christmas is coming,what do you think

I was thinking, I always find that at this time of year whatever happens it has more effect, someone dies its harder cause of the season, someone loses a job its harder because of the season, you get the idea.

Now I know that this is down to our emotions.

Whatever happens anytime of year it is bad for whoever happens to be in that situation.

But do you think people have more sympathy as christmas comes closer or not really.

I think that's indeed true. You can see the difference in most people on December 26th. I love the Christmas season, and one of the many reasons why is people tend to be nicer and more concerned around the holidays...but sadly, after it's over, it's back to the 'same old, same old'...

I think people may be a little more "aware" of others and how they are going through the season. I have been attending a Christian based group called GriefShare (it is national and usually one in everyone's area), We have several families that have lost loved ones recently. We all know this 'family time' is hard and lift each other up during it. Thank God for His son!!!! and our knowing that we have those promises of seeing them again and that "every tear will be wiped away...death will be no more...neither, mourning, outcry nor pain....the former things passed away!! Praise the lamb of God!!

May we share His love and our hope all year long!!

I think it depends on the person.

I think they have less sympathy this time of year because they're so stressed out and stretched to the limit. They're trying to shop, wrap, mail things off, decorate, and cook........which takes time and money. I find that there are fewer people at a funeral in December, some of that has to do with the weather as well.

I think part of the problem with events like losing a job is the expectations that people put on this time of the year! It HAS to be good, they HAVE to have a good time etc so they are doubly disappointed if something happens to spoil that.

Bereavements is another matter - it IS a family time so we all miss them more around Christmas.

Sympathy is a wasted emotion. It does virtually nothing for a hurting person, except to encourage them to hurt more. As Christians, we should be empathetic, not sympathetic, with those who are hurting 12 months a year, not just at Christmastime.

one of the things I do agree on is empathy is more important.

I feel that because Christmas familes get together and travel from afar to be close to their loved ones , and coupled with the fact of the closeness to the new year - people have the tendancy to look at a loss with special attention and sympathy.

I firmly agree with this sympathise and more tears fall - empathise and a solution becomes more attainable
