I would like to add that for us to understand what meekness is, we need to clarify what it isn't.

We seem to have an idea that meek means "weak" - subdied, gentle, quiet, stuff like that.

But it is not so.

As I have heard, meekness used to be a term to describe an obedient, well-trained horse, who would turn at the slightest nudging of the rider. Thus meekness was associated with controlled strength.

What do you understand meekness to be, being it is a qualification for the blessing of God according to Matt 5:5?

a willingness to walk in oneness with our many other brothers and sisters in the lord with in the broader part of the christian community as if you look at christs life you will see that no were in the gospels did he reject any one jesus shows us how to do this by the way how i see what meaknes means to me is this

when we are willing to lay down our pride our personal ambitions our comfort our reputation our possessions our very lives so that other people wil reap the benifit we will begin to reflect an aspect of the relationship between the father and the son

not once did jesus take sides in the villages jesus found him self in he took an intrest in the people he showed intrest in weather they wear tax collectors soliders serving in the roman army or a prostitue or a common criminal

yet in todays society we all have our circle of people or friends we hang out with its even seen with in our churches and soon as a new person comes in we would rather talk to those we know then willing to get to know the new person

when people came to jesus with their problems he did not say go away come back later he did what was asked of him look at the people that he heald and look at how he did what the centurian asked of him when he wanted jesus to heal one of his servants what did jesus say i have never seen such faith as i have from this one man and jesus said your servant is heald

today we have many denominations that cant get on with each other instead of walking in oneness we come against each other and put each other down yet if we were to take a real good look at what is said in the gospels no were does it say that we are to do this this is how i see what is being asked for my self

matthew 5.5 blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth

When I think of meekness I take a look at the life of Moses. He surrendered his will to the Lord and followed Him through thick and thin. He humbled himself under the mighty hand of God.

(thick and thin is a slang termonology for in the good times and the bad, easy places and hard)
