Interracial relationships and the hoo ha involved.

I watched an American DVD last night - a movie about an African American woman involved in a relationship with a Caucasion man (who happens to be an Aussie actor!!) and the hoo ha that it caused because of an interracial relationship. It was quite an eye opener IF it in fact represents a slice of reality in the US concerning these areas.

Australia is not that blinkered IMO.

I really depends on the community you live in. There are places in the US where it is more accepted than others.

that true. and ive heard more than one black lady complain about this. being angry with the black men, not the white women.

I have also heard there is a shortage of black men/marriage material..this could be why the African American women complain - that's there is none left for them so to speak.

I don't think it's a big deal in the U.S. now....it was a long time ago. I live in the south and interracial marriages are common here, between all races. I've never been bothered by these things....the Lord says nothing about a MAN and a WOMAN, of any race, not being allowed to marry. It's a matter between the two people involved; if they love each other, they should marry. Let's not forget, our next President could very well be Barack Obama, a biracial man.

yes women are more accepting then men what i was trying to say when we came to australia i noticed in the school i was going to it was hard for guys like my self to fall for an aussie girl

also with my friends his girl mainly males they also found it hard to communicate to aussie girls to how these girls were brought up

not all women though are accepting his girl i was once attracted to a girl and i was told she was not intrested in me she wanted an aussie male and what i said was true being croation his girl i had a lot of aussie guys in the community i was living in nerves though it did not worry me his girl i wa brought up diffrent my father could have brought me up and said only date women from your country but living in australia i did not have that option like my father and my grand father were they married to a women from their village in yugoslavia

one community i wil not mention you get frowned on if you date the opposite race its like a peacking order and if some one found out you were dating a women or if a women was dating a guy from another culutre you would hear it from the locals

i nearly got into a fight for dating an aussie girl his girl i stood my ground and would have happily made an example out of the guys who wanted to fight me because one of their friends had fallen for a guy who was not a true aussie

its the same in yugoslavia his girl a croation is not allowed to date a serbian and a serbian is not allowed to date a croation we speak the same language but the way we are brought up we are told the serbs are our enemys

when i was working in sydney i ended dating a serbian from my country she lived in mascot but she told me she cant tell her parents she hid this from her parents as she was scared to what they would do and what her brothers would do to me i had to end the realtion ship as i know my side also would have given her a hard time to were i would have been excommunicated the girl i fell for she would meet me were i was working and would stay with me over the weekend and go home on monday she hid my number as her brothers would go threw her adress book if she wanted to talk to me she would have to go to a public phone box

what puzzles me not all aussies are like this his girl i know farmers who are finding it hard to find the right person who do end up looking abroad for a partner and the guys i know tell me the only reason that stops them from bringing some one from russia or from the philippines or from east asia is due to the way they have been raised up also their mothers have the final say who their sons end up settling with

i am glad you have not experianced what i have experianced and some of my greek and asian and italian friends

to me as i said i have no problem and i am happy with my fiancee and she loves me her whole family have welcomed me his girl i am planning to live in the philippines once my citazen ship is approved for me to be a filapino citazen

It's the FEAR of the UNKNOWN.

It must be taught at home to be accepting of others and in a Christian home this is easier to do because of the Bible (if we practice what we preach).

I make it a point to socialise with people from other Nationalities (luckily I have always been curious of other people groups), so my children SEE it and follow it.

Having said that, my children have said derogatory things about others(their racial makeup) and I have quickly jumped on the comment and have shown them it is wrong and not of God to have that thinking.

I tell them we are each unique and even our culture is a factor of our makeup and part of that makeup is bigotry which can be undone and taught afresh in the way of Christ and His ONE LOVE.
