  1. For one thing, get rid of the trolls. There are some who have come here that dislike this forum immensely and deliberately want to upset this forum. Very unChristian behavior.
  2. Wonderfully said, thank you....spoken from a heart that knows the Lord, and understands His work in us. Yes, more untrue statements being said such as the present church is lacking faith. One cannot say the entire, present church lacks faith! Someone here who has never met me told me I didn't have faith! Also, that I was "far off." These are only more examples of untrue statements being put forth on this forum, thus proving my point. Yes, so true. However, especially for the sake of new believers, some of us are speaking out against these false accusations and statements put forth by a very small group of members.
  3. A few here mistakenly think those of us who are born again by grace through faith and accept Christ's finished work for our salvation are not walking with Jesus. Over and over they claim we have a license to sin, and therefore are leading sinful lives. Some even claim that we are taught by pastors not to do any works as we are relying on grace. Of course, this is untrue. I've been born again since the early 1970s and have never heard any pastors preaching against doing good works. Rather we were taught to have a quiet time (prayer/Bible reading) with the Lord so we could grow spiritually. Of course growing spiritually includes good works, but we know we are not saved or kept saved by good works. The Holy Spirit is a definite factor in our hearts/lives as we grow spiritually (are sanctified) throughout our lives...it is not just self effort. I hope the few with the above misunderstandings will stop continually perpetuating these untruths. We seek to live holy lives but it is something that comes from our hearts that have been changed by the Lord when we were born again. "But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name; which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." John 1:12-13.
  4. Oh wow, sorry to hear that. Look for that report function by the PM's....maybe if people know that you will now start reporting them, they won't harass you. Hopefully so.
  5. Since both of you are new, please remember to report any posts that are personal attacks, rude, etc. The report post function is in the upper right corner of each post. You can also report any PM's that are rude, etc.
  6. It does seem, though, that many liberals are quite critical of Christians. Everyone else can have their beliefs but they criticize Christians. Usually on tv, if there is a Christian portrayed on the program, they are made to look stupid or portrayed as a hateful type of person. It never used to be this way years ago.
  7. Jesus said there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth....that sounds like eternal torment to me.
  8. Good answers already for you, Zach. Also, Biblical meditation is alright....that would be meditating on some Bible verses, slowly reading and mulling them over in your mind and heart. This helps the word of God to go deeper into our hearts/lives.
  9. I'm not a Methodist but certainly glad they kept the ban. Yes, the other countries' votes are holding back this evil.
  10. nzkev, just wondering did you ever check out the videos on ministering to JW's? The ones by Dr. Walter Martin on YouTube.
  11. An animal lover contracted rabies in The Philippines after rescuing a puppy. She was on vacation. Back in Norway she got ill and doctors tred to figure out what was wrong. She died eight days later. We all need to be careful when visiting third world countries or even rural areas in Western countries. https://nypost.com/2019/05/10/woman-dies-of-rabies-after-bite-from-puppy-she-rescued/amp/
  12. I think she just got you mixed up with the original poster who asked the question about becoming a better Christian.
  13. Someone emailed me about this....how wonderful to hear!
  14. People need to earn a living so I see nothing wrong with it either. Hope it goes well for you!
  15. All wonderful advice already. She should make sure she has enough Christian friends to balance out the negative input she is possibly receiving at public school. If she has any bad influence from certain people, she should limit or stop seeing them....hang with different kids at the school. Of course, having a quiet time (devotional time) is very important for spiritual strength.
  16. We are all different, given different gifts. Some might do alot of things that are visible to others. Others might live simply and do things in a simple way. That doesn't mean those simple things are less valuable. Some even might be limited in being able to leave their home, so they might have a prayer ministry. I think even being kind and compassionate, although simple, can mean alot in ministering to others.
  17. Hi, please see the videos on YouTube by Dr. Walter Martin. He is famous for his book Kingdom of the Cults. I just was looking at his videos and he has four videos about how to reach JW'S. Bible colleges use his book on Cults.
  18. When I was minoring in missions we used Walter Martin's book Kingdom of the Cults. Will watch the video later today, got to sign off now!
  19. The main doctrines are essential....for instance, the JW's don't accept the deity of Christ, the Trinity and they base salvation on a combination of things including works. They reject the Biblical view of the Holy Spirit and Christ's atonement. As for their translation of the Bible....some words are translated totally differently in order to support their false teachings like denying Christ's deity. Our translations use different words but the same meanings. Also, their founder wrote six volumnes and that is where they get their beliefs.
  20. I also answered you in my JW'S topic. A cult is any religion that deviates from the main doctrines of the Christian faith. Also, cults usually have extra books besides the Bible as their authority. In the case of JW's, they have their own translation Bible where they have translated certain words to fit their beliefs. In the case of Scientology, where they will reprogram you for alot of money....their founder claims he was abducted by space aliens. He also was quoted as saying religion was the best way to make money. The higher one gets in their organization, the more strange things come out about their beliefs.
  21. I hope you don't mind my answering here about what I consider a cult. It's any religion that deviates from the main doctrines of the Christian faith. BTW, as you might know, the JW'S do have their own translation Bible where they have translated certain words to fit their doctrine.
  22. Another member mentioned being visited by JW's recently. Would anyone like to share how you have ministered to them? Also, I know we have a newer member who is a former JW.... can't recall his name. If he happens to see this, I hope he will share how he came out of that cult. Thanks!
  23. I hope you find some fellow gamers that are Christians!
