Nebula,

I will gladly elaborate. One, Lennon's fascination with Christ is well documented. He kept a diary towards the end of his life. That diary was taken by Seamen and given to Rosen. According to the diary Lennon started watching Billy Graham and proclaiming, "praise the Lord' which irritated Yoko who was and is heavily into the occults. During that time John actually went to Jerusalem to Gethsemane and claimed to feel some of Christ

I hope your surgery goes well. I understand you admire this person, no quarrel there. I can tell you truthfully I enjoyed some of their music, until they got silly.

I too have had my hero's, one's that were totally into the world. I choose now not to glorify them. I wish there were shades of gray, but this is not so.

I believe that we are our brothers keeper, and our greatest sins are those that lead others into sin. When the Lord said it is better to tie a millstone around your neck and cast it into the sea, than to lead one of My children astray, it was not in reference to little kids...we are all His children, regardless of age.

Yes, our Lord died for everyone, but ultimately it is up to us to choose.

The fate of Lennon's soul is in the hands of God.

I pray Father that you will watch over Oak during his surgery, strengthen him and give him peace, and if it be thy will heal him I ask this in Jesus name amen.

Hunterpoet:

Thank you for you wonderful prayer. Also, know I can admire Napoleon for his military genius, Nabokov for his writing but that has nothing to do with my spiritual views on them.

I think I understand your perspective a little. There's something about death that opens a door to the spirit realm, and when you are peering through that door . . . everything takes on a different perspective. I've noticed this each time a friend or family member died. I peer through the door. Things seem different. There's a sobering effect to it. I can only imagine how you are feeling affected.

Prayers

Nebula:

You lost me a bit in regards to my perspective. Loosely, the post was about a soul

John Lennon was not raised by his parents. He was raised by his Aunt Mimi. As a young child Lennon did not know his father. His mother was a very loose woman who had little time for a small child. While still a young boy, his father who had been absent for a couple of years, suddenly turned up and Lennon was forced to decide if he wanted to stay with his mother in England or go with his father to New Zealand. He initially chose his father though he hardly knew him, but switched to his mother when she became visibly upset. Keep in mind he was only 4 or 5 years old at the time. How traumatic could this be?

Shortly after he decided to stay with his mother, his mother remarried and because she had a "new family" he was sent to live with his Aunt Mimi...his mother's sister. Lennon and his mother were only beginning to repair their relationship when his mother (Julia) was hit by a car and died. At this time Lennon was in his late teens.

Wow KathyAnn:

Correct, impressive and humbles me because I'm the expert (LOL). I would only add that Aunt Mimi was not a warm person.

Hi Oak....Hope the surgery goes well for you, and may the L-rd sustain, encourage and bring healing to you through this difficult time.

I think quite often, particularly amongst Christians, there is an almost triumphant need to find a glimmer of hope in the lives of fallen idols...many of them totally decadent, debauched and hedonistic...just to show that G-d can and does save even the worst of apparent sinners (although to the world they are still heroes).

I noticed this after the death of Elvis Presley, who to be fair, had a religious back-ground, but who ultimately endorsed the ways of the world...Steve McQueen became a Catholic before he died...etc etc.

I hope John did having a saving faith, just like the thief on the cross, but his legacy here on earth continues and I rank his song 'Imagine' top of my hated song lists, followed closely by Frank Sinatra's 'My Way'....although I liked the tune of 'Imagine'...imagine what it might have been like with different words...

Imagine (with no apologies to the deceased)

Imagine when in Heaven

Its easy if you try

No pain or sorrow

Regrets of time gone by

Imagine all the people

Living for that day...

Imagine there's no suffering

It isn't hard to do

Nothing to kill or die for

And no indifference too

Imagine all the people

Living life in Peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer

but I'm not the only one

I hope some day you'll join us

As the L-rd will make us one

Imagine no possessions

I wonder if you can

No need for greed or hunger

Loved by the Son of Man

Imagine all the people

Sharing this new world...

You may say I'm a dreamer

but I'm not the only one

I hope some day you'll join us

As the L-rd will make us one

In Messiah. Botz

What do I think.

I think John Lennon was raised by his parents, as were the rest of the Beatles.

I think you have clearly stated all the reasons why this " crazy fan " thought Lennon was evil. I do not condone what he did, but pretty hard to argue against his reasons.

I'm glad you can discern that what Lennon did with most of his life was wrong, but what about the millions of others who did not and followed, or tried to, in his footsteps.

Why should I believe that a few words in a song is somehow a secret message to his true feelings and heart. I know him only by his fruits and these fruits did not glorify God.

The man reaped what he sowed.

John Lennon was not raised by his parents. He was raised by his Aunt Mimi. As a young child Lennon did not know his father. His mother was a very loose woman who had little time for a small child. While still a young boy, his father who had been absent for a couple of years, suddenly turned up and Lennon was forced to decide if he wanted to stay with his mother in England or go with his father to New Zealand. i stand corrected, but he did know who his parents were.

towards the end of his life converted to Christianity via Billy Graham for a very short time.

Huh? Never heard of this.

Would you please elaborate?

And what do you mean by "for a short time"?

short time, meaning he did not stay a Christian, he repented his christianity, rejected it. as for it being Billy Grahm, it was not according to this article.

Christianity today

we have to keep in mind, he is not here to verify, he may in fact be with the Lord, I do not know for sure, all i know is what the media has had to offer, never met the man, have had no desire to have met him, just was not an idol of mine, nor a mentor.

if anything, out of the beatles, ringo would have been the one i think i liked the best. John was delving into witch craft and sorts and well, to tell you the truth, even as a child, i knew enough to stay away from that sort of thing and to stay clear of those practicing....

the article the link is for is 3 or 4 pages long, and well, it even talks about how John had dreams of demons coming and going through him (an empty temple).....

what do we believe?

if John died as a Christian, Great.... if not, there is nothing I or anyone else can do that will change that. I hope he did, will not know while on this present earth......

lets see if this works.... sheeeshmaybe one of these days.... lol

"When asked in 1980 about his response to Dylan's conversion, John was less than honest. He said he was surprised that "old Bobby boy did go that way," but "if he needs it, let him do it." His only objection, he said, was that Dylan was presenting Christ as the only way. He disliked this because "There isn't one answer to anything." This is why he favored Buddhism. It didn't proselytize. In what can now be seen as an allusion to his own born-again period, which hadn't yet been made public, he said, "But I understand it. I understand him completely, how he got in there, because I've been frightened enough myself to want to latch onto something."" (from Christianity today jan 2007 vol 51 web only (edition))

We never know what transpires between man and God and can only see the resulting effects. However, if Lennon, in the end, was truly born-again into the kingdom, then we can remember Matt 20: 1-16

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
