I'm not sure if this should be posted in doctrine or not :thumbsup: I had posted this on another site but it was on a smaller scale than worthy so thought I would post it here to see what responses others may have. I don't know if I'm comprehending or interpreting a certain part in verse #18 or not.

The part I'm referring to is What is the "depth" of Christ love? How deep or what depth can the love of God go, what depth can a person stoop down to and the love of God can't be found anymore?

I know that there are those who believe you "can" and those who believe you "cannot" lose your salvation. This thread is not meant for OSAS or NOT but if it goes that direction I would ask that you would at least address your beliefs, thoughts and comments to the scriptural text in Ephesians 3:18

I have just been asking myself while meditating on this scripture how deep is to deep? :thumbsup: It just has been going in all kinds of ways in my train of thoughts. Looking forward to any of your responses.

Ephesians 3:17-19---That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,......vs 18) May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and "DEPTH," and height;.....vs 19) And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

thanks

This scripture tells us that no matter where you are, when you call out to God, He is there. There is nowhere that you can ever go the God can not be there also.

My thoughts on the verse is that he is not necassrily talking about how low you can go and still be loved by God. He's talking about how God loves us all the time. He is saying that we can't fully comprehend how much God loves us.

In Ephesians Paul is addressing how all believers, Jews and Gentiles have been brought together to be the one body, fitly framed together and grow into the temple of God-

Eph 2:18 For through Him we both
[Jews and Gentiles]
have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

21 In whom all the building
fitly framed together
groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:

22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

This alluding to us all as the whole family together as the holy temple of the Lord is carried on onto the next chapter whereby as His holy temple we may be able to understand God's love for all.

Eph 3:15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,

16 That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man;

17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;

19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Paul's statement of "the breadth, and length, and depth, and height" is a 3 dimension reference back to us as the temple of God as an allegory of a spiritual truth. Paul continues to address the wisdom of God of not only bringing us all together, but actually somewhat forcing us together as well into the next chapter as well-

Eph 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

16 From whom the whole body
fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth
, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

Again Paul refers to us as being "fitly framed together" which means volumes in construction. The strength and integrity of every structure is distributed throughout the structure and dependent upon each piece being in its place and fitly secured to the next. But Paul also addresses that we are "compacted," which means forced together by the wisdom of God dispersing His several and diverse gifts as He will to "that which every joint supplieth" whereby when working together we "increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love."

It is when we humbly acknowledge God's wisdom and submit ourselves one to another in the fear of God abandoning our egos and doing our part to support those next to us that we become that temple of the Living God, fitly framed together and the habitation of His Spirit with all His gifts working to benefit each other. Only then can we realize and enjoy "what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height, and know the love of Christ which passes knowledge, and are we then filled with all the fulness of God.

Peace.

I like your thought process here Blindseeker :noidea:

Rom 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

Rom 8:38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,

Rom 8:39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Taking the above into account, there is no depth that is too deep for God's love for us. Simply put, God is not a God of dimensions, He is the dimension if you get what I am trying to say?

Thank you for your kind words.

It is true that an omnipresent God has not dimensions, but the very fact that His incarnation did give us a finite focal point in time and space reveals that we are creators of dimension and what we know and understand grows and progresses dimensionally. Compared to unmeasurable majesty and glory of God in all His wonder and holiness, this incarnation in time and space as the man Jesus the Christ was but a crude reflection, yet sufficient to prove Him worthy of all glory, honor and power and to hold all men accountable.

1Co 13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

It is not until this finite spiritual being clothed with mortality sheds the frailty of his flesh which communicates with God and His creation via the incredibly wonderful yet limited fleshly central processing unit of corruptible gray matter and am clothed anew with glory and immortality that I will be able to truly know Him even as I am known.

Till then, the breadth, and length, and depth, and height are concepts which can be understood to help convey that which exceeds our full comprehension.

in the next few words is says "which passeth knowledge" and His love indeed does that...

:emot-handshake:

I have enjoyed immensely reading all the comments that have been made thus far and I have to say things are opening up around the verse Ep. 3:18 I hope to read others post.

I was reminded what King David said, "That if he made his bed in hell the Lord would be there."

Blindseeker, don't feel bad on the sentence run on's I am the world's worst. I have improved on it so I shouldn't look at it as bad but a challenge instead. I have enjoyed the thoroughness and gentleness that comes across within your doctrine you've shared on the topic. thanks

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
