  1. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity. – Jonah 4:2 We all know the story of the prophet who was swallowed by the fish. Children are amused and enough the thought of it! Yet as adults when we take time to read through the details we realize a much more serious and importance message is being given to us. Jonah was a holy prophet and admired by the people of Israel. He heard the voice of God many times and obeyed in sharing the truth with the people of God. But when the voice of the Lord told him to go to a very wicked people who worshipped the fish god, Jonah said no. He went the opposite direction in a boat but the Lord had a way of getting his attention and encouraging him to obey and speak repentance to those people. Jonah had seen time and time again God show mercy to Israel when they did not deserve it and it turned his stomach to think he would show mercy to the very wicked people of Nineveh. Even after preaching and seeing the peoples repentance Jonah still felt that God should judge them in some way (Jonah 4:1). We all can be like Jonah at times, especially if we are the people who have been hurt by others. The people of Nineveh enslaved and caused great harm to Israel before so the thought of forgiving them and even God showing mercy to have them become believers was too much for Israel or their prophet Jonah to accept. Have we been hurt by others in the world who we have not forgiven? Maybe we have forgiven them but do we want them to be saved? St. Benedict of Nursia says, “To hate no one. Not to be jealous or envious. To hate strife. To evidence no arrogance. Never despair of God’s mercy.” God’s heart is full of grace, meaning he wants to extend his love and mercy to those who do not deserve it especially. God is compassionate and very slow to anger against those that we feel deserve it. We are never called to hate anyone, desire evil for anyone, if we share the true Spirit of Christ we will seek for mercy and love for all of humanity. This also extends to the body of Christ that we would seek the good of all those who call upon the Name of the Lord.
  2. John 11:33-35 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. “Where have you laid him?” he asked. “Come and see, Lord,” they replied. Jesus wept. Sometimes in our society the world tells people to suck it up, not be emotional, and looks at crying as a weakness. Especially if someone is a male it’s not looked at as manly to cry, yet Jesus wept. It said he was “deeply moved…..troubled….wept.” Not just a little upset, but extremely. This passage is clear that Christ had emotions and was compassionate. I believe this is an example where we should not follow the ways of the world, but use Jesus’ as an example of how to live. Romans 12:15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep, is another place we are told to do this. Then it goes on to say in John 11:36 Then the Jews said, “See how he loved him!” By weeping, Jesus showed love. John 11:43 When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” Because what Jesus spoke comes to fruition, if he had not called Lazarus by name, it would appear that all the dead buried there would have been brought back to life. John 11:48 If we let him (Jesus) go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and then the Romans will come and take away both our temple and our nation.” Fear of losing their power and greed led to the chief priests and Pharisees plotting to kill Jesus. John 11:53-54 So from that day on they plotted to take his life. Therefore Jesus no longer moved about publicly among the people of Judea. Instead he withdrew to a region near the wilderness, to a village called Ephraim, where he stayed with his disciples. I’ve heard some Christians over the years say that we should just let evildoers overtake us and be martyrs for our faith. I think this is an example where Jesus was wise and didn’t help them to do evil to Him, until it was His appointed time to die/be our sacrifice.
  3. Colossians 3:3 - "For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God." When Christ died, we died. When Christ rose, we rose with Him. Christ is now seated at the right hand of God and us with Him in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6). All the work is finished. When we hideaway with God we become absorbed into His very life. With our hearts yielded to the Holy Spirit, we become conduits of His presence into the earth. God will use us in power because we are simply vessels. It is Christ in us, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). Just as Paul said in Galatians 2:20, "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me," his life was absorbed into Christ. We move from the position of visibility into a position of being hidden with Christ in God. TRUE FAITH WILL NOT BE DISCOURAGED Have you been impoverishing the ministry of Jesus so that He cannot do anything? "How can you give me "living water?" - John 4:11 True faith walks and believes in what Jesus has already accomplished and will not be discouraged by the appearances of the temporary realm. It is very possible that your first message from Jesus will not be words but an urgency you feel. You are starting to care about something beyond your own life. You are being influenced by the yearnings of God. He is depositing in you His grief and His love so you can respond to a specific need. PRAYER: Flow out of me, Oh, well, with living water from the river of God. AMEN ALBERT FINCH MINISTRY
  4. Matthew 9:36 - "But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd." COMPASSION IS A DEEP YEARNING THAT RESPONDS TO THE NEEDS OF PEOPLE. JESUS' LIFE ON EARTH WAS A PICTURE OF COMPASSION IN ACTION. HIS WHOLE MINISTRY WAS DRIVEN BY IT. IT WAS COMPASSION THAT CAUSED HIM TO MULTIPLY THE LOAVES AND FISHES, HEAL THE SICK, CAST OUT DEMONS AND RAISE THE DEAD. IT WAS COMPASSION THAT COMPELLED HIM TO GO TO THE CROSS. Observation: HE NOW LONGS TO POUR OUT THAT SAME COMPASSION THROUGH ME. HIS COMPASSION MOVES ME TO PROVIDE FOR THE HUNGRY. IT COMPELS ME TO CAST OUT DEMONS AND SET THE CAPTIVES FREE. I REACH OUT AND TOUCH A LOVE-STARVED WORLD WITH COMPASSION. Matthew 28:19-21 - "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age." The great commission God's covenant promise "I will be with you" has always been linked to mankind's need for courage to face the impossible.provides more interesting reading for those who remember what kind of men God was giving His charge to -- greedy, prideful, angry, and self-centered. Yet Jesus called them to change the world. QUESTION TO ASK MYSELF: Do I believe that Jesus can overcome my shortcomings and still use me to do His kingdom work? "Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna..." -Revelation 2:17 As we spend time resting in the presence of God there is an abiding prophetic anointing that begins to rest upon us. Hidden manna and mysteries are revealed supernaturally by the Holy Spirit when we invest in His presence and behold Him as He is, and we become one with Him and begin to understand the way He thinks and feels as well as His deepest heart yearnings. We overcome and become an expression of His very life—a reflection of His heart and feelings toward others. When we are one with Him in heart and mind, we can't help but be in tune with Him as we relate to those around us, available to speak a word in season to minister to a needy heart in the moment. 5. Romans 10:9 - "If you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." CONFESSION WITHOUT ANY FAITH IN THE HEART IS POWERLESS; IT'S USELESS. Observation: WHAT IF I DON'T BELIEVE IN MY HEART? SHOULD I STILL CONFESS THE WORD OF GOD? YES, BECAUSE WITH MY LIPS, I CAN MAKE CONFESSIONS UNTO FAITH. IN OTHER WORDS, AS I SAY GOD'S WORD OVER AND OVER AGAIN, FAITH CAN BE BUILT IN MY HEART WHERE BEFORE THERE WASN'T ANY FAITH. I CAN SPEAK GOD'S WORD SO MUCH THAT IT WILL EVENTUALLY AFFECT MY HEART, AND I WILL BEGIN BELIEVING IT. Romans 10:17 - "So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing, by the Word of God." Matthew 15:32 - And Jesus called His disciples to Him, and said, "I feel compassion for the multitude, because they have remained with Me now three days and have nothing to eat." People saw in Jesus meekness, unlimited power, and perfect love. Observation: If I would win souls, people must see in me this same Jesus. If I would draw men to Christ in heaven, they must be eyewitnesses of Christ in me. But, if I have flagrant sin or self-righteousness, my witness in non-effective. Romans 1:1 - "Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ called to be an apostle, separated unto the Gospel of God." The New Creation separates us from the old life. As the Word is built into us, we are separated unto Christ. First, there is a separation from the world; now there is a separation unto the Master. Jesus becomes the Lord of our lives. His Word dominates us. In our walk then, as we are separated unto Christ, we come to believe that God has a PURPOSE for our life (our DESTINY). We ask, seek, and knock (Matt. 7:7,8) until we understand what that purpose is. As we receive revelation of that purpose through the Holy Spirit we separate ourselves from those things which are not sinful in themselves but unnecessary. This separation continues year after year as we pursue our DESTINY in Christ, walking in the fulness of His fellowship. QUESTIONS TO ASK MYSELF: Am I completely sold out to the Lord Jesus Christ? How much time per day do I spend meditating on Jesus and His PURPOSE for my life vs. participating and thinking about society (it's demands, requirements, and pleasures)? What is my plan to increase my Christ consciousness? ALBERT FINCH MINISTRY
  6. John 10:4 - "The gate keeper admits him, and the sheep hear his voice; he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out. When he as brought them all out, he goes ahead and the sheep follow, because they know his voice." JESUS DID NOT SAY, "MY SHEEP WILL KNOW MY BOOK." IT IS HIS VOICE THAT WE ARE TO KNOW. WHY THE DISTINCTION? BECAUSE ANYONE CAN KNOW THE BIBLE AS A BOOK - THE DEVIL HIMSELF KNOWS AND QUOTES THE SCRIPTURES. BUT ONLY THOSE WHOSE LIVES ARE DEPENDENT ON THE PERSON OF THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL CONSISTENTLY RECOGNIZE HIS VOICE. Observation: I MUST DILIGENTLY STUDY THE SCRIPTURES, REMEMBERING THAT IT IS IN KNOWING HIM THAT THE GREATEST TRUTHS OF SCRIPTURE WILL BE UNDERSTOOD. 2 Corinthians 10:4 says, "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds." ' How is gratitude a weapon? Gratitude means being grateful not only for what God has already done but for what He is about to do. Combining faith with gratitude multiplies the power of this spiritual weapon. The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy. He uses fear to capture hearts. He uses lies to capture land. Gratitude prevents him. Gratitude actually takes territory from the enemy. Thus, gratitude is a weapon in spiritual warfare. Gratitude creates an atmosphere forincrease. Look at all of the traps gratitude helps you avoid: self-pity, entitlement, resentment, greed, lust, and anger are a few. See what a great strategy gratitude is? Gratitude helps you avoid disappointment and indignation. As an active strategy for wellness, it promotes healing. It leaves little room for fear. Gratitude and contentment enhance godliness as you set your affection on things above and not things below. That is great gain. You will not win the world with your logic, you will win the world with love. There is no logic that can explain His love. So let His love flow through your heart, peace dictate your thoughts, and compassion craft your words. Isaiah 54:17 - "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord." Observation: I ESTABLISH MYSELF THROUGH PRAYER SAYING, "LORD, I REFUSE TO BE AFRAID OF THIS WEAPON THE DEVIL HAS BROUGHT AGAINST ME BECAUSE I KNOW THAT ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD, IT CANNOT PROSPER. I TRUST YOU TO PROTECT ME, AND I THANK YOU FOR YOUR PROTECTION NOW. IN JESUS' NAME. AMEN." Affirmations: NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST ME SHALL PROSPER. NO SICKNESS, NO CIRCUMSTANCE, NO PROBLEM THAT RISES AGAINST ME CAN SUCCESSFULLY BRING ME DOWN. I DON'T LET THE POWERHOUSE OF GOD'S PROTECTION GO TO WASTE. I PUT IT TO WORK IN MY LIFE. IT IS MY RIGHTFUL HERITAGE AS A SERVANT OF THE LORD. ALBERT FINCH MINISTRY
  7. 2 Corinthians 10:4 says, "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds." How is gratitude a weapon? ASPECTS OF GRATITUDE: Gratitude means being grateful not only for what God has already done but for what He is about to do. Gratitude creates an atmosphere for increase. ALLOWING HIS LOVE TO INFUSE YOUR HEART AND WORDS The weapons we use are either from God or from the enemy. When we use the enemy's weapons of fear, hatred, criticism, complaining, judging and taking offense, we let him steal our identity, kill our hope and destroy our future. We can't let temporal facts cloud our understanding of eternal truth. Jesus said, "Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near" (Luke 21:28). By imagining worst case scenarios, you make things worse than they are. You will not win the world with your logic, you will win the world with love. There is no logic that can explain His love. So let His love flow through your heart, peace dictate your thoughts, and compassion craft your words. ALBERT FINCH MINISTRY
  8. Matthew 7:14 - "The way is narrow that leads to life, and few are those who find it." Observation: I HEED CAREFULLY THE WARNING OF JESUS SINCE I REALIZE THAT THE VOICE OF THE MAJORITY, BEING AFRAID OF BOTH THE BATTLE AND THE COST, WILL BE A VOICE OF DISCOURAGEMENT TO ME SINCE I AM SERIOUS ABOUT FULFILLING THE PROMISES OF GOD. Ephesians 6:16,17 - "Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God". Some are willing to spend hours in prayer asking for a miracle instead of planting the Word of God in their hearts, which in time would produce the miracle. Prayer is what water and fertilizer are to a seed. They help the Word release its life. But if you haven't planted the seed, it doesn't matter how much water and fertilizer you apply, the soil still won't produce fruit. It's the seed that has life! Affirmations: I CONFESS THAT I WEAR MY SALVATION TIGHTLY AROUND MY MIND LIKE A HELMET. IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW HARD THE DEVIL TRIES TO HACK AWAY AT MY MIND, I STILL STAND STRONG BECAUSE I KNOW WHAT JESUS' DEATH AND RESURRECTION PURCHASED FOR ME! Song of Solomon 1:1 - "Let Him kiss me with the kisses of His mouth." Observation: GOD UNITES HIMSELF WITH MY SPIRIT, AND I AM ABLE TO BEGIN TO EXPLORE THE FULLNESS OF GOD. THE JOURNEY TOWARD THIS COMPLETE UNION IS A PLACE WHERE MY SPIRIT IS COMPLETELY POSSESSED BY GOD. CONSIDER THAT JESUS IS CALLED "THE WORD." THE "KISSES OF HIS MOUTH" IS NOTHING LESS THAN THE VITAL COMMUNICATION OF THE WORD OF GOD TO ME. ALBERT FINCH MINISTRY
  9. 1 Corinthians 13:13 -- "So faith, hope love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love." The power of love is the greatest power in the universe. It's beyond defeat. It never fails (1 Corinthians 13:8). When you release love into a situation, you have released God into it. When you release love into a situation, Jesus becomes responsible for it's success. Mark 12:30,31 -- "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this, You shall love your neighbor as yourself." AFFIRMATION: I release love every moment into every situation, every prayer and ever thought until it totally consumes my life. Love strengthens me and casts out every fear that has robbed me of God's greater blessings. INTO ACTION: Name 2 ways your are releasing love in your everyday living. ALBERT FINCH MINISTRY
  10. 1 Corinthians 2:16 - "For who has known or understood the mind (the counsels and purposes) of the Lord so as to guide and instruct Him and give Him knowledge? But we have the mind of Christ, the Messiah, and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart. " If you feel weary and discouraged, in need of wisdom and direction, simply ask for God's grace and guidance. As we seek His PURPOSE FOR OUR LIFE and not just the benefits of "His hand," we will find that the more we know Abba Father, the more His love and compassion will emanate through us. The light and wisdom we seek from above are not to be found in human programs of education and psychology, or even in our common sense and good intentions, but only, exclusively, in the Person of Christ Jesus. "He has been made unto us wisdom." - 1 Corinthians 1:30. Affirmations: GOD WANTS ME TO BE SO IN TUNE WITH HIS SPIRIT THAT I AM ABLE TO FEEL HIS HEART OF COMPASSION TOWARD THOSE AROUND ME WHO ARE HURTING OR AFFLICTED WITH SICKNESS AND PAIN. SINCE HE IS ONE WITH ME, HE CAN REACH OUT THROUGH MY HANDS AND FULFILL HIS PURPOSES IN THE EARTH. 1 Corinthians 3:3 - "You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere men?" GOD HAS MORE FOR US THAT MERELY BECOMING BETTER PEOPLE; HE WANTS TO FLOOD OUR LIVES WITH THE SAME POWER THAT RAISED CHRIST FROM THE DEAD! GOD DOES NOT MERELY WANTS US "NORMAL," HE WANTS US CHRISTLIKE! Romans 5:20 - "But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound." Observation: GOD USES DARK MOMENTS AS OPPORTUNITIES TO POUR OUT HIS GRACE AND TO SHOW OTHERS WHO HE IS! I CHOOSE TO PUSH AWAY ALL MY FEARS AND TO BELIEVE THAT GOD IS GOING TO DO SOMETHING MIRACULOUS TO SAVE THE DAY! ALBERT FINCH MINISTRY
  11. Matthew 15:26 - "To this Jesus replied 'it is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs."' It is the privilege of children to eat at the table with their Father and from His dish, which is to share in His Spirit; but the dogs must eat the crumbs that fall from the table. Psalms 59: 14,15 - "And at evening let them return; and let them make an noise like a dog, and go round about the city. Let them wander up and down for meat, and tarry if they be not satisfied." Luke 22:24 - "Now an eager contention arose among them as to which of them was considered and reputed to be the greatest." Observation: I AM NOT AT REST IN HIM IF I AM LOOKING ABOUT TO SEE HOW HE IS DEALING WITH OTHERS. NOR AM I AT HIS SERVICE TO BRING THE GRACE OF COMPASSION TO THEM, IF I HAVE TAKEN A HIGHER SEAT . Luke 22:26 - "But this is not the way it is with you; rather, the greatest one among you must be like the youngest, and the leader must be like the servant." Romans 12:2 - "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." Observation: THE TERRITORY OF THE UNCRUCIFIED THOUGHT-LIFE IS THE BEACHHEAD OF SATANIC ASSAULT IN MY LIFE. TO DEFEAT THE DEVIL, I MUST BE RENEWED IN THE SPIRIT OF MY MIND! ALBERT FINCH MINISTRY
  12. Proverbs 20:27 - "The spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord." Luke 17:20,21 - "The kingdom of God comes not with observation. For behold, the kingdom of God is within you." If we wait quietly before God and learn to turn the eyes of our soul to the inward parts of our being -- our spirits -- we will encounter Him in the deep levels, as that is where His Spirit dwells. Matthew 25:30 - "And cast the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth." Affirmation: THE HOLY SPIRIT IS GIVING ME WISDOM AND COURAGE TO STEP OUT AND BEGIN TO FULFILL THE DREAM HE AS BIRTHED SO DEEPLY INSIDE ME. Jude 22 - "And of some have compassion, making a difference." Affirmation: MY HEART RELEASES THE COMPASSION OF JESUS CHRIST TO HELP DELIVER PEOPLE CAUGHT IN THE DECEPTION OF SIN AND DARKNESS AND SET THEM FREE. ALBERT FINCH MINISTRY
  13. Blessings Brothers & Sisters,,,,,, I heard a "delicious" sermon this morning & I thought I would share this with all of you,,,,,,a tasty snack of Peace,Joy & Wisdom If anyone has ever heard David Jeremiah then just imagine his gentle, peaceful & gracious tone with this encouraging message. So many times we hear about the "evidence" of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit & yet more often we hear verses of Scripoture being taken out of context ,leaving the "hearer" wondering if they are truly Saved We are Saved by the Grace of God,we are "Born Again" into His Righteousness by our Faith It is because of what HE has done,Jesus Finished Work on the Cross,,,,,so where is the 'evidence"?Is it "speaking in tongues"?Is it our works? Is it the Gifts of the Spirit? The Fruits? How do we know we are "Born Again"? Many people will tell you a date they were Saved, without a shadow of doubt they will say"On such & such date I was Born Again" and some (like myself) cannot remember the date but of course I know there was a day I asked Jesus to come into my heart & Save me,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,that is all we need to know, there was a time that Jesus came to live in us,we were indwelled with His Holy Spirit. There are folks that remember the date very well & on that date they cast away their drugs, alcohol, cigarettes & everything else that they were bound by & they simply will never forget. That is not usually how it works & so, many New Believers question the day they came to the Foot of the Cross,,,,,,"Am I Born Again?" David Jeremiah said there are 5 birthmarks of Salvation, how you know that you are Saved or you know that someone else has Jesus Living in them. The first is easy,it is the birthmark of CONFESSION,,,,,You BELIEVE that Jesus is the Son of God,the Savior of the world You BELIEVE & have asked His forgiveness of your sins,,,,,that is the Confession of FAITH It is a decision,"Lord Jesus,be my Savior (see also John 3:16,1 John 4:1-3 and John 3:36) It is nothing that "I" did,it is because "He" did it ALL The second is the birthmark of CHANGE As I mentioned earlier, some folks experience an immediate transformation, they threw their cigarettes away, stopped swearing,no more drugs,,,,,,,but it does not always happen instantaneously & that is okay because a change does take place that day,Jesus came to live inside of you and it happens from the inside out,we become a New Creature,,,the Holy Spirit is within us The 3rd is the birthmark of COMPASSION Being Born of God is having Gods DNA,the old sinful nature has passed away(the old man) & it is who you love, you love God,love one another,,,,,,you are now Gods Family & you want to be with other Christians, children of God And isn't it True, when we meet a Brother or Sister in Christ there is an instant Bond,we know we are Family such a Joy,Praise Jesus! The 4th is the birthmark of CONFLICT,,,,,, You've heard many times that we are in the world but not "of" the world, being Born Again we take on the foes of the world but as overcomers,Victors Everything that is not of God conflicts with our New Nature, the UnBelievers can see that we are different,we know it too Finally,we have the 5th,,,,this is the birthmark of CONDUCT,,,, Does this mean we will never again sin? No it does not ,what it does mean is that we can no longer live in willful rebellion,,,,,if anyone does continually sin & violate Gods Laws with the attitude of "Well I live in Grace & am not under the Law so I will do what I want" they are deceiving themselves & are not Saved Gods children live in Gods Grace & are Forgiven ,you don't reach a "sin limit" or have a quota-lol It does not mean you will never again sin, trip & fall,,,,it simply means that you will be convicted and will not KEEP sinning God Seed in you,the Holy Spirit will not allow sin You will not want to sin because you love God I'm sure I did not say exactly what Dr Jeremiah said but I'm am sure you all got the jist of it,I could not remember all the lovely Scriptures he referred to ,I should have written them all down-lol What I liked about the 5 birthmarks is that all the Scriptures do say "Born of God",,,,,,,I only hope to encourage someone who has any doubts about being Saved,,,,,,,there is nothing that "we do",nothing that we "do not do",,,,,,we are TRANSFORMED into into New Creatures in Christ Jesus ,a continual work in progress as we walk with jesus....know that you know what you know, you are His,bought & paid for "in Full",,,,,,,,His Grace never expires,His Love is Unconditional and He Forgave you, past, present & future,,,,,,a change took place the very moment you said"Please forgive me Jesus,I need you to be my Lord & Savior" now just Let go & let God All Glory ,Praise & Honor to our Precious Lord Almighty,JESUS! With love-in Christ,Kwik
  14. Luke 17:20,21 - "The kingdom of God comes not with observation.
  15. I was raised in a time and in an area of the country where many men considered it manly to kill animals just for the sake of killing them. They called doing that "sport." And they taught the young boys, as they grew up, to do the same thing. They explained that killing animals was merely we humans "exercising our dominion" as they put it. The results was a lot of unnecessary killing of animals (and birds) just for the sake of killing them. "Road kills" counted too. Many back then would speed up in order to "score a point" on all critters crossing the road and even score points on stray dogs and cats too. I now see all that as wrongdoing and outright sin. Its a blessings how the Lord changes the heart and makes us wiser and better as we read His word and get to know Him better. I found myself braking the other day so I would not hit a young squirrel that had just dashed in front of my truck. I am glad I did that. I will never again cause any animal death or pain just for the sake of killing the animal. I read in the newspaper where they closed that disgraceful Ringling Brothers Elephant Show. Good. It was very painful for the elephants. I have read how they "trained" the elephants to do all their tricks and performances and the "training" involved intense pain for the elephants while they were forced to go through their routines. No, I am not against hunting animals for food. I am against killing them only "for sport" and against killing them "just for the sake of killing them." No, I am not a pacifist. I believe some wars are justified, for example WW II. But I believe killing and mangling up human bodies in wars ought to be the very last resort after all other solutions have been totally exhausted. "Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God", said the Lord Jesus. That means exactly what it says. On another subject: "A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal." Proverbs 12:10
