In the trinity we have a God who not only knows about love, but who loves and receives love. His knowledge is not academic but is experienced and known on a deeply personal level. This is something no monotheistic or polytheism can know or experience. It is one reason that we can know that our God is love.

Jesus promise that he would never leave us, never let go of us and that we would be with him in heaven. Those promises depend on Jesus, not on our feelings.

Forgiveness is always conditional on repentance. Right through the Bible this is found. We do the same for unrepentant offenders, but we also show we care for them by praying intelligently for there well being. We also commit our own feelings about the incident over to God to deal with. This is hard and is why so many promote a blanket forgiveness. It is much easier to try to make feelings of forgiveness than to pray for the benefit of someone that one hates.
