My car is a moving billboard for Jesus so I sure hope I am representing Him well. Walking the "walk" is a daily struggle for sure, but some areas get easier and then it seems God presents me with a new challenge  It helps when looking at a 'difficult' person to see them as Jesus sees them, and just bless them and go on my way.

Sometimes I think we don't really know what our lives show. I really struggle because I am one of those people who find it difficult to "talk the talk" so I have never said much at work. I am praying for more boldness here. However, without even having said, much the other day a colleague said she had a rather dodgy joke, but that she wouldn't tell the others it in front of me! I found this very encouraging as I feel such a failure in my general witness most of the time!

I remember a long time ago reading a quote that said something to the effect of - If it was illegal to be a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?

I ask this often of myself and to those inmates I minister to. It is something to truly meditate on during those times of self-reflection. I hope that when I stand accused, that the evidence against me will be overwhelming. Unfortunately I know that there will be some evidence that contradicts but hopefully the preponderance of the evidence is enough to convict. When I pray, I always ask that everything I say, think, and do reflects Christ.

God Bless you Afal. Nice topic.

I suppose that it concerns me that I don't believe that my life is a 'good' example of my faith. I don't know if I have expressed that correctly or clearly but what I mean is that I want others to see God's love and power in my life; I want to do and say the things that God would want me to say ... and yet, just like the lady in the story in the original post, I seem to let God down by my words, thoughts and actions far too often.

You are already taking the first step! The desire from your heart will allow Him to work in you. We can never be good enough for God. We have to allow His Spirit to do the work in us to be more like Him. Nobody knows really what being like His truly is ... pray for the fruits of His Spirit. The more you are in His word, the more His Spirit will be able to work in you. I encourage you whole heartedly to continue seeking His will in you.

Your Brother In Christ,

Alan

I received this in an e-mail this morning and it has really challenged me (not only referring to my driving!!!!).

SOME TALK THE TALK, BUT MAY STUMBLE WALKING THE TALK

A man was being tailgated by a stressed-out woman on a busy boulevard.

Suddenly, the light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the right

thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red

light by accelerating through the intersection.

The tailgating woman hit the roof, and the horn, screaming in frustration as

she missed her chance to get through the intersection with him. As she was

still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face

of a very serious police officer.

The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up. He took her to

the police station where she was searched, fingerprinted, photographed, and

placed in a cell.

After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the

door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer

was waiting with her personal effects.

He said, "I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your

car while you were blowing your horn, flipping the guy off in front of you,

and cussing a blue streak at him. I noticed the 'What Would Jesus Do"

bumper sticker, the 'Follow Me to Sunday School' bumper sticker and the

chrome-plated fish emblem on the trunk. Naturally, I assumed you had stolen

the car."

I remember a long time ago reading a quote that said something to the effect of - If it was illegal to be a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?

How do you ensure that you are not only talking the talk, but that you are also walking the walk? :noidea: Do you stop and think 'What would Jesus do' in this situation or are you like me? :noidea: - someone who seems to let God down more times than I would like to admit.:wub::mellow:

I like that story.

Wouldn't it be nice when people point out when we are walking the talk....wouldn't it be a nice idea to start pointing it out in others?

Have you ever noticed the driving habits of people who put the Christian fish on the back of their cars? My teenage son calls my attention to it everytime we see it. I've put a fish on every vehicle I own until the recent one. I bought a 5.7 Hemi Dodge 1500 Sport Edition. I haven't put a fish on that one for some reason.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
