  1. In the trinity we have a God who not only knows about love, but who loves and receives love. His knowledge is not academic but is experienced and known on a deeply personal level. This is something no monotheistic or polytheism can know or experience. It is one reason that we can know that our God is love.
  2. May I suggest that you start reading c s Lewis. He wrote about the cyclic nature of faith, that we have times of highs and times of lows. Then there is the poem 'Footsteps in the sand.' which says that when we walk with God it as if we can see two sets of prints in the sand, but the writer complains that when he had times of trouble there was only one set of foot prints. The answer came that at those times God was carrying the writer. What's the point of this? Simple, feelings Do Not prove anything about our faith or relationship with God. Jesus promise that he would never leave us, never let go of us and that we would be with him in heaven. Those promises depend on Jesus, not on our feelings.
  3. Is it? What of the opposite view that if you don't fit the I'd and cross all the 't's' of what I believe you are a heretic . How many church's in small towns differ on historical minor points of doctrine and strive to serve there town, duplicating there efforts, wasting resources, dividing people and creating hostility all because of minor issues. Are large churches automatically right, there is a case that many cultural Christians hide in large churches where they know they won't get challenged on there lack of growth or maturity as a Christian.
  4. Are you thinking about starting a life of crime? Because if you are you have a lesson from God in front of you. Just what are you really asking? That God should prevent your friend from going to prison? Did he do the crime? We are responsible for our actions, whether sober or under the influence, whether Christian or non Christian. If you believe him not guilty, then help him in his legal struggle to prove that. Regardless of whether he is guilty or not, you can remain friends with him. If he goes to prison he will need friends on the outside who write to him, send him little extras, or cash. Warning. Think very hard about the consequences of any romantic feelings you may have for him. What sort of life will you have with him. Be a friend yes, but untill he has shown he is able to support himselve and a family be nothing more.
  5. It is very simple. Do you believe that salvation is a gift from God or is something that one works for, earns and deserves? If it is a gift of a right to one how can one loose it? Don't get me wrong there will be many who may be saved but will not hear Jesus say " Well done. " Because of how they have lived. The Christian life is not passive, but active so we must hold firmly to what we believe and show it by how we live. Jesus said if you Love me, you/we will obey his commands.
  6. I am sorry you are feeling so down. Your situation is not good yet you know it could still be a lot worse. So why do you wait for your landlady to go out before hovering your room? Trying showing them the online selling APTS and pointing out if they sell what they don't wear, they can buy more new things. For yourself is there anyone you can talk to in your church, or anyone who could help you find a better job?
  7. God uses us to help people. You can give of your time, money to charities and to people in need. That you are unaware of your responsibilities to those in need is very telling. Talk to your minister about how you and your church can be active in helping those in need.
  8. Blaming God for the consequence of sin is similar to blaming hospital for people dying in them. May I suggest that you investigate answersingenesis and the articles they and creation.com have about how mutations have changed helpful bacteria etc into unhelpful and dangerous illnesses.. Re food, as has been said, there is no shortage of food in the world. Test this yourself. How many poor people are there in your town. Join those charities that seek to help them and see if you can remove people in need from your town?
  9. Very few people are not interested in the answers to their questions. Yes there are those who ask similar questions again and again. Often they need that repeatition.
  10. Love is not 'wishy washy' it is concerned for those who are loved and wants the best for them, so if one loves another season who is doing what is wrong they will be told that that is wrong. If we are living as Jesus wants us to live then we can speak out about the wrong deeds of others, we can be judgement for we are happy for that same standard to be used against us.
  11. I am sorry that you feel this way. Have you spoken to your doctor? Do you know whether you are actually suffering from depression or merely feeling down? No one is saved, or lost because of there feelings. Being saved is an act of faith, based on facts. What one feels about that act or the facts is irrelevant. One is either a Christian, regardless of how one feels or not a Christian. Please talk to someone, your doctor, your minister, a good friend, talk to someone.
  12. Jesus is referring to the Only True God. Your problems is to identify just who Jesus is? For if he is God as the Bible says he is, as only God can forgive sins. Then your non trinity believe is nonsence.
  13. Forgiveness is always conditional on repentance. Right through the Bible this is found. In the Law a sinner had to offer a sacrifice because he had sinned, he had to pay his hand on the beasts head as a symbolic transfer of guilt. This was costly and one did not approach a holy God with a sacrifice and an attitude of I don't care. We are not saved, forgiven, made co heirs with Christ when we are contemptuous of what Jesus's sacrifice. All Christians are saved because they recognise they are sinners in need of forgiveness and are sorry for their sins. To say Christians ' must ' forgive unrepentant offender is to be a pharisee and add what is not written in scripture. We like Jesus are to commend offenders to God. Jesus prayed on the cross " Father, forgive them. " He did not forgive them but asked his Father to do so. We do the same for unrepentant offenders, but we also show we care for them by praying intelligently for there well being. We also commit our own feelings about the incident over to God to deal with. This is hard and is why so many promote a blanket forgiveness. It is much easier to try to make feelings of forgiveness than to pray for the benefit of someone that one hates.
  14. "Is the fall of man a single age that won't happen again? Will we look back on this as a lesson to never do it again?" Adams fall was a literal event that explains why we are sinful and why we do not naturally seek God. As a historical one off event it is not possible for it to be repeated. As for the order of events, the Bible does not give anything like what you have posted. So your question about that order of events is a question about fiction, irrelevant.
  15. I am sorry that your health has collapsed, we rarely recognise the link between physical and mental health. May I encourage you to talk with your doctor, nurses etc to get the most out of your treatment. Christianity is often presented as something we do for God, that we have faith, we seek him, that we have influence when the truth is that it is God who teaches out to us. Faith in Jesus is a gift from God so we cannot brag about how holy we are. All I can do is to encourage you to seek God, through reading the Bible and prayer, if you are in hospital ask to speak to its Chaplin, otherwise try using christianityexplored web site to find a church in your area and email it's minister. Otherwise post questions, requests for prayer here, people will respond.
  16. If you have questions, doubts and concerns about Christianity you have several options. Use the internet to find answers to them. Ask Christians you know. Post them on forums and read and respond to the replies you get. How do you know that the churches in your area don't share your beliefs? Chevy out christianityexplored for churches in your area and try watching there online services, talking to the minister.
  17. Why? A sinner finds salvation and makes restitution as the law requires and also makes a freewill offering to those in need. If your situation allows you to clear your debts, you can also make a freewill offering as your circumstances allow.
  18. Please explain how a lying cheats repentance applies to your contractual debts. Read the verse:- But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.” This verse would only apply if you lied inorder to get a loan.
  19. If you are a Christian, you have the Spirit living in you, interpreting what you cannot put into words. God knows what you want, desire, fear, hope for, and love. This is basic Christianity. You want encouragement then read Romans Ch 5 verses 1-11. It is about Jesus dying for those who hated him and the extent of his love and protection his death and resurrection gives us. If you were in the habit of talking to your minister he would have told you this and much much more.
  20. Faith is a gift from God, you,/we do not make or have faith or hope. A simple challenge for you. What is it that makes you a Christian? What do you have that makes Jesus's statement that no one can snatch you out of his hand, to be nonsense? As 1john1:8+9 says God will forgive us.
  21. Not long ago you were writing about giving up you faith! Now you are back with your obsession about people being possessed. What evidence do you have that people are possessed? How do you test your ' evidence ' ?
  22. Are you listening for God to speak? By that I don't mean sitting with an empty mind, but actively reading, thinking about and praying about what you read in the bible, what yo read in books that teach one about God or Christianity or what you hear in sermons that ask to explain what is in scripture. How does one hear God? If you are a Christian, what caused you to become a Christian, why are you a Christian? As that would have been God speaking to you. Unless of course all your Christianity is following family tradition. Do you need to hear God speaking, in the armed forces the Commander in Chief doesn't come and wake up and instruct the ordinary individual soldier, airman or sailor. He lets standing orders be acted upon by officers and NCO's. Christianity is similar. The bible tells you what you need to do, preachers and bible teachers expound what it says. Jesus said if you love me, you will obey my commands. Paul wrote r12:1+2 let your mind be transformed so you can test and approvewhat God's will is. Christians are readers and thinkers. You want to hear God will start reading his word, start serving him, in your Daly life, in your volunteering, in your prayers for those around the world who need them and in your giving.
  23. Whether political, economic, family or personal catastrophe, we all have one source of comfort, peace and strength is through our faith/trust in Jesus. It is our hope for the future, our hope for our nation, the world and all people. Not politicians, businesmen etc.
  24. Carey later preached a pro-missionary sermon (the so-called Deathless Sermon), using Isaiah 54:2–3 as his text, in which he repeatedly used the epigram which has become his most famous quotation: Expect great things from God; attempt great things for God. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Carey_(missionary) Is the correct source of th quote.
  25. Intrusive thoughts are not real, the recommended means of dealing with intrusive thoughts is to just acknowledge them, to say ' that's right or ok,' one should not discuss, argue, ignore or suppress these thoughts. Have a look for 25 tips for successfully treating ocd, written by a psychiatrist to help his patients and talk with your doctor/therapist about your intrusive thoughts and this article as you may need medication to help you get on top of these thoughts. Lastly may I suggest investigating the resurrection of Jesus. Did it happen? If it didn't what evidence is there?
