  1. Wednesday 8-24-22 4th. Day Of The Weekly Cycle, Av 25 5782 65th. Summer Day What Is It To Have A Personal Relationship With The Lord Jesus Christ? Before I posted the above question, I asked the Lord to show me what I was asking in having such a relationship with Him, and I think that I got my answer in the scriptures. Because He says if you love me keep my commandments, well, that is the best thing for me in following Him to take His yoke upon myself and learn what is the right way of living. Love, Walter

  2. 1 John says sin is lawlessness. And 1 John says a born again believer does not sin. A believer does not live by his own rules. I think that is what is lawlessness. A person who has his own rules and not God's commandments. So when it says a born again believer does not sin it means he does not live by his own rules. Because even believers can sin and do.

  3. This topic does not get much attention on this forum and elsewhere. What resources, if any, do we use in our Bible studies and why? Why do we use the Bible translations we use? Denominational, the accuracy of the transcriptions, ease of understanding, and reading? Do you reference more than one translation? How does one study the Bible, verse by verse, topical, systematic theology? What determines the commentaries, dictionaries, encyclopedias, lexicons, and other resource material you utilize, if any? In the Genesis account, if we believe in the literal six-day creation versus a Gap Theory, do we dismiss scholars like C.I. Scofield and G.H. Pember, to name two, as heretics, and ignore the rest of their exegetical scholarship? What are your material preferences and preferred methods of Bible study?

  4. When I grew up and fully realized how toxic and emotionally neglectful my parents (who both claim to be sincere Christians) actually were. I had to learn that just because they were older than me didn’t mean they were actually wise or mature, unfortunately. Their influence also really damaged my relationship with God. To have parents both claiming to be Christians and behaving in such a way was a real obstacle for me. As a child I always sought God and talked to Him, though I didn’t fully understand it as a little child… I think that’s really what got me through to adulthood. Both of my other siblings are severely damaged. My older brother is very mentally disturbed and is totally dependent on my mother as a 40 something adult - there are serious emotional and behavioral issues there that were of course never addressed in a productive way by my emotionally neglectful parents. They would rather just put him on drugs and hope the problems somehow went away. And on top of that I have been told by said parent that if/when they die with no plan for dependent mentally/behaviorally disturbed older brother’s care that I should be responsible for taking in my dependent older brother. I am not a wealthy person by the way and live a very modest life in a tiny home. I have been gas-lighted and told that I am a selfish person for not being willing to potentially destroy my own life and marriage by personally taking on such a burden that was created by others. It took me a while but since getting away from their toxic influence, God has been revealing His love to me and has provided me with a refuge for healing to take place. It is a difficult process. Another hard but worthy lesson I’ve been having to learn from all of that is not to rely on any human’s opinion for validation or approval. Only God knows what I’ve been through and only God can judge me.

  5. Thursday 8-25-22 5th. Day Of The Weekly Cycle, Av 26 5782 66th. Summer Day When You Need Help Read: Psalm 121 | Bible in a Year: Psalm 119:1–88; 1 Corinthians 7:20–40 Download MP3 Subscribe to iTunes My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:2 It was a Monday morning, but my friend Chia-ming wasn’t in the office. He was at home, cleaning the bathroom. A month unemployed, he thought, and no job leads. His firm had shut down because of the COVID-19 pandemic and worries about the future filled Chia-ming with fear. I need to support my family, he thought. Where can I go for help? In Psalm 121:1, the pilgrims to Jerusalem asked a similar question about where to find help. The journey to the Holy City on Mount Zion was long and potentially dangerous, with travelers enduring an arduous climb. The challenges they faced may seem like the difficult journeys we face in life today—trudging the path of illness, relationship problems, bereavement, stress at work or, as in the case of Chia-ming, financial difficulty and unemployment. But we can take heart in the truth that the Maker of heaven and earth Himself helps us (v. 2). He watches over our lives (vv. 3, 5, 7–8) and He knows what we need. Shamar, the Hebrew word for “watches over,” means “to guard.” The Creator of the universe is our guardian. We’re in His safekeeping. “God took care of me and my family,” Chia-ming shared recently. “And at the right time, He provided a teaching job.” As we trust and obey God, we can look ahead with hope, knowing we’re within the protective boundaries of His wisdom and love. What kind of help do you need from God today? How does knowing He’s the Maker of heaven and earth encourage you? Father, thank You for being my source of help on my life’s journey. INSIGHT As one of the Songs of Ascents (see the superscription), Psalm 121 was designated as a song of pilgrimage as the people traveled to Jerusalem for the three high feasts each year. Though there were more feasts, these three had been set aside for annual pilgrimage. Notice Deuteronomy 16:16 in Moses’ final instructions to Israel prior to his death: “Three times a year all your men must appear before the Lord your God at the place he will choose: at the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Weeks and the Festival of Tabernacles. No one should appear before the Lord empty-handed.” The Feast of Unleavened Bread was also known as Passover (Pesach) while the Festival of Weeks (Shavuot) was also known as Firstfruits or Pentecost. Both of these were spring feasts, while the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) was a fall feast that remembered the people’s time dwelling in tents in the wilderness. By Karen Huang|August 25th, 2022 Trust In God Psalm One Twenty One 1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. 2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. 3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. 4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. 6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. 8 The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. 6. I'll tell you what I use. I'm a KJV man (I've read other translations completely). However, I do like the NKJV because the translation is essentially the same but without the archaic language. In that manner the KJV is actually updated back whenever after the original. But the seed of that translation was from the original KJV. I personally believe that the KJV was translated at a specific prophetic time in history (even though it was not the first English translation) and thus the reason it stands as what many believe is the English standard. It's sort of like trying to understand why the USA held on to the "archaic" English system of measure, which is something of biblical origin while the rest of the world grasped on to a substitute earth-based measure. As for study aids, I do gleaning from different sources and teachers as I do not believe everyone (including myself) is privy to all truth. But the Lord reveals some things to one person and other things to another and it's our job to figure what is of the Word based by what the Word says. However, that may sound theoretically like we should all approach truth absolutely one day, but due to different cultures and interpretations people read something in the Bible that may or may not be there. Context and comparing scripture helps to filter that out. In short, we won't know all truth until "we shall know as we are known" to paraphrase 1 Corinthians 13. There are confusing things out there. To name a few in health, stay out of the sun (or should we)? Is salt bad for you? How about saturated fat? Here's one: some scientists now believe that DHA and EPA fatty acids in fish are antagonists and may not be as good for you as previously thought? What are we to believe? Well, I found answers to these specific questions and more in the Bible with a straightforward reading. It takes some deductive reasoning. What about other things in life? So-called climate change. Wow! We get flooding rain in one place and drought in another. Why? All sorts of theories prevail, but the Bible gives the answer. Likewise, we are not going to destroy our planet by nuclear war (maybe come close to it but not utter destruction) The Bible says why. So whenever there's a lifestyle question, or any things about circumstances, believe the Bible, not "experts". But for sure, a lot of that is found in the Old Testament, and Torah. I get a tad annoyed by Christians so-called who would truncate the OT and whittle their Bible down to a New Testament only claiming "we are no longer under the Law" as if it's more or less useless. But they will run to all sorts of doctors, counselors, and others giving advice instead while we are to "pray for them" and they wonder why they are in a mess. It's not always wrong to seek help outside, but there's a limit to what a person ought to believe by these sources. And it's helpful to test all that so that a person does not put themselves through something useless, like the woman with an "issue of blood" that spent all she had on physicians. LOL Like Solomon stated, there is nothing new under the sun. So when one gets to that point, they have to admit that sure is not the truth.

  7. If we study the seals, do we see in any seal where the green grass of the earth is burned up? In the 6th seal, an angel says...."Do NOT harm the earth or the sea or the trees UNTIL we have sealed the bond-servants of our God on their foreheads" In the trumpet judgments, in the 1st trumpet, what do we see? .... "Hail and fire mixed with blood, and a third of the earth was burned up, and a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up"..... AND YET...... "In the 6th seal, an angel says...."Do NOT harm the earth or the sea or the trees..."..... UNTIL! In the 2nd trumpet, we have the 1/3 of the sea turned to blood, 1/3 of the living things in the sea perishing, and 1/3 of the ships destroyed. AND YET...... "In the 6th seal, an angel says...."Do NOT harm the earth or the sea or the trees..."..... UNTIL! Jesus tells us that the earth dwellers will be eating and drinking, building and planting, marrying and giving in marriage..... and the Son of Man will come at an hour they do not expect..... He will come like a thief on those unaware.... Now then, if the trumpets blow at the same time as the seals are opened how can the earth dwellers eat, drink, build, plant, get married etc, with all the devastation going on? How? The resurrection/rapture happens after the 6th seal is opened, which you say equates with the 7th trump being blown...... Am I correct in this? Because the angel says in Rev 7 .... "Do not harm the earth etc..." then according to how you are trying to timeline the trumpets with the seals, that would mean that all the trumpets are blown after the 6th seal is opened and before the seventh seal is opened???? ??????????????????????????????????????

  9. My sister and my mom asked me why I didn't become a nun. I told her that because firstly the Vatican has been treating nuns with a lot of disrespect and perhaps always have. Being a nun is a heck of a lot to ask of somebody especially when it's thankless, empty and most of the time it feels hopeless and if it wasn't for the ability to live in a convent and have your very basic needs met the fact is it would be pretty scary. I spent the day today with people from the church handing out donated food, clothing and over the counter medicines and hygiene products and gasoline today at the homeless shelter, and I had people sign letters to send to the president to combat the attack on women's rights. I can do that myself and I have. And what I am, is a Chaplain. I get to go home because I actually have one lol and make myself a steak with mushrooms and onions and Montreal seasoning, a baked potato with butter, sour cream and chives and cheese, and a Bloomin' onion and a glass of moscato wine and have the electric to cook it on. I did have some of the people who I counsel, come to my house for dinner. I'm able to actually get myself to the cruise ship next week where I work in the chapel... And I don't have to be cussed at by nasty people who never has anything nice or uplifting to say along the way. Lol

Summer Day Matthew Eleven:1-15 1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities. 2 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, 3 And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? 4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: 5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. 6 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me. 7 And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? 8 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses. 9 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. 10 For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. 11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. 13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. 14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come. 15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. 12. Wednesday 8-24-22 4th. Day Of The Weekly Cycle, Av 25 5782 65th. Summer Day Landing Spot https://d626yq9e83zk1.cloudfront.net/files/2022/08/odb20220824.jpg Read: 2 Corinthians 5:6–10 | Bible in a Year: Psalms 116–118; 1 Corinthians 7:1–19 Download MP3 Subscribe to iTunes We live by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7 The impala, a member of the antelope family, is able to jump up to ten feet high and thirty feet in length. It’s an incredible feat, and no doubt essential to its survival in the African wild. Yet, at many impala enclosures found in zoos, you’ll find that the animals are kept in place by a wall that’s merely three feet tall. How can such a low wall contain these athletic animals? It works because impalas will never jump unless they can see where they’ll land. The wall keeps the impalas inside the enclosure because they can’t see what’s on the other side. As humans, we’re not all that different. We want to know the outcome of a situation before we move forward. The life of faith, however, rarely works that way. Writing to the church at Corinth, Paul reminded them, “We live by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). Jesus taught us to pray, “Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). But that doesn’t mean we’ll know His outcomes beforehand. Living by faith means trusting His good purposes even when those purposes are shrouded in mystery. In the midst of life’s uncertainties, we can trust His unfailing love. No matter what life throws at us, “we make it our goal to please him” (2 Corinthians 5:9). In what areas are you struggling to see the next step you should take? Ask God to help you trust Him as you move forward in His grace. So often, Father, I’m frozen by uncertainty and fear. I pray that You’ll guide my steps as I trust You for Your good will to be done. For further study, read When Fear Seems Overwhelming: Finding Courage and Hope at DiscoverySeries.org/CB031. INSIGHT Paul wrote this rich passage in the context of pondering death. Yet he put an unusual twist on it. Not only was he longing for death, but he also viewed it as being “swallowed up by life” (2 Corinthians 5:4)—inverting our typical view of it. The chapter begins with Paul contrasting our “earthly tent” with a future “building from God, an eternal house in heaven” (v. 1). The apostle’s certainty of this eternal future prompted him to say he “would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord” (v. 8). For now, “we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling” (v. 2). Paul had great confidence in this because God has “given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come” (v. 5). This is the great message of the gospel. For believers in Christ, death is obliterated by eternal life. By Bill Crowder|August 24th, 2022 Faith 2 Corinthians 5:6-10 6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight 8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. 9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. I had a prophetic word for him and he let me pray and I gave him my number. A few days later, he called me and said, "Normally I wouldn't call you but for the last three days something has been telling me to call you" I talked with him about Jesus and what it means to surrender your life to Him and he accepted Jesus, got delivered from demons and filled with the Spirit over the phone. A few days later, he came to church and said he wanted to get baptized, so we went on a mission to the river at 12:00 at night to get him baptized into a new life. While he was getting baptized, God did something incredible!

  19. Wisdom Superior to Folly 13 This wisdom I have also seen under the sun, and it seemed great to me: 14 There was a little city with few men in it; and a great king came against it, besieged it, and built great snares around it. 15 Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city. Yet no one remembered that same poor man. 16 Then I said: “Wisdom is better than strength. Nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, And his words are not heard. 17 Words of the wise, spoken quietly, should be heard Rather than the shout of a ruler of fools. 18 Wisdom is better than weapons of war; But one sinner destroys much good.” Ecclesiastes 9

  20. im fairly new to bible study, i am studying Paul's epistles and have nearly completed them, oh and the Book of Acts. i use the Authorised King James Bible, and doing this study has changed me. i am not the same person i was pre- lockdown. i wasnt even on milk before but now i am on meat. and its great!!! bible study is never over, there is always things to learn!! i started to realise that main stream church hardly, if ever, preach Paul's epistles. i have also learnt that i lose Christian folk when i start talking about Paul. its like i have taken the red pill as against the blue pill. but i am ok about that, as this isnt for eternity this bit of life, this side of heaven. it gets tough at times, because now i can 'see' Christians not living out a good testimony. and that is too painful to be around but like i said we will soon be in eternity. i now know that i am Saved and i dont have to do anything to keep being saved or to stop myself from losing my Salvation. its the treasure in the field!! i know that i know all this i have learnt by myself, church or other Christians never told me any of this, the gospel of my salvation = Saved rapture -yeah i know not everyone believes in the rapture. anyway being Saved is the Most Critical thing everything else is extra is my wee small understanding of things at the moment

  24. Hi choir loft, There are only a few bible translations that use the word "carcass". The vast majority use either 'body' or 'corpse'..... and the vast majority use 'eagles', not 'vultures'. Jesus does not imply that those 'taken' are taken by 'demons'. I don't see anywhere in the passage that refers to 'demons'. Eagles are sometimes symbolic of angels..... see Rev 8:13 The key wording here is talking about the gathering. Read all of Luke 17 and you will see. So what scripture is saying is...."Wherever the body is ( the church, the believers, the saints, etc) there the angels gather..... or gather them together" We can't just cherry pick one or two lines from a passage and try and justify an obscure meaning. We have to look at the whole passage.... all of Luke 17. And when we do that, it clearly tells of the ' gathering'. Nope.... can't agree here. See my reply above.

  25. Hi Dennis, Good subject. I had very good teachers through out my life and very appreciative of them. Obviously I had to do the work and look into God`s word myself. As I am a `big picture` person I have found that knowing God`s eternal purposes in Christ has given me a good framework wherein I can place all the details. For we know that individual scriptures need to fit in with all of God`s word. I have also found that knowing Christ is the center of His word stops me from placing myself there. I see that reading God`s word all about me, (instead of for me to understand God`s purposes) has led many astray. Then I see that there are three groups that God has purposes for in Christ - The Body of Christ, Israel and the nations. Not knowing this truth has also led many into great error. I use the New King James version, and others sometimes, mainly to keep constant in my posts or blogs. I read other`s writings like C.J Rolls, who have an encyclopedic knowledge of God`s word, plus listen to videos of Derick Prince etc. I take in the truths that God has especially given them and not expect everything to be correct. We need to remember that the Holy Spirit was given to lead us into ALL truth, and that takes time. We believers today are truly blessed with all the great truths that have been restored to the Body of Christ. I am doing another blog and it is about how the Head of the Body has revealed His truths to the Body of Christ, by the Holy Spirit through Paul`s letters. My preferred method of study is around a topic that I am preparing for my blogs, plus any questions our group brings up for discussion, and for threads on the forums. Marilyn.

  30. I think it's to receive him as your savior and know he is lord of all things. Then Jesus said he would make his home in us. He said remain he me and I will remain in you. Keep my commandments Jesus said to remain in him. And this is my commandment to love one another as I loved you. That's a relationship with Jesus.

  32. I'm hesitant to share, @Whyme. We're equipped to strive against flesh and blood and as the scriptures testify, we don't face enemies like ourselves. I hesitate, for our Father in heaven sends me into the heart of enemy territory and this is not easy to relate. The drug cartel which operated with impunity in that desolate wilderness were not the enemies who tormented the woman the Lord sent me to serve and protect. The drug dealers and murderers are not the ones who torment the poor souls in this place where I am now. They are not the one I face. Spiritual warfare is the trial by fire and that acceptable service which the Lord requires of me, His will and purpose ordained before I was born. This is why Christ sends me to places where suffering abounds, my friend. As the Lord revealed to us all through His prophets, the earthly is but a reflection of the heavenly according to time and times and so the Lord revealed to me, through trial by fire, that there is an appointed time for every matter under heaven. There's no other way to write about this. There is a time to be ignorant and a time to wander in the darkness, A time to fight and the time to face defeat; A time to expend this flesh and a time to see the end of it, And a time to fade like the flowers of the field. There is a time to wither and a time to lose that which was given to you, The time to curse the day you were born and fail the Lord who called you by name, And even a time to forget Him, though He never forgets you. There is a time for the Lord to come with the brilliance of His glory, A time for the Holy One to reveal His hand to the astonishment of all, That time for the scales to be lifted from your eyes. The time for defeat to become the shout of victory For victory belongs to the Lord, and no other. There is a time to walk with the Lord and a time for Him to walk with you, A time to humble yourself and draw close to His every word. A time to follow the Lamb wherever He goes. Our brother @Michael37 speaks truly about these principalities, the spiritual powers of wickedness in high places which we face in this present world. These are the enemies we face, my friend. Joshua and Israel of the flesh were an example for us; they faced giants in the promised land and so we, in turn, face giants in the heavenly places. To quote our brother, The fiery trial concluded so the next might unfold. What I faced in ignorance was revealed by the Spirit of the Lord: a throne of wickedness, a prince (principality) of darkness and the author of unspeakable suffering for as far as the eye could see. Nothing was spared from the wicked one's grasp... the drug cartel and gangs were but outgrowths of his malfeasance on earth. My dear friend was afflicted by this tormentor as I was; if not for the Lord, we both would have perished in that wilderness where the throne of evil lies. Even here in this place where Christ sent me, this prince's power is manifest. This is his territory after all, and he is that enemy which I face. We are born in spiritual warfare, Whyme. If I have anything to add to what others have shared here, it's this: walk with the Lord and He shall walk with you. When the hour comes, His Spirit shall be with you for who can stand against the Almighty? His Spirit will tell you where to go and what to do, and even what to say if He has words for you to speak. You will pray as He directs you and though you will face things all too familiar to this flesh we bear (our weakness), focus on Him alone for we have nothing to fear in Jesus Christ. They are already defeated and judged. Never forget this.
