I'm looking at the ages of the folks in the old testament, and something just struck me. What was the longest anyone lived after the flood? I see Shem lived 500 years, but I don't see anyone living 900 years the way they did before the flood. Also, after each consecutive generation after that, the life spans grew shorter and shorter. God promised that He wouldn't send the flood until after Methuselah died at 969 years old, and no one lived that long since. Is it possible that there may have been some type of protective canopy over the earth that disintegrated or was otherwise changed by the deluge and that that affected the climate and prevented people from living as long as they used to? My husband tells me that before the flood the earth was richer in oxygen allowing for longer lifespans and larger animals. Better food production I would think played a part also. I think there are a lot of factors why life spans have gradually shortened.

don't think so. i think it has to do with the fact that when adam fell, he brought physical death. the shorter and shorter life spans, i think, has more to do with the following:

genetic disorders

disease

crime rate

technology

yes, i know that crime and illness always existed, but as time has progressed, both genes and diseases have mutated, causing new illnesses or disorders...

i know that there was always crime, and that our society now may very well resemble that of old, BUT... the the bible doesn't mention what the average lifespan of the secular world was. but we do know that believers lived pretty much together back then, whereas these days, christians are pretty much isolated from each other most of the time. i mean, we are essentially living the way lot's family did... believers scattered sparsely among non-believers, so our well-being is at a much higher risk.

technology has also contributed. our lifespan hasn't really got anything to do with climate change, but likely has a great deal to do with the pollutions we are exposed to every minute of every day. not to mention the accidents that occur as a result of technology... plane crashes, car accidents, collapsed bridges, bombed buildings.... and the little mundane things like processed foods.

one, God said...... that man's days will be numbered 120 years.....

two, after sin entered the world, so did bacteria, and other things...... also, perfect DNA and GENEs Chromisones started getting corrupted......

now, after the flood, we had lots and lots and lots of death, and decay......

we had gone from very close relation procreating, to a vast number of people procreating..... now, after the flood, we now have close relation, again procreating, and thus, the genes, DNA and such all intermingeling again, thus weaknesses come out in some......

prior to the flood, i do not recall hearing of leprosy or some of the other illnesses as we do after the flood....

now, in Ps (90 or 91) we see a prayer of Moses that states mans days are 3 score (60) and ten years (total of 70 years) and if they are strong then they are 4 score (80 years)...... (Moses said 70 - 80 years, yet he did not even start his ministry until he was 80 years old, and lived to be 120 years, in Gen 6 we find that God said 120 years).....

in recent days, we find that some people are going back to the Biblical foods, and their health is increasing..... we have a young lady in our county that just celebrated her 109th birthday...... one of my customers I had when i was plumbing that celebrated her 100th birthday a year and half ago, and was still living on her own......

just think, very soon, we will not have to be worrying about life and death, for those that choose death, will have eternal death, and those that choose life will have eternal life, way way way past 120 years......lol.... YAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOOO

as for our life expectancy..... even though God said 120 years, and Moses said 70-80 years, we have no idea how many days we will have in our short lives, that is why we need to either choose life or death, NOW!!!!!!!!

who knows what will happen with in the next 5 minutes, or the next 24 hours, or even the next 75 years......

a pastor (a young man) was presenting the message he was given on Easter Morning a few years back..... as he was preaching, he stated that there would be no better way to go home, to leave this earth Praising the Lord.... and he started Praising the Lord and fell to the floor..... the congregation thought it was for effect, and after a moment, a friend of mine got up and went to the platform (one of the jr pastors) and the pastor had gone home.....

GONE HOME PRAISING THE LORD....... YaaaaaaHooooooo...... what a way to go.... even if only 52 years ( that is how old my father was when he passed away, not sure where he ended up_ and I am turning 50 very soon, and none of the men lasted very long in my family, the women, well, 70's to high 80's men? well, we make it to low 60's.......

my step dad (my daddy) is 76, and is telling me my retirement is lacking...... hahahahahaha..... i will be lucky to even make it to the day i can draw Social Security, much less even be able to retire......lol...... the Bible does not talk about retirement anyways......

there is a country, cant remember where for sure, think in Africa area, that when the people reach 100 years old, they have their work hours cut back to about 4 hours aday....... (Teresa was reading about this last semester during her elementry ed classes......)

Yes, the climate changed. It likely caused the ice age, it defoliated large sections of the earth reducing oxygen, caused greater volcanic activity, and put poisons into the air.

Add all that to what else has been stated, and you can see where it might have been climate.

Frankly, I think GOD just quit extending life beyond 120 years.

I used to think the canopy idea was a good one because I mis-understood what scripture said.

i have my own theory on why life was shortened but this idea of oxygen or bacteria...i would question. Adam lived how many years?

the age effected by climate change does not make sense because it didnt effect adam and those in the arc.

everyone after the ark lived over 500 years.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
