I read just recently, don't remember which book, as I read a lot of them, but tobacco companies have started to put more of the addicting substance, nicotine, in cigarettes, to make sure people stay hooked.

This is criminal, even more criminal than putting it in them in the first place!!!

These scum bags need to go to jail like every other drug dealer. They are deliberately hooking kids (I was one of them years ago), then keeping them hooked. There isn't a word to describe them, not that I can print, anyway.

But politicians, especially from the states that grow tobacco, won't utter a peep. In fact, aren't we giving those farmers subsidies????

We are so used to outrages like this that we have become desensitized I guess.

Be careful. There are as many propaganda books and conspiracy theory nuts out there against "big tobacco" as there are against the 9/11 attacks, etc. IN fact there are more. Kids don't get hooked from smoking a single cigarette as they do taking meth or cocaine. In fact, those smokers out there (or ex-smokers) know that the first inhalation of a tobacco product makes a person cough and then get sick to their stomach. The second time they smoke the feeling is the same. It takes at least 3-4 cigarettes before a person even gets used to inhaling the smoke and overcoming the nauseating affect of the nicotine and lack of oxygen.

That's shy I don't buy into the ridiculous hype behind the anti-smoking orgs. It's really just propaganda. If a kid has to smoke 4-5 cigarettes just to overcome the sickening feeling of smoking, that means they're dedicated to smoking. It means there's a determined choice involved.

I agree with this. I was about 15 or so when I started smoking and it ws awful! I had to smoke about a pack before I was what I'd call "hooked." I kept at it becasue I thought it looked cool.

35 years later the Lord delivered me from it.

AMEN! Me too! :th_praying:

Waiting my turn ... :emot-hug:

You're in my prayers, brother. :emot-hug:

They will do it, tho, to be "cool". I did it. Thank God I quit 35 years ago, and have never been tempted since.

It's not only kids who get hooked. Some smokers don't start smoking til they are adults. But every one I know started as a teen.

I remember the "Cool Nic" ads back in the 70s. They didn't seem to help either.

I don't recall "Cool Nic." but I do remember the Marlboro Man. Like, big tough guys smoke, I guess is what they were saying.

I think breaking an addiction to pizza has to almost as hard as breaking away from nicotine. If pizza had nicotine, it would be over.

It doesn't matter if its propaganda or not...cigarettes are bad, and the people that make them should be put into a gas chamber full of their own smoke! The fact that our gov't makes money off of the ruined lives associated with smoking is embarrassing and immoral.

this is something i am having trouble with i have given up and then started and then given up while i was in the philippines early this year i tried and i was ok for four weeks and when i came back to Australia it started all over again

i have been smoking since i was young al the men smoke in my country i am at a point know were i am about to talk to a friend to were i can have some one as a prayer partner like an acountability partner

i wanted to tell my fiancee but i decided to keep this to my self though since i have been doing this new course my church is running which is called valiant man which talks on sexuality the lord has been pounding me

i was not going to say nothing but i am in agreement with oveda and travler

these guys are just to out their to the point were they dont take the time to look into the reasons why people smoke

i know i will probably get slapped by what i have left hear

but i felt i needed to also say something

i read what the op has left in her post and i run into these guys in my country tuffer laws have been introduced to were they are even looking at making it hard for parents what they are looking at is stopping parents from smoking while driving the car you cant smoke in your homes in my country you have to go out side away from the kids

when i got saved the lord helped me over come pot speed herroin and hash and alcahol and tabbaco is the main thing that i am wanting to kick

so i ask that you dont come down on people like my self who have smoked since we were young

i also know christians that stil smoke and i have friends who drink if they are going to say this to what tabbaco companys are doing

how about we look at the harm alcahol has also caused no one is willing to adress this or touch what harm alcahol can do no one has put tuffer restriction on alcahol but when it comes to tabbaco companys and people like my self who have been smoking since we were young you have plenty in support to were you say its criminal

i am about to tel my fiancee and i am praying that she accepts what i am about to tell her my friend is worried that i might have cancer due to my grandfather having cancer which was caused by tabbaco

if we are going to come against tabbaco companys and say its criminal how about looking at putting tuffer restrictions when it comes to the companys that produce alcahol

this should be the main priorty it was hard for me to say what i have left hear but i am human and it was my choice no one put a gun to my head and said you have to smoke cigarets i did not take up smoking to look cool i just grew up around family members that smoked my uncle was the only one who did not smoke but he loves his alcahol

i am 40 yrs old i have been smoking since i was 13yrs old so think how hard it is for guys like my self tabbaco is hard to kick

i can though see how its criminal but some do it as i said if you have family members its around you and sooner or later you wil start when my old man found out i smoked he did not come down on me i hid it from him but he sort of new i say that was the one time he did not beat me he would buy me a packet of cigarets when ever he brought cigarets for him self

God bless from damo

Be mindful of the words which you type, brother...

Our government makes money (in form of taxes) from the sale of firearms and alcohol as well (You know, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms?). In fact, if you really want to get down to "brass tax" the government "makes money" from pornography, gambling, prostitution (At least in the case of Las Vegas), and many other things of which you and I obviously disapprove. So should we round up all the gun makers and force them to stand before firing lines, round up all the booze manufacturers and drown them in pools of alcohol, etc.? These people are fully aware of the damage their "products" cause. But as long as there is a demand for them there will be a supply. You could take all the manufacturers of "vice" in the world and burn them at the stake, but as long as there is a group of people who want to smoke, drink, gamble, and murder, there's going to be someone willing to step up and provide the instruments.

Think about it: What's the real solution...and how are we, the ones who are free in Christ Jesus, going to bring it to them?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
