.

Good question, but I can not give an authoritative answer. Maybe it was because it did not contribute to God in some way? I know nothing about the Book of Enoch except for what I have found on the web. Here is one link that may interest you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_of_Enoch[/urp]

What other books have been left out? Anyone know?

The Book of Enoch was probably not written by Enoch. I've read and heard that the authorship may have been a group of rabbi's rather than just one person. It's interesting to read (look it up online), but it was never considered canon. In other words, Bible scholars use it as a history book and they use it for grammer/interpretation purposes, but don't consider it inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is not included in the Jewish Tanakh, either.

There are other books mentioned in Scripture that have been lost. For instance, Joshua 10:13 and 2 Samuel 1:18 both refer to the Book of Jasher. Now, you can also look this up online, but what you find is more than likely not what is referred to in Scripture. Numbers 21:14 mentions the book of the wars of the LORD. Again this is lost to time.

The men who translated our Bible and who decided which books to include did a wonderful job. They were led by the Holy Spirit just as the men who wrote these books were so inspired.

I Believe Brother Jude Wrote His Epistle Under The Direct Guidance Of The Holy Ghost.

I Do Not Think He Copied His Letter From Some Other Book.

God Moved His Writers To Record Precious Words

Words Of God's Truth

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2 Timothy 3:16

Even Words Spoken From Before The Flood

Enoch

And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,

To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

Jude 1:14-15

Still Spoken After The Flood

Isaiah

For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.

For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.

Isaiah 66:15-16

Words We Hear Today

John

And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.

And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

Revelation 19:11-15

There is no evidence that the book of Enoch that people know today is the same book referenced in Jude. The other old books that exist today that are not in scripture are interesting reading, but are not the inspired word of God.

You're right AvinJade. Many of the "new" books were written to undermine the tru Gospel by the gnostics. There's the gospel of Thomas, the gospel of Barnabas. I haven't heard of the one Damien referred to which is supposedly by Mary Magdeline, but there is always someone who will be deceived by such nonsense.

Here's a simple explanation: http://www.gotquestions.org/canon-Bible.html

Why are books quoted in the bible, that are not in the bible. In the new determent, as well as the old testament, there are quotes, that are not from biblical books. example:

This is weighing on my brain so I'm just looking for clarification.

Good question. There are six books mentioned in the bible that are not in the bible and more book that were in the bible that man and God decided to remove. The problem is that those that God removed He removed for good reason but those that man removed he removed for his reasons. The book of Enoch is a great book and can be located and I agree with your friend. The book of Enoch goes into more detail about the fallen angels and talks about the stars/luminaries. And folks have a really hard time getting a hold on the fallen angels living on earth concept. The book of Hebrew has been removed and put back into the bible more then once. And then we have the Apocryphal books. Those that were removed from the bible by King James which are still in the Catholic bible. I believe that the books of Estras are written by Esra.

It is most interesting that in the book of Esdras the writer claims that Estras did not die, that he was taken up by God instead of suffering death and there is no record of the death of Ezra in the King James version of the bible.

God gave man the choice to choose and man has chosen to remove from the word of God what man has deemed unfit. But God has made sure that what is left in His word is what we need to start and maintain an intimate relationship with Him and His Son

Thank you for your responses. Please continue to post them. i'm just concred why books are left out of the bible. My friend wonders if there i a reason why the bible wasn't put together the way it is now. Until everyone who wrote the books was out of the picture.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
