Madonna changes her name to Esther

Madonna has taken on the Hebrew name Esther as her new Moniker, according to a report on the celebrity update show called EXTRA and one of many numerous reports found on the net shown below.

She claims that the name change came about because she was inspired to take on the new name by her study of Jewish mysticism known as Kabbalah.

As far as I'm concerned, Madonna isn't deserving of the Hebrew name Esther and I feel that this is blasphemy and an abomination in God's sight.

She states in the article that "Kabbalists believe in immortality. They believe that you can overcome death, overcome illness, whatever, so, it's incredibly good to be a rebel."

How does she figure that this belief that the Kabbalists have, has anything to do

with Esther's character in the Bible? Esther was a woman for all seasons. A rare combination of physical beauty and inward character. She was everything that Madonna isn't.

Am I misunderstanding something here? Doesn't the Hebrew name Esther apply to Esther in the book of Esther in the Bible?

Many people are called Esther these days.

It is in fact a Persian name for "star" but was used for the Esther who became the wife of the Persian King Ahasuerus/Xerxes who was the son of Darius 1st.

Esthers real name was Hadasseh which is the Hebrew for the Myrtle.

Why I should be interested in Madonna I cannot think...although I drove past her house in Scotland some months ago.

Yes she is into mystical Kabbalistic teaching which has become somewhat trendy amongst the rich and famous...bit like the Beatles and Eastern Philosophy.

Perhaps G-d will lead her into His Righteousness.

Now this is the one woman I really have a problem with not hating when i think about her behavior and her major, major influences she's had. I know God loves her and Jesus died for her too. I guess I just have to keep reminding myself of that.

Well, at least her name change is pronounceable - unlike "the artist formally known as Prince."

It is sad that people with such identity crisis are "role models" in our society.

But you are correct, we need to remember that they are just lost people in desperate need of Jesus who happen to be media stars.

Esther is not a Hebrew name. It is of another origin, Chaldean I think.

No matter, the "Kabbalah" that Madonna and others of similar ilk involve themselves with, is not real Kabballah.

You cannot go out and purchase a book on true Kabbalah. Kabbalists are a secret group, and do not publicize their teachings.

The Kabbalah pused in bookstores is just the "New Age" with a Jewish schtick.

I wouldn't give 2 cents for the real Kaballah either. Both teach the abomination of re-incarnation and other such lies.

Madonna needs the Lord, and needs the pure Word of God.

Sadly I think this yet another example of how hungry the lost are. Searching for a feel good religion or movement. The supernatural has a very strong pull for people. If the 'church' doesn't meet their needs they will find it elsewhere.

Hollywood is one of the most influencial medium's in the world.

It is a hurt, lost, confused, immoral cess pool. Satan's hold there is very strong.

Could it be because the 'church' has failed them. Stood in judgement of them for so long.

God bless the prayer warriors who have been interceding for Hollywood. I am sure they are out there.

It is very sad that these stars who seem to have everything, money, fame, power really have nothing. They spend their lives going from one fad to another. Taking on these crazy religions that focus on self. Maybe we need more missionaries to Hollywood who can show these people the way.
