As I read through some of the many threads that have come and gone over the time I have been here, there is one thing that has stood out more then anything else to me. I have noticed that over time, more and more people are not remaining separate from the world around them, but fit right in with looks and manner. What does it mean to you when Paul tells us not to conform to this world?

Romans 12

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

social, mental, economic, spiritual . . .

We are to judge ourselves. He has given us a standard, His word, to use as a yardstick which to measure ourselves to. It is His word He brings to us for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness so we can become Christ like.

Becoming Christ like is not to remove ourselves from society. Jesus walked among the sinner to bring light to their life, an example we are to follow. He did not become as the sinners are in order to do so. When I think about how many people are like to world in order to witness to the lost, I find myself questioning if that is the right thing to do. Many will use the words of Paul from 1 Corinthians 9, "I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.", to justify becoming like the world in order to save them from sin. This is not what Paul meant at all. Paul was saying the for the weak, he become like the weak. This is spiritual, not physical. To take this out of context makes it contradictory to what Romans 12:1-2 teaches.

Brother,

You have hit upon a process that I have been mindful of recently. I even started a thread on it.

It is Judging Righteously and Executing True Judgement. :emot-highfive: I even started a thread about it. In order to do this Righteus Judging and to Execute True Judgement we have to do exactly what you are stating. :emot-hug: We have to Yardstick our own walks with fear and great trembling.

I read about it again this morning;

My pastor just preached on this passage

I think "the world" is just everything associated with the fall - evil actions, words, trends, etc. But we should be transformed by Christ :noidea:

Exactly! I started this thread to try and get people to think about the difference between the world and what a Christian should be. I have noticed that a lot of professing Christians have one foot int eh world and the other in Christ. Trying to stir the pot a bit.

Yes. :) It is quite difficult at times, I don't pretend that I have it all together. I still struggle over decisions and I'll admit at times I choose to go with the world. But by grace I have chances to learn and grow and change. By grace I know I am saved and can choose Christ. Even when it's a challenge - that's my prayer.

Yes, and it is a great prayer! :)

Our flesh is always going to entice us to be pleased. It tugs us back from where we came. It lusts after the world, but stronger is He who is in me then he who is in the world. When we have victory through Christ, we shine, but when we conform to the world in any way, our light grows dimmer. Who are we, the unwise virgins or the wise? Do we have enough oil to sustain us through the night and until He comes for us?

That's very true. It's a spiritual battle!

Do not seek after the sins of the flesh and keep fleshly lusts under control.

IMO it has nothing to do with what we ware or what music we listen to, it is strictly about keeping a heart towards GOD.

Yes, many churches and Christians have been led down the path of placing greater value on themselves than on saving souls, and that would be a definate example of being conformed to this world.

If our hearts are toward God, we will reflect Him in who we are, how we speak, how we treat others, how we live and so on. The two can not be separated. You are a mirror of your soul.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
