I was sprinkled in a Methodist church, but when my husband and I began attending a Chruch of Christ they insisted we be baptized for salvation issues (I always wanted to be immersion rather than sprinkling, so I went ahead with it). Then, when we began attending our current church (Baptist) and decided to join they didn't accept the sprinkling or the Church of Christ baptism. So, I was baptized again.

How do I feel about it? Well, I believe baptism is obedience and not part of salvation. My reason for being baptized the second time was because I had been living out of fellowship and had repented. I felt the need to get right with God - repent. My husband had accepted Christ and needed to be baptized, so we did it together. The last one was because the church we wanted to join didn't accept the reasons the previous people who baptized me did it for (even though my reasons were not for salvation, but obedience).

I think if you feel you need to be baptized again....go for it. You need to be obedient to God and if He is telling you to be baptized, then do it.

one of the youth pastors where i used to go to church got re-baptized... i don't see any reason why one shouldn't. i don't know why you question whether you were saved at the age of 8 though. i was saved at 7... baptized at 8, and i have no doubts that i was actually saved.

still though, i've often considered getting re-baptized, but i don't because my motivation is all wrong. i'm hoping that my husband will soon have a real, one-on-one relationship with Christ. he's a christian, yes, but he doesn't really have that relationship. it's more head knowledge than heart knowledge. that will change though, i'm sure of it, and when it does, i have seriously given thought to getting baptized again as an encouragement for him to do so as well.

although, the closer i get in my OWN walk with Christ, the less my motivation seems to be about my husband, so i may eventually do it anyway.

I was re baptized..... I was first baptized when I was 13 at the age of 16-17 I walked away from church completey and not long after married a man with no christian faith. Several years after we divorced (divorced at 21) I spoke to my Pastor about it one day and he agreed to baptize me once again at age 25.

It was in diffent churches and different denominations but I felt the need to publically declare that God was my all and that I was turning from my old life. Something I felt called to do because I had completely turned my back on God.

I think it is a personal decision, enjoy the steps of faith you take, don't be nervous.

I have baptised many individuals who were convicted that they participated previously ill advised or unaware fully of wht it represented. Their second baptism reflected a greater understanding and marked their genuine conversion. In their opinion it was their first baptism and not just an initiation to church life. I recall one time the participant to be in his late 70's and it quite a revival in the church. It spawned several deeper self-evaluations among church attenders.

Heh, okay, so let's add more to the list shall we?

(Sorry, tad frustrated by this point)

So, I talked to my youth pastor this mornign who said that if I need to get baptized, don't be afriad about it. However, need to talk to pastor.

So, I talkedt o pastor before evening service tonight, who told me to go up to the front at the end of the service, during the invitation hymn, in order to basically make it public that I was going to get baptized.

So.... that's fine and dandy, right? Sure... adrenaline rush, really wanted to hide, etc.

here now is where my frustration is at.... The reason this even came up is because I was talking to someone who is kind of like a dad to my spiritually, his wife my sister/mom (do'nt ask lol not sure how that worked out), but we started talking about salvaiton, leading someone to the Lord. Then, the question came up about how when door knocking, what do you do once you get passed the whole "I"m a sinner" "Becuase of my sin I deserve hell" "Jesus died on the cross for me"... then leading to the "prayer"..

I had a question about it and opened my mouth saying how I was told originally that I was saved.

So... guess what...

after almost 10 years of "being saved", it turns out that I've been trusting in a WORKS salvaiton!!!!

Christ+prayer= works.

I'm beyond confused at this point and have spent most of this weekend crying as it is.

I think I'm finally starting to understand that a prayer is not REQUIRED in order to be saved, but it's hard for me to grasp that I may not have been saved this entire time... and it's hard for me to grasp the concept in and of itself. I'm so frustrated now.... if it wasn't 1:30am (doing homework for school yay), I'd be crying again right now.... Ugh.

has my whole "Christian life' really been a lie???????? I can't fathome this but it may or may not be true.....

I am not sure I am quite following you here. Based upon what you further write though, I am not sure that I need clarification... yet. Please feel free to correct me though.

Huh? I must admit, I am confused as well. It is no wonder that you are.

When we first pray, we ask Him to forgive our transgressions, we ask Him to enter our hearts, to enter our life. We hand control of our lives over to Him.

This is not works, it is merely seeking His forgiveness and at the same time, giving Him permission to create within us a new creation. To circumcise our hearts [cf Rom 2:29; Col 2:11].

Our prayer life from that point forward, is our time in communication with him and has nothing to do with 'works' unto salvation.

I'm beyond confused at this point and have spent most of this weekend crying as it is.

Be of good cheer Kittylover, for His Spirit is with you.

I think I'm finally starting to understand that a prayer is not REQUIRED in order to be saved

For some, they never say a "sinner's pray", yet come to know Christ. Oh to fathom the mysteries of God; Can you find out the limit of the Almighty?

but it's hard for me to grasp that I may not have been saved this entire time

Kittylover, the very fact that you have been fighting this for 5 years and are now coming forward to act upon it displays that He has been at work in your life. Do not worry nor fear, for He is with you.

has my whole "Christian life' really been a lie???????? I can't fathome this but it may or may not be true.....

I will leave you with Psalm 34:4...

:whistling:

I doubt very seriously that the Spirit of God has not been inside you all this time.

Now, I don't know what the conversation was between you and your pastor, but I am hoping it was just a matter of confusion. You know Romans 10:9,10 - do you not? ("If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved....")

Sometimes we can get so caught up in the mechanics that we lose sight of the reality.

No, it isn't a prayer that saved you. It was your faith. "By grace you have been saved through faith...." (Eph. 2:10)

Try asking the Lord to show you this, OK?

You believe, correct? You confessed Jesus as Lord, correct? You put your trust in His death and resurrection, correct? What would be missing?

If nothing else, re-read Romans 3-8.

Prayers!

so we did it together

Hubby and I did it together too!

I was 'sprinkled" when I was a baby (Catholic) and my hubby was baptized by immersion when he was younger, but he was led to believe it was part of salvation. When we joined our church we did it again for the correct reason.! It is an ordenance and a public statement that you identify with Christ. Rom 6: 3-5.

Dont be scared it is an awesome experience, if Pastor would let me I do it all the time

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
