The Mayan were a blood thirsty civilization, that practiced human sacrifice on a large massive scale. The sacrifices were to false gods. Why would God give them the year of His return?

Good point Ayinjade-thank you-Shiloh62

personally, i ignore the dates that man places before us. the only thing i acknowledge in regards to the end times are those that line up with scripture. i try to live my life to the fullest. why worry about dates that are predicted when God is the only one that knows the exact date and time of the end? we should be worried about is living for God and sharing his word others. we should be reaching out to those who don't know the word of God.

An ancient civilization created a calender, I believe it was the Mayans, that happens to end in the year 2012. For that reason, many believe that the world will end in 2012. The problem is, thats only 4 years away, and the tribulation itself will last seven years. How do they overlook that? Shiloh62
Well my first question would have to be how do you know the Tribulation is 7 years long (not that I believe in the 2012 return of Christ)

Revelation 11:2 refers to 42 months (3.5 years) the last half of the tribulation in which the earth will be under some type of Gentile authority. Revelation 11:3 refers to 1260 days (also 3.5 years) the first half of the tribulation, in which the 2 prophets (Elijah and Enoch?)will be on earth. Shiloh62

Some don't believe in a "7 year tribulation" due to lack of scriptural confirmation.

When Christ said that no man knows, he meant no man. Not no man that I am talking to, but no man period. Will we ever have a better idea as to when? Yes, Will we know the day or hour? No.
The point you are not getting is Jesus never said we will never know.

Let's take a closer look at the scripture, the words and the meaning of these words.

Matthew 24:36 (King James Version)

But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

knoweth:

Strong's Number: 1492

Eido

1. to see

1. to perceive with the eyes

2. to perceive by any of the senses

3. to perceive, notice, discern, discover

4. to see
1. i.e. to turn the eyes, the mind, the attention to anything

2. to pay attention, observe

3. to see about something

2. i.e. to ascertain what must be done about it

1. to inspect, examine

2. to look at, behold

1. to experience any state or condition

2. to see i.e. have an interview with, to visit 3. to know

1. to know of anything

2. to know, i.e. get knowledge of, understand, perceive

1. of any fact

2. the force and meaning of something which has definite meaning

3. to know how, to be skilled in

3. to have regard for one, cherish, pay attention to

no:

Strong's Number: 3762

Oudeis

1. no one, nothing

The whole phrase is seen in this form of communication:

The New Testament Greek Lexicon

Strong's Number: 5758 Tense, Voice and Mood

Word Tense

Perfect

The perfect tense in Greek corresponds to the perfect tense in English, and describes an action which is viewed as having been completed in the past, once and for all, not needing to be repeated.

Jesus' last cry from the cross, TETELESTAI ("It is finished!") is a good example of the perfect tense used in this sense, namely "It [the atonement] has been accomplished, completely, once and for all time."

Certain antiquated verb forms in Greek, such as those related to seeing (eidw) or knowing (oida) will use the perfect tense in a manner equivalent to the normal past tense. These few cases are exception to the normal rule and do not alter the normal connotation of the perfect tense stated above.

Word Mood

Indicative

The indicative mood is a simple statement of fact. If an action really occurs or has occurred or will occur, it will be rendered in the indicative mood.

With this information, I bring to you that no one will ever have knowledge of the day or hour, and does not need to be repeated, being said once and for all.

Good try Onelight but I am far from convinced by your effort. I am not saying that anyone will ever know the day or hour, what I am say is that Jesus did not say we wouldn't, and I am sticking to that opinion even after your diligent word study.

I guess the old saying is true. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.

God Bless Brother.

No man knows either day OR the hour. You can calculate until Gehenna becomes an ice rink, you won't be right. When will we Believers get it through our thick skulls that it's on GOD's time, not ours. Yeshua must be held in heaven until the restoration of all things (Acts 3:21).

Gog and Magog are doing their thing, so it may not be too long, but to say this day or that year is inviting yourself to being made to look silly. It won't catch US unaware because we are in Messiah. It's the godless who will be caught with their hands in the cookie jar.

Please you show me where us "think headed Believers" have set a date. What I posted from George is very interesting and did not set any date as to His return, only stated a "season". Did you not read " I believe it's going to be an interesting 7 years"?

Why is it that you feel the need to attack people by calling them names?

Matthew 7:20

Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

Galatians 5:22-23 (New King James Version)

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

Some of your posts do not show any of the fruit of the Spirit, as in this one.

Friend, I include myself in there. We ARE always trying to say this year or that year. Every time I turn around, I see or hear of some Believer (not just here) trying to say that the LORD is coming in (fill in the blank). All it does is make us look silly. Jesus tells us no man knows the time, we run right out and do what? Try to figure it out. Now, where I come, that's bein' thick headed. I wasn't even referring to what you posted. I'm using a generalization.

It's obvious that He is coming sooner than he was yesterday, but it's also obvious that WE don't know when. I'm not one for pious platitudes. I call a spade a spade. I'm more Peter than Paul. More son of thunder like John and James bar Zebedee. My point was that we as believers tend to do exactly what Jesus said NOT to do...worry about when he's coming. For all we know it's in the next 30 seconds or the next 100 years. So yes, WE are thick headed.

I'm guilty of that big time-shiloh62

No on knows the exact timing except God (according to Jesus).

JESUS really said no one knew the exact time at the time HE said it. HE never said no one would ever know the day or the hour, HE just said no one did at that time.

That is twisting scripture. Is not God the same yesterday, today and tomorrow? By your words, every piece of scripture holds no water for today, for it was written for those that lived back in the day and has no truthful meaning for any of us today.

Actually it is twisting scripture to say that Jesus said no one will ever know the day or hour because that is not what He said. He said exactly what kross said He said that no one knew the day and hour. He never said no one will ever know the day or hour. Matter of fact He went on to say that the day of the 2nd coming would be like the days of Noah, the wicked didn't know the flood was coming but Noah knew exactly what day it would come, Thus will it been when the son of man comes. the wicked will be taken off guard the righteous will be ready and waiting.

Matthew 24:36-39

36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Wish I would have read this before I replied.

You quote and agree on a verse, but do not see ... Verse 36 tells us. When Jesus said no man, He meant it. Are we not a man?

Actually it is you that reads yet does not see. He said no mans knows (present tense). He never said no man will ever know. To say that He said something He didn't say would be, hmm how did you put it, twisting scripture. :whistling:

Oh, I see. So, the very next day someone could know. That, is the twist in your understanding. Tell me then, can either of you tell me the day and hour? Many people have tried, but have failed and proven to be false.

Not even Jesus knows that-only God.Shiloh62

Revelation 11:2 and Revelation 11:3

Re 11:2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

Re 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

Ok . . . so the first 42 months the outer court and the city of Jerusalem is going to be trampled under foot by the Gentiles . . . I thought the theory went the Antichrist was going to establish a peaceful covenant with the Jews the first 3

Shiloh62

Why do you not believe this is the same 3.5 years? and why do you think the 42 months that is mentioned first comes after the 1260 days that is mention last?

Excellent question Ezekiel.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
